My s/o scheduled a visit months ago, was seen for her visit and was satisfied with the service provided by her Provider - so this has nothing to do with the practice of medicine. However, when she arrived she was told that her insurance would cover the visit. A week later she gets a notification from the clinic that her insurance, in fact, did not cover that clinic and that she would have to pay everything out of pocket because both the clinic AND the provider were out of network.
Everywhere we go, BEFORE A VISIT STARTS at the dentists, specialists, urgent cares, (with the except of the ER) we are told what our benefits are, how much our co-pays/coverage includes, and usually it's no exact and we get a bill a few weeks later for a small portion not covered - the reality of insurance. But I've never been to a place that flat-out lied that a visit, much less the specific Dr, is entirely out of network.
How could you get such black-and-white information incorrect. It is neither efficient nor fair to the patient/customer. I have used a variety of health insurance plans and have been to, in the last 10 years, chiro, pt, urgent care, neuro, eye doctors, dentists, massage, mental health practices in different states. They all at least would tell me that I was covered. You need to improve you insurance practices. What a rip off.
