Arturo E. Betancourt, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cataract eye surgeon at Baltimore Washington Eye Center. Dr. Betancourt is the President and Medical Director of Baltimore Washington Eye Center and is recognized as a talented eye surgeon who brings unparalleled training, education, experience, and exceptional leadership to our center.
Shari Strier, O.D. is an Optometrist and Contact Lens Specialist at Baltimore Washington Eye Center. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from Tulane University and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry - where she graduated first in her class.
Routine eye exams are performed by the Ophthalmologists and Optometrists at Baltimore Washington Eye Center. Routine eye exams are recommended by the eye doctors at intervals that help to preserve eye health and vision by allowing for early detection of eye diseases, problems and conditions and treatment as necessary, as well as for providing the best eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions to see clearly.

For the past several decades, my eye care is in the hands of Baltimore Washington Eye Center - Drs. Betancourt and Strier; why so long, because they are so good. The doctors are VERY knowledgeable, very thorough, and will give you plenty of non-rushed time to explain, answer questions, discuss alternatives, all with a helping hand, a patient focus, and smile too.
Very professional, no rushing allowed. The staff technicians are extremely well trained, friendly, and competent. And their eyewear department is equally competent and friendly.

CONSUMER BEWARE! The doctors are good, but if you like your money, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I was charged for a billing error ON THEIR PART and tried to resolve it amicably, even taking my complaint to their Business Manager and Chief Operating Officer. Both promised to look into the matter, then completely ignored my request to follow up. I waited to write this review in the hopes they would respond to the Better Business Bureau, which they have also ignored.
Two of my family members had their Lasik done there and we were given good medical care from the doctor and nursing staff. Too bad their business practices have ruined it for my family and for those who heed this warning.

I tried to contact them for 2 days. Recording took my message and they said they will return my call in 24 hours. After 24 hours of not returning my call, I made a follow up call, somebody picked up the phone and said ok I'll transfer you to someone can help you. Same thing happened recording took my message again. I'm calling from California to request for my doctors note to forward it to my primary doctor. 2 days already nobody call me back.
I even begged them because it's urgent. I don't even think they are checking their messages. If they will not call me until tomorrow, I don't know where to report this matter.

I called to make an appointment the morning after I went to the ER last night because I super glued my eye shut and this is the office they suggested I make an appointment with. The woman on the phone said they were "not on call with that hospital today" so they wouldn't see me. I'm confused and not entirely sure why not being on call with a certain hospital means I cannot make an emergency appointment, so I had to find someone else to help with my eye emergency.

After doing a lot of research, I selected the BWEye Center to complete my cataract surgery. With each visit, I was impressed with the level of care, detail, and professionalism I met with. During surgery days, operations ran very smoothly, and I was in and out in a very short amount of time. I was extremely happy with the service provided by Dr. Betancourt and his staff. I opted to go with the multifocal lens, and have been extremely happy with the results.

Just had Lasik done with Dr. Spagnolo and I couldn't be happier. To start -- the staff is absolutely amazing. Amber was quick to respond to all questions ahead of time and was so helpful with prep/easing nerves, etc. The Lasik team is extremely professional and created a safe and comfortable environment. I was in and out of the practice for my surgery within the hour! My vision is 20/20 and had 0 complications! I have been going to BWEye for years and highly recommend the practice and Dr. Spagnolo for all eye/Lasik needs!

The woman Who answers the phone, I know her name however I do not want this review to be removed, Is quite possibly the most difficult person that I have ever had to deal with. Not only do they never answer the, But when they do they make it seem like every request you are making is above and beyond the normal scope of their job duties. I have never been talked down to like I have been spoken to by multiple members of the staff here. The real kicker? The doctors are All phenomenal.

I was pretty nervous going in for LASIK, but I knew it was something I really wanted to do. Dr. Spagnolo and his team put those worries to rest with their professionalism and patience. He explained every step of the process and his sense of humor and positive personality helped to keep me calm during the procedure. All in all, it was a far better experience than I expected. 10/10 would recommend.
