Our providers are experts when it comes to Mohs micrographic surgery, excisions, and reconstruction techniques. When you visit one of our locations for skin cancer treatments, our doctors and staff will take the time to explain all of your options to you, and design a customized skin cancer treatment plan for your needs.Over 90 percent of all skin cancers are caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

At California Skin Institute, pathologists provide patients with expert interpretation of biopsies. Our Department of Pathology, located in our San Jose-Los Gatos office, is the most advanced full-service pathology lab in a private dermatology practice in the Bay Area. Staffed by board-certified skin pathologists, certified histotechnicians, and an experienced histology staff, we offer interpretation results in a matter of days. All of our biopsies and excisions are interpreted in-house by our pathologists in order to provide a more accurate diagnosis.

It is well worth my 2-3 hour round trip in hopeless LA traffic to see Dr. Gutmark. She made an impression in my first exam with her several years ago - she did the most thorough exam for skin cancer I had ever had, and was likewise thoughtful in her time to respond to all my questions - and that is the main reason why I continue to see her despite moving far away.
She has helped me with all my skin issues and concerns, and it really helps to have a history with her; I especially like that they now take pictures on the iPad to refer back to problem spots or areas to continue monitoring. Staff is usually responsive and pleasant as well, and the office is clean, so all around good experience.

I arrived a few minutes early to my appointment at 815. I luckily found street parking but only put 45 mins for the meter. I arrived to my appointment, there was one person ahead of me. However as patients started to trickle in, I was not seen until 2 other patients (who arrived after me.)I'm not sure if things were expedited because after the 2 people were called, I had to ask what was going on.
I was in the waiting room for over 30 mins and when I was finally seen for my annual skin test, I was literally in and out in less than 10 mins. Not sure why they make appointments so early if no one is in the office to see patients. More over, when confirming your appointment you get an email, text message and phone call. After I already confirmed through email and text, not sure what the point of the phone call is but it's pretty excessive.

I am a new patient and was very happy with my first appointment. The facility clean, nicely decorated and has lots of space in the lobby. The front staff was very friendly. I literally have never been seen so quickly in my entire life! Dr. Weaver was very thorough and even noticed some issues with my skin that I didn't think were anything that needed to be addressed. Highly recommend this office.

They seem pretty fast when they start the service but it's all about money. I am the patient and requested the biopsy result and they charge me $25 for medical record request and another $25 for medical records. I just asked for a copy of paper (1 page) and they still want to charge me. I, as a patient, have the right to know the result and get a copy of it and they still want to charge me $50 for one paper.
They way they speak to me is like I won't give your result unless you pay me NOW. Yes, $50 doesn't matter to me but I will never go back to this office. The young lady physician is not experienced either. This is a ridiculous place.

Everyone at the front desk at CalifornIa Skin Institute is welcoming and very helpful. There were some insurance issue I had but Jaquelin was vey helpful and resolved the issue right away. Dr. Pun was thorough with my examination and answered my questions about existing moles I have as well as some new bumps I have observed on my skin. Everything is benign ( thank goodness ). I was put at ease with Dr. Pun's calming bedside manner. I would highly recommend The California Skin Institute and Dr. Pun.

I've been a patient for about 6 months. So far my experience has been great, but the reason I've given this office 4 stars is because it is very difficult to get in contact with the office and the front end is not so friendly at times. I do try my best to be understanding considering we are all going through so much during this pandemic and it can be very stressful. Nonetheless, Dr. Gutmark has given me some relief on my skin condition.
I'm still undergoing treatment, but I've made a huge improvement since I first visited their office back in March. I honestly had no hope of feeling better and after receiving proper treatment, I believe I'm on my way to feeling back to my old self again. There is parking in the building, but their office does not validate and street parking is also available too. Coffee shops are located across the street as well.

"Fast efficient service." I said I'd be back but have now changed my mind. After receiving the bill for a quick exam and a 10 sec./$230 deep pore/whitehead pop. I will NOT BE BACK. 42 locations means your bill is going to be jacked up even if you have insurance. Total bill $435 for 10 minutes with a Dr. who was training someone while seeing me. Fast efficient service with a high price tag. I miss Dr. Estrada
