This used to be a nice place to go and now I can say it is the worst place. I am looking for another doctor. I went in for a few reasons and with out going into to much detail was treated like I was diseased or something and couldn't even get the doctor to look at my infection. I was also bitten by a tick and the doctor didn't look at the bite site when I asked and just dismissed it.
I also asked for my iud to be checked couldn't get her to even look at me asked for her to refill prescriptions from the Er and dentist was told I don't think you need them. So I left and said thank you for not helping me. I will go to the ER. I went to a different doctors office the next day which I had to pay out of pocket because they didn't accept my insurance and they were so nice and helped with all the things that were wrong and removed the iud which was cutting into me and causing a lot of issues.
Also put me on antibiotics for the infections and tick bite and some stronger pain meds. Very sad how this facility has gone so far down hill in such a short period of time and there is no compassion for their patients. I felt horrible and was crying when I left there.

Very helpful and professional staff. I've chosen my primary care physician from their pool of doctors. They legitimately care for their patients however scheduling appointments can be difficult as they are largely overwhelmed by the illegal immigrant population. Not being racist, it's just a matter of fact with all clinics in California. That and most hospitals are overwhelmed with hypochondriacs during this COVID thing.

I waited almost an hour for my doctor to come for my prenatal appointment. I decided to leave, nobody communicates anything. My last appointment I had with my doctor I felt like my concerns were dismissed. The hospital system is so heavily impacted it feels like no body cares about anything anymore.

Absolutely terrible service and they have no clue how to answer the phone. they have never answered the phone for me in the 5 years i've been going there. i'm on hold for almost an hour each time and after a while the call just disconnects because you've been holding for so long. absolutely ridiculous. the ladies that answer the phone need better training or to simply just get fired and have someone else do it.

My newborn daughter's first appointment unfortunately had to be here.my wife had a c section and she can't carry things and walk very far. They would not allow me in to carry my child to her doctors appointment They wanted me to hand my baby to some bs rent a cop at the front door so HE can carry my newborn in.are you effing kidding me I'm constantly worried about dropping her myself and you think I'm ok with some stranger carrying her.
I needed to be there to carry the baby and the diaper bag and be a part of her healthcare and my wife needed to be there to so they could observe her feeding. Yes it is also a pride thing but I won't have a stranger carry my child.

If you have ongoing unknown chronic issues with anxiety in the mix, you just get treated like that's the only thing to exist and only root cause. Also When I brought up hormonal concerns(unknown hormonal imbalance), I was told "all women deal with this" from a female physician despite something being wrong.

I have been a patient/client of Petaluma Health Center for several years and yes there are issues with getting through the phone system, and communication with other facilities but no worse than any of the others I have had to deal with (quite a few I call them as I see them) (such as Petaluma Valley Hospital botched multiple surgeries, simple ones then" cleansed" The records) these past years, and while the majority of their clientele and or staff may be non-white I have never experienced any bias on the part of staff or services rendered at this facility, my doctor I will simply call him dr. AA Has always been there for me and when he was not available others were likewise knowledgeable professional and courteous and doing all they could within the mandates of The system

Being a senior, I cast about for a dentist I could afford. I selected Petaluma Health Center's dental clinic in Pt Reyes Station for a local option. I should have heeded a red flag. On arrival for my first appointment I saw an older woman leaving the offices in tears, literally. "This place is a total rip off", she lamented. I went in and was seen in short order by a pleasant young dentist.
He filled a tooth that was bothering me, I paid, and was on my way. Over the next few months the tooth continued to bother me and I made an appointment and was seen by a different dentist. She was equally pleasant and ground down the filling. When I asked about the dentist who did the intial work I was told that he was gone. Fast forward to the present, the same tooth was still issue.
I made yet another appointment. On arrival for this appointment I was met by a rushed office staff [they were short handed] and seated on a dental chair right away. I was asked if they could take X-rays and they took a full set with additional view of the tooth that was bothering me. After that a surly young dentist came in, looked briefly at the X-rays, peered in my mouth for less than a minute, then asked me what my level of distress was that constituted "an emergency".
I told her that I didn't have an "emergency" and I had been having this problem for at least 2 years, since they filled the tooth intitally. I asked her what was going on and she replied, "It could be a cracked tooth." I asked what the procedure was going to be and and how much it would cost. medicare doesn't cover dental and I have no dental insurance.] She replied, "I won't know until I get in there. I'm in the middle of another complicated procedure."She turned to her assistant and said, "book him an appointment next week", turned and left with out another word.
I asked if a hygenist could clean my teeth and was told that I need to book a separate appointment. This was starting to get irritating as I had said I wanted a cleaning up front when I booked this appointment. I inquired why the charges would be and i was informed that the office manager was out for the day. This was the third dentist I had seen at this office without a resolution.
This all happened on July 20. I just received a bill yesterday for $145, $83.77 was for exam. Said exam was all of "less that a minute". I called the main offices today at 8:30 and after a half hour on hold a rather nice young woman came on the line and I explained the situation. I said I knew I was on the hook for the X-rays but I get the "exam" was a sham and didn't feel I was justified in paying it.
She said she would talk to her supervisor and call me back. I knew what the answer would be before she called back. I was liable for the entire bill. Grudgingly, I'll pay it, but never go back. Moral: trust your instincts and BEWARE!

