It's our vision to strengthen our community through the services we provide. As the community changes and grows, so does the need for healthcare services. We have spent the last decade growing into the space we have in our various facilities to provide the current scope of services. In the past five years, we have seen significant growth in volumes in almost every service that CVMC provides. Some services are currently at capacity with others at capacity very soon without a physical expansion of space.

I have had 5 star care here in the past, their medical team is outstanding. But-their Covid testing system/ protocol need work. Appalling how often nobody answers the phone! No option to leave a message/contact the lab in charge of Covid testing. After multiple calls, I spoke to Carol-Told her I had Covid symptoms and I needed a test. She said I need a doctors order.
She had no idea where/who to send it to. My doctors office didn't know either. I had the same conversation with Dori The next morning. I pressed for a fax/phone # until she put me on hold and found the fax # I requested. I know they're overwhelmed but The fax number for Dr.'s orders should be a simple request - don't they get that request every day multiple times?
Order was sent it. I confirmed & showed up to the Covid parking area. Again nobody answered the phone. I waited 15 minutes called again. Denise/lab answered & said they would find the order and be out shortly. Nope. Apparently a box wasn't checked on the order so it had to be totally redone. Another hour goes by. Christie comes out and does a rapid results test first, and then the PRT test.
I asked her when the results will come she said "a few hours" for the rapid results-a few days for the other. I was pleasantly surprised. And relieved. It's been a long 5 days. No results came. Sleepless night. I called the lab. After several minutes of confusion I'm informed that there's no order for a rapid results test. The fact that she did one is irrelevant.
Instead of calling my doctor or trying to confirm it my results will NOT be forthcoming because the test was apparently not listed on the second order. Really!? They have my sample they did BOTH tests. I HAVE symptoms-I was promised results in 3-4hours. How about you call my Dr for approval or me? I can get a Covid test at a drive-through without a doctors approval.
But if you have symptoms and you go to the hospital they don't want to run the results of a test they DID on me without ridiculously intricate paperwork Or communication?!. The techs get get 5 stars. They are not in charge of admin/protocol and procedures. Those are areas where this medical center really needs some streamlining-especially when people are terrified of Covid.
From the time I requested a test to the time I get results will be at least a week. That's not good enough. I feel for elderly patients who may not be as on top of things trying to get a Covid test when they have symptoms and they run into brick walls everywhere they turn. I guess I'll know in 3-4 days. Does that count the weekend?

I have been struggling so hard for awhile now with bilateral occipital neuralgia, to the point we moved home from Texas for better doctors. And better doctors are what I have experienced here. I have never come in asking for pain medication (I am terrified to take it) and never have these doctors ever made me feel like that's what I was there for.
In another state, I was consistently misdiagnosed and more or less chastised for coming to them in debilitating pain and assuming I wanted pain medication, when I simply wanted answers and relief. Electrical shocks throughout my head are incredibly scary and the pain is worse than freaking labor. This location has already seen me a hand full of times, but most recently, the ER doctor, I believe McNamara, was so willing to help stop my pain.
She came in with a plan which she discussed with me, none of which included pain pills, and within a half an hour, she had my headache much more under control. She gave me oxygen, which no ER visit, nor doctor has ever offered me, and while yes she gave me toradol, Benadryl, and regalan with it, I was shocked at how much relief I had with oxygen. I am so grateful for how nice these doctors are with me, especially her.
For not treating me like someone seeking pain pills, but genuinely trying to help me breakthrough the pain cycle. I can't explain how much it means to me to have someone not dismiss me and genuinely care about helping me. Thank you all so much. Your nurses who have done my IV's to the front receptionist, to this ER doctor, I appreciate all of you!

What a joke for medical care! My alarm was going off 15-20 times in about three hours time, if not more, and I was in extreme discomfort with major heart disturbances taking place over and over again every 10-15 minutes and intense pain with my body going numb and at the times this was happening and the alarms are going off, absolutely no one responded to your room to check on you in the emergency moment.
And when you question them, they just get all defensive and don't pay attention AT ALL to what you are experiencing that is SO painful. If you ever have a cardio issue, DO NOT go to this hospital. Go to Carson Tahoe or Renown.

They don't answer their phones. I tried all the numbers on their website and the only one which answered was the nursing station, who said their phones were down. But does that make sense as she was able to answer the phone there? If they can't deal with their phone system and get it back up after three days then I don't want them handling my health care.

They denied me medical treatment after I had been going to PT for almost 3 months. I was told I could not wear a mask for a unrelated medical reason and when I showed up for my PT they said that they could not allow me in without a mask. I explained my current situation and they said that they could not let me in because it is their policy that regardless of other medical issues you have to wear a mask.
So now I'm out of much needed PT because they are not understanding to others. I understand the whole Covid thing but there are extenuating circumstances that prevent some people from this policy. I learned today that the staff at CVMC and there higher ups just don't care.

Have been trying to get an appointment for over a month now with Job's Peak inside CVMC. First time I called the front desk person said I'd have to call back because apparently only one person can schedule patients that are referred. I call back the following Tuesday to be told by special scheduler that she doesn't have either of the referrals sent by two of my different doctors.
Call back 2 weeks later (she is in every other Tuesday), to be told that special scheduler is not available and that she would take a message and have her call me back. That was 3 days ago and lo and behold still no return call! What a joke and highly disappointing! Are you really that busy?
