It is possible to do some basic testing of your vision and the vision of your family members and friends at home. Home eye testing is not a substitute for a complete medical eye examination by an ophthalmologist. Testing your vision at home will not be as accurate as what your ophthalmologist can do. But home eye testing could help you discover a problem that requires professional attention.

I'm a patient of Dr. Vinca and Dr. Huang at this office. Dr. Vinca is the most skilled surgeon and Ophthalmologist in the bay area hands down and Dr. Huang is the best optometrist that you could ever have. They are very knowledgeable, detailed oriented, and deeply care about their patients. I should also note that the staff are very helpful, kind, and positive too.

Very disappointed at this place. For the past 2 times, the wait time was more than an hour. Nobody came out and explained the reason of the delay, and no one apologized of the delay. If you couldn't keep the time, what's the point of scheduling it? The second time we were there, Dr. Ornitz came in without even a bit of familiarity of our case and chart, still asking the question if it's the first time we are here.
When we asked about the condition she didn't quite spending time explaining to us. I saw in other comments this is quite common for them to keep patients waiting. And no, there's nothing you can do to make it right and give back the 2 hours we spent waiting.

Edit: After posting this, I finally did get a call from the office manager. He took full responsibility for the experience and assured me that they were taking steps to address these issues as I was not the only patient to express concerns. He was very patient and understanding, so I will bump my review up by a star for that reason. However, I recommend you call and ask what changes they've implemented before making an appointment. - If you care about COVID-19 safety measures being in place when you go to a doctor, AVOID this office.
I had an appointment with Dr. Tai last Monday, and while I had no complaints about my visit with her, the rest of the experience was not a positive one. I've gone to two other doctor offices recently and they had limited appointments so that only one patient would be in the waiting room at a time. That was not the case here. While waiting to check in, there were 6 other patients and 5 staff members in the open waiting/office area.
That's 12 people including myself. One patient and one of the optical staff members had their masks below their noses. And worse, one of the staff/nurses sitting at a desk had her mask completely below her mouth. I'm was getting really uncomfortable as I was waiting for the check in person to get off the phone. Finally someone comes over to help me and I express all of these concerns.
They basically do nothing and then check me in and tell me to have a seat. I go wait in the hall because there is nowhere to sit and stay 6' apart from other people due to overcrowding. I honestly almost left I was so upset. After my appointment, I emailed and left a voicemail with the manager to them him know my concerns, but despite asking for a response to confirm they had received my feedback, I never heard back. Again, if you care about good COVID-19 safety practices, go somewhere else.

Was referred to Dr vinca, The online form creation is terrible and even if you fill it out they don't seem to have the info. They struggled with basic history which they could have found easily My entire appointment was rushed and I had significant Concerns. It was late in the day and they seemed more concerned in collecting revenue than anything else. Dr Vinca was pleasant but really did not take the time, did not provide a prescription, I would not return. This was an unpleasant experience

Our past 2 appointments for my son started so late. Last time we waited more than an hour to be seen, and today we are approaching the 1 hour mark. Understandable that there are other people ahead but seems like patients are overbooked and time is squeezed in for everyone. We booked this appointment FOUR MONTHS AGO. Its really unprofessional to be honest and very inconsiderate of other peoples time. Please make sure you allow ample time for every patient and to make scheduled appointments on time or a reasonable wait. This is ridiculous!

Call me weird, but eye exams freak me out. I really, really dislike the process and have experienced panic attacks. The doctors here (I have seen three) are all patient and put me at ease. I am knocking off a few stars because I've had bad experiences with the optical shop. Twice the technicians in the shop have ruined glasses by exposing the lenses to heat during the adjustment process.
I cannot see without my glasses. Luckily it was light outside and I could use my prescription sunglasses to drive home where I had an extra pair. The lenses were replaced; however, it should not have happened and it was a huge inconvenience. This has never happened to me at any other office.

Dr. Vinca is superb! She recently performed cataract surgery on both my eyes. My "new" vision makes me appreciate how precious our eyes and sight are! She is professional and efficient but warm and caring and takes the time to answer questions! Everyone in her office, both optometrists and office staff, were helpful and equally professional. I am most grateful.

I was referred to Dr. Vinca and Peninsula Eye Physicians for cataract treatment and had a fabulous experience. Dr. Vinca took the time to answer my many questions over multiple visits and to discuss the available options. The two surgeries were a breeze, and Dr. Vinca went out of her way with personal post-operative phone calls and follow ups to ensure that everything went well.
The multifocal IOLs that she selected for me were a perfect match for my lifestyle and I am delighted with my visual acuity (now two months post-op on the last eye). The entire crew at Peninsula Eye Physicans has been available and supportive throughout the process and I would not hesitate to refer a friend or family member to them in the future.

We waited for 50 minutes after our scheduled appointment to be served! The technician who took images of my daughter's eyes said she was double booked. Two patients were scheduled for the same appointment! Since my daughter has school after the eye appointment, I informed the front desk staffs and checked with them multiple times for the waiting time.
They kept telling me soon but never bothered to check on the status. When I requested them to check with the technician for approximate time, they refused. On top of it, we were told the exam only takes five minutes when we scheduled the appointment. The technician told us that it could be a 45 minutes exam! It ended up to be over an hour appointment for only 10 minutes of exam time with majority of it was waiting time.
If I knew it took this long, I would have reschedule it or schedule the appointment on some other day when my daughter has half day of school. We were very disappointed with this service! It seems like none of the staffs, the scheduler, the technician and the front desk staffs are proficient at their job. We definitely not recommend this service to anybody!

A great clinic for your vision and eye health. As a visual media producer and professional photographer, my eyes are absolutely critical to my work and life. After suffering from major eye aches and pains for years due to constant pixel-peeping at my computer screen for hours at a time, I decided to get a work prescription, even though I had perfect vision otherwise.
First I went to my local warehouse optometrist in San Jose who gave me a prescription and felt I had another more serious issue. The glasses helped for about a year but then the intense pains were back. That's when I decided to try Peninsula Eye after some online research. Dr. Wendy Lin has been my optometrist at Peninsula Eye for the past 3 years and she is by far the most caring and able eye doctor you will find in the Bay Area.
She found that there wasn't anything else wrong with my eye, except the prescription I had gotten from the warehouse. She was spot on with changing my prescription the first time I went in and I haven't had to change it since, with my eye aches all gone. She remembers who I am every year, doesn't rush, doesn't make you feel like a number. When it comes to doctors, too bad they can't all be like Dr. Lin -- going to see them would be a pleasure.
The office itself is very nice. Small, quiet and intimate. Subdued lighting. Nice staff. Quick and easy paperwork to fill out. Repeat visits only require rechecking your details. It generally doesn't get overly busy so there are always seats to relax in, and a flat-screen and little, table water fountain to lose yourself gazing at. The optical department is also very nice.
They are extremely friendly, helpful and most importantly, patient. They will answer all your questions and give you their true opinions on how the frames look on you. Their frames selection can be better, though, but of course there are many other places to get your frames. Plenty of inexpensive, underground parking at the office building, and the attendants are polite. I'm always in and out of there with no issues, smile on my face. At the time of my review, they accept VSP.