They NEVER ANSWER. Now, they're advertising that calls made between 6:15p and 8pm M-Th are answered more frequently. To the average bear. What do you think that does for that time slot? Don't fall for it. This is McMedicine at it's worst. Some of us are STUCK with it. If you don't HAVE to be, DON'T BE! Go elsewhere if you can.

I have been going to their beautifully designed facility for 7 years, and have worked with so many professional, while at the same time warm-hearted, people. It's a wonderful "village" atmosphere that the many bilingual employees add to immensely. Thank you, Petaluma Health Center, for seeing me through all life's ups and downs!

Before Covid I really enjoyed the doctors and staff here. I have only needed them for annual check-ups and managing prescriptions. But the last several months they have been impossible to get in touch with. Wait times are over 1/2 hour long and usually I have to hang up and try again later. I ran out of a prescription and it took me several days to get someone on the phone.
My pharmacy also tried and couldn't get in touch with anyone. It would either ring busy or the hold time was too long. I finally got through today and the receptionist was so rude. Don't waste your time if you are a new patient.

I think this health center needs to either train their people a little better, or get more help. After being on hold for over an hour and a half, when the receptionist/representative/operator/ whoever it is that answers the phone out of the number of employees they have doing that, hung up on my call. It went from the annoying we are currently experiencing a high number of phone calls voice memo they have for when they put you on hold, to the line being disconnected. I'm assuming they pressed the wrong number and instead of answering my call, they simply hung up. I will now change my provider, and not come back to this health center, unless I have absolutely no other option.

I am so impressed with the PHC. My son has used their services for years and once when I was visiting him last year I got sick. I didn't know who to call so I called them and they got me in that day. The doctor was great--gave me her full attention for at least 15 minutes, which is more than I usually get (!) even though it was really just a very bad cold and they were obviously busy. I'm a senior and have since moved to Petaluma.
Today they called me to schedule my COVID vaccine. The office appears to be very organized. I will continue to receive my care from PHC. When I get to know them better I may even give them 5 stars!

Horrible experience here. At first it was great but something happened to where they completely lowered their standards for how they handle patients. I had a first phone appt and they never called. second phone appt and they never called again. Third, very important appt to get a colpo/biopsy cancelled the day of after scheduling it two and a half weeks in advance.
When i complained to my doctor (Dr.chen)they didn't apologize or explain why they missed both of my phone visits, and seemed to act like it was my own fault they never called me for my phone appt. Was very disheartening and I'm happy I was able to switch to Sutter. Dr Chen is impatient, and honestly rude. She needs to be replaced if she can't show some sympathy, care and understanding for her patients!

Of all the medical providers I've ever had, been a client of or needed medical help from, Petaluma Health Center is by far the absolute worst! Where do I begin. Hmm. Their phone system is archaic. Might as well plan to be on hold for an hour or more if you call in after 9:00 am when they open. Service: Horrible at best. I had a condition that needed medication.
Not a big deal I thought until I asked for the medication. No telephone appointments here. I had to go in, sit in a waiting room with 20 other people who were coughing, wheezing & hacking up whatever just to get my eye treated. When I asked "why don't you have telemedicine" I was told "we're a bit behind the times". No kidding Sherlock! In a time when the CDC & the World Health Organizaiton are encouraging people to stay home, I had to physically go to the waiting room to see my doctor in person to get medication that I should've been able to have a video appointment for is appalling. Absurd! Ridiculous! Unbelievable! are the only words that pop into my head about this company.
They remediate health care back 30 years. Progressive - NO! Helpful - NO! Focused on preventing disease - Heck NO! Run. Run as fast as you can away from Petaluma Health Center! They do not care at all about patient safety or reducing the spread of disease. They advocate for spreading it. You have great doctors but your policies to deal with people during a pandemic are horrific! You should be shut down or at best your Board of Directors should be fired!

Came in new from another state and Was treated with kindness and respect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though I sort medical assistants on a sliding scale I was treated with kindness and understanding just as if I were in a private setting. Great staff, super great nurse and a nurse practitioner that treated me with dignity respect. How lucky I am to have found such a wonderful place!

