I recently completed my externship at Dr. Washington's clinic. I had an opportunity to get hands-on clinical experience including taking history and performing physical examination with his supervision. He provides autonomy with writing a SOAP not and discusses any changes he would recommend. In addition, we conducts one-on-one sessions at the end of the shift everyday to discuss interview skills, patient care and latest research studies.

Every shift was productive and I had something to learn. He not only teaches medical aspects but also discusses how to navigate the US healthcare system. He had been a great mentor who continuously supported my journey towards residency by providing advice on improving application and interview skills. In addition, he regularly gave assignments to read the latest research on certain topics and discussed them in the clinic.

His inputs in promoting a holistic healthcare has encourages the patients and externs to work on lifestyle changes while getting treated for the ailments. This helped them sustain the improvement. I continue to cherish working with him and his mentorship has been a great asset in the past year. I recommend Dr. Washington's externship to other foreign graduates and I would suggest to make the most of it.

I consulted Dr Washington after receiving a questionable diagnosis from another doctor. Dr. Washington took the time to ask me quite a few questions that made it clear that he was really trying to understand the nature of my condition. As a result, I was able to avoid an unnecessary course of antibiotics, and the condition is healing nicely with the simple application of heat. It was nice to feel heard and respected.

I just did a four-week Externship at Dr. Roger Washington's practice. As an international medical graduate, it's extremely essential to have some exposure to the clinical setting in the US. During the four weeks, I learned a lot about the insurance/healthcare policy, communication skills, medical knowledge, and most importantly, the value of a family doctor.

This experience has definitely improved my clinical knowledge but most importantly my interpersonal skills which is of much value in the USA.
