For over 80 years, the professionals at Eye Care Associates have been meeting the needs of area patients. Eye Care's history began in 1935 when Dr. Elmer Wenaas joined Dr. William Hiram Evans in an eye care practice in downtown Youngstown. Interestingly, this was the first time ophthalmology was broken out as a specialty practice in our area.
I've been a patient of Dr. Aey for many years now, and couldn't recommend a better more caring doctor. It was a very good experience. Dr. Erzurum removed the foreign object from my left eyelid. Told me my xtremely dry eyes are what is causing my blurry vision. So I must clean them daily with a special eyelid wash and use moisturizer several times a day.

Very Nice sounding lady answered phone, she then asked me what insurance I have before scheduling exam. As soon as I informed her of my provider, she replied in an annoyed sounding tone, "So sorry, we don't accept your provider, AT ALL!" then hung up on me. (What a great way to lose business, had you stayed on the line for another 3 seconds, you would have heard me say "OK, I'll pay cash then.")

Before you book an appointment, make sure you ask about the cost. My wife and I went in for a routine eye exam, I wanted to go there because I am looking at possible cataract removal. I was expecting a little higher price but when we got the bill $325.00 each for an eye exam and it wasn't even with a specialist. The most I ever paid was under 100 dollars for the same type of exam. I wrote them and never got a response. The service is good but the price is outrageous.

I take my neighbor to get shots in his eyes down off market Street towards downtown Youngstown I've taken him many times set in that parking lot for 2 hours and 15 minutes from his appointment time for him to come out in that hot sun very uncalled for whoever does your scheduling needs to adjust their schedules a lot of times he's out of there in an hour one other time it took 2 hours he said today no one even talked to him for 35 minutes after he got in there at a scheduled time which was 8:00 45 no and saw him still going on 9:30

Very poor appointment management. They book appointment times but you end up waiting for over an hour just to get to a room. My suggestion would be to notify patients ahead of time of long waiting. But they know once people get there they aren't going to leave. The management is more involved with volume business not quality services for patients.

I asked for my contact prescription but they refused to give it to me without a $75 "fitting exam." I've explained I have had contacts for most of my life and did not need to be shown how to wear them. I contacted my previous doctor from 3 years ago who had no problem mailing my contact prescription to me. The staff was nice. The doctor was impersonal.

The staff here was great. Especially the nurse that assisted with my procedure and took great care of everything with such a polite attitude. Dr, Smith sat down and explained everything in detail and during the procedure, explained everything that was happening before she made the next move. Down to the sensation I would feel from it. I am very happy with the services I received here.