I recently transferred from rohnert park health center to Petaluma health center. Being 34 weeks pregnant I was already irritated at the fact they switched doctors on me 3 times! When I asked if my original doctor was ever going to come back I got 3 different answers. 30 weeks into my pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had to be sent to Petaluma center because (as I was told) no one was "qualified to work with a pregnant patient with gestational diabetes". Ok.weird.
So I do what I am told and start driving way out of my way to Petaluma. I had to be seen by Fiona Redwood, who is the ONLY doctor who can see patients with GD.ok weird again. Only 1 doctor in both facilities that is "qualified". When I first met her I introduced myself and she was very cold and condescending. There were multiple times during my appointment where I actually stopped and thought to myself "This lady is really being THIS rude to me." such an uncomfortable experience.
So uncomfortable that I skipped my blood test to go to my car to cry. I figured she didnt like me because I'm young and she treated me like a school teacher punishing a student. I am due in 1 month and I ended up switching doctors and facilities completely, which totally induces more anxiety but it's better than having to deal with rude and unorganized doctors.
They also told me I had no choice but to deliver my baby at the Petaluma hospital. Even though Santa Rosa Memorial is 1.2 miles from my home. Once again, they said no one was qualified to take me with diabetes in Santa Rosa. After calling memorial myself they told me it was absolutely not true. So.super strange.

Horrible! My insurance just changed after 10 years with Kaiser. I have a PPO from a large insurance provider. I wanted to get established with a new Dr. and found two in network dr's at this clinic. When I called to make an apt I specifically asked if the center was in network and was told yes. When I asked for an apt with the specific referenced Dr. they said that they weren't accepting new patients but had another dr with an apt the next day. Great!
No time like the present. I made sure that this dr was also in network and they said because I had a ppo I could see whomever I wanted. I arrived early to check in thinking there would be forms. When I checked in with the girl at the front desk she was very nice but said she wasn't sure if my insurance was in network but that she would call. After sitting for 45 minutes she said that she still wasn't sure if the insurance was in network and asked I fill out a financial liability form which I refused saying I was told that my insurance was in network and i wasn't going to be liable for unnecessary charges when I would just go some place else.
I was finally taken back to where I was hit with a list of obnoxious, highly personal and irrelevant questions. The whole process made me feel enormously uncomfortable and was reminded me of the free clinic at my university. The dr. finally came in and tried to explain the questions saying they were mandated by their software. Never was I asked about useful bits of my medical history, family history or medications. I would rather suffer in agony and than come back to this place. It was horrible and traumatic. If you have private insurance and options do not set foot in this building!

I love the doctors and staff however, the pharmacy staff is a whole different story. I am basing my one star on the pharmacy alone. A woman who works at the pharmacy by the name of Tiffany is so mean and nasty. I cannot believe that the health center would even want her representing them or their practice. My initial encounter was so awful, I left in tears.
I decided maybe she had just had a bad day, but oh no, this must be her everyday behavior. She is abrasive and downright rude. I asked to speak with the supervisor of the pharmacy to let him know that I was unhappy and wanted to file a grievance and his response was "cool." Cool?! What kind of a professional speaks to a patient like that? No apology? Just cool? Be warned! Do not interact with Tiffany, she is a miserable human being who does not care about YOUR care or feelings.

Despite having significant symptoms indicating a hormonal issue, I've received the same tests and no answers for a year. There is very little follow-up care and the moment they see that I have depression/anxiety, I get treated as though my symptoms are imagined instead of indicative of something more serious. I've been shuffled between departments, asked for referrals to an endocrinologist, but they will not refer me or give me the tests I've asked for based on genetic predispositions to certain autoimmune disorders that fit the symptoms I'm having.
The OB that they shuffled me off to was so condescending and uncaring, she nearly made me cry during my visit. The day the front of my neck physically swelled up and I went in to have it checked, the doctor (who could hardly keep her head up or keep a train of thought because she was "sorry but she's very tired today") told me it was just anxiety. (I forgot that anxiety causes swollen necks. silly me.) When I left the exam room to use the restroom after asking for tests and being denied them despite the other symptoms and now the swollen front of my neck, I could hear the extraordinarily unprofessional doctor and nurse talking not so kindly about me and about how patients always think they know best.
How dare I, a 27 year old woman with menopausal symptoms increasing in severity, ask for several different tests (rather than the ones I've already had 4 times) in an effort to get to the cause of the symptoms. I am extremely disappointed and angry. I may just be a patient but I expect to be treated like they care about my well-being during the appointments rather than making me feel like a burden because I tried to advocate for my health. I've never written a google or yelp review before but they've certainly earned this one.
