Services
Our physicians are known and respected for their expertise, dedication, and commitment to providing the finest radiation oncology care. They work with your primary doctor, surgeons and/or oncologist to provide coordinated, comprehensive cancer care that is precisely tailored to your unique needs. In addition to the physicians, several other staff members collaborate together for your treatment:.
Chesapeake Potomac Regional Cancer Center (CPRCC) was formed in 2006 by University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, Medstar St. Mary's Hospital, CalvertHealth Medical Center, Adventist HealthCare and Holy Cross Hospital. Through this unique partnership between physicians, health care leaders and the community, CPRCC has been able to provide cutting-edge radiation therapy services to Charles, St. Mary's, and Calvert counties for now more than a decade. Our mission is to promote all-inclusive cancer care to the community, enabling collaboration with a wide range of clinicians in the area including surgeons, medical oncologists, and primary care physicians.
Paid by treats and food, the "furry friends" of CPRCC represent our staff behind the scenes. Many of us cherish our pets, which help to provide caring and supportive care to each other and our patients. Whenever you visit, please feel free to share with us pictures and stories of your furry (and sometimes not furry!)
Radiation therapy uses types of radiation to treat cancer and non-cancer diseases. Radiation works by damaging the genetics in cancer cells and therefore stopping them from growing. Eventually these cells will die off and are cleared from the body. Side effects of radiation occur because normal cells can be affected as well but are able to repair the damage unlike cancer cells. This helps us to treat cancer and allow your body to heal itself.
