Thanks to advanced technology, many surgeries, like alimentary tract and abdominal surgery, can now be minimally invasive. Using minimally invasive, or laparoscopic, techniques, surgeons can operate with smaller incisions. Sometimes, they even use tiny video cameras to help with the procedure. Minimally invasive surgery means that patients have less blood loss, less pain, and smaller scars.
Bariatric surgery is surgical procedure that makes changes to the digestive system and allows the patient to lose weight. Bariatric surgery is also referred to as Metabolic surgery because the procedures actually impact the physiology of the digestive system and change the metabolism of caloric and non caloric nutrients as they are absorbed into the bloodstream.
This is the latest evolution in surgical techniques. During laparoscopic surgery, small tools and a camera are inserted through very small incisions. This minimally invasive technique results in easier recovery, less pain, and better outcomes. Most bariatric surgeries are performed this way. However, there are limitations to laparoscopic surgery.
Oncologic surgery is a field of cancer care that focuses on using surgery to diagnose, stage and treat cancer. Surgical oncologists may also perform surgeries to help control pain, increase a patient's comfort level, and manage cancer-related symptoms and side effects. There are many factors that go into determining if a patient is a good candidate.

I was diagnosed with a GIST, a tumor in my stomach and after two upper GI endoscopes with different gastrologist, I was scheduled for surgery with a physician that wanted to do the traditional procedure with 3-8 incision to remove the tumor. I'm very active and was concerned about the recovery time so I ask if a laparoscopic procedure was an option and he said no.

Another physician I have been seeing suggested I contact Dr. Elariny for a second opinion. Thankful that I did! I was able to see him within a few days, very impressive. He reviewed my files better than my gastrologist and previous surgeon. We discussed the options and I was scheduled for surgery by weeks end. I couldn't be happier with him and his staff! Curtis, the gentle giant, was polite, friendly and extremely proficient!

He had everything scheduled and ready without delay! Dr. ELariny is not one of the typical physicians with the 15 minute in and out time that makes you feel like you're just another number. He listened to my questions and concerns, he was attentive and compassionate. I can't say enough to express my appreciation to him. His bedside manner and follow-up care has been exemplary and I give Dr. Elariny my highest recommendation. Choosing him was one of the best decision of my life.
