Allergies affecting the eye very common in the Northwest. The most common allergies are those related to pollen, particularly in the spring bloom. Symptoms often include redness, itching, tearing, burning, stinging, and watery discharge, although they are not usually severe enough to require medical attention.
Mount Baker Vision Clinic accepts most insurances in this area, and offers a time of service (TOS) discount for same-day payments for patients with no vision insurance. Feel free to call us at 360.733.1720 to find out about your specific insurance.
This is the most common test used in an eye exam to evaluate your eyesight. It measures the eye's ability to see details at near and far distances. The test usually involves reading letters or looking at symbols of different sizes on an eye chart. Typically, each eye is tested individually and then both eyes are tested together with and without corrective lenses (if you wear them). Several types of visual acuity tests may be used by our optometrists. These eye exams check for gaps in your side (peripheral) vision.
Our eye doctors at Mt. Baker Vision Clinic evaluate and fit contact lenses for children, teens and adults of all ages. Some infants and young children will need contact lenses as medically necessary treatment of their eye condition(s). Many children and teens choose contact lenses in addition to their glasses for sports, activities, and school.

The doctors are good, but the staff are condescending, arrogant and rude. I wanted to get prescription lenses put into a set of frames I bought online. Lady on the telephone first ordered me to make an appointment, and then told me that my prescription was "expired" and I have to get an eye exam. Shouldn't that be my choice? My eyes are no different than they were a year ago. Forcing me to wait weeks/months for an exam and then wait even longer for the lenses is a scam to bilk my insurance company out of more money, and a waste of my time. I'll take my business somewhere else.

I had a minor emergency while skiing at the mountain. They squeezed me in and took care of my concern. Every single person on the staff was incredibly accommodating, pleasant and professional. Six stars!

I'm leaving this review at a one star and if I could give a zero I absolutely would. The Bellingham office is absolutely horrible the doctors are sweet and helpful but the front desk staff and the manager are extremely unprofessional. I've been going to mount baker Lynden for two years I've never missed an apt. Until this last month.

I received a no show bill of $50 which is $20 more than my visit bill and 5x more than my actual prescription cost. I am pregnant have a two year old and in the middle of a pandemic. I missed the appointment. The first time ever and of course it skipped my mind too to call. Did I make a mistake yes but when I tried to call to explain myself and how I was sorry the front desk lady kept interrupting me with the rules and how their time is very valuable.

I apologized and asked if there was anything I could do and that I really couldn't afford to pay 9x my prescription and 20$ more than my usual visit fee. I was met with no compassion or caring just a you need to pay your bill our time is valuable too. So I asked to speak with a manager where I broke down crying and was in hopes of some sort of compassion but instead was met with I will take off the fee this one time but our time is valuable and a snicker like she was holding back a laugh from my sobbing.

I explained this was a one time thing and I've been loyal customer for two years. Honestly I can't believe it I love my doctor but am switching practices. Mount baker vision I couldn't be more disappointed that you have 0 compassion for not only a pregnant toddler mom but we are all struggling and in the middle of a pandemic kind words and compassion don't cost you a thing.

I'm downgrading my review this year because they no longer will replace the lenses on glasses purchased elsewhere (online, they said). I had to take my frames to another clinic to get new lenses.

Being legally blind is a big problem but thanks to Mount Baker Vision Clinic and Dr. Koning I can see clearly now. Situated in a nice modern building close to the hospital and the Guide, this clinic has the best doctors and services in town. The also have a clinic in Lynden. After years of trying different optometrists and eyewear stores, I can finally say that this is the very best, from the polite and efficient receptionists down to the knowledgeable and professional Opticians.

I have never had any problems with billing, they have the most up to date equipment and the most thorough and personable physicians. Dr. Koning is fantastic at explaining everything and making sure I get the right prescription for my horrible eyes, and unlike other places I've tried, they don't try to sell old blind people like me the disposable contact lenses that everyone are wearing now. (I was roped into buying them once at another place and couldn't see a thing with them. Older people who have worn RGPs for years just can't get used to the difference in vision between the two materials, I was told by Dr. Koning.) The opticians are great at picking out the perfect fit and frame for my face.

The gal that helped me didn't try to sell me extra options but that might be because I actually need the photochromic and high index lenses (I am super light sensitive and have an incredibly strong prescription that makes my lenses very thick). I am so glad to have someone who knows what they are doing fit me and I love my new specs!

I always have a lovely experience, lots of help finding frames and a quick stop. Everyone you come in contact with makes you smile one way or another and that's a nice perk.

First visit yesterday! Office is nicely located and beautiful inside. Staff very friendly. I think I have found my new vision clinic! Dr. Kelly Taylor is wonderful! I love they have advanced technology and no air burst to the eye! They have a large selection of glasses including some that are very reasonable!

Just got my fantastic new glasses. Dr Kelly Larson is awesome (as is the rest of the staff). She adjusted my prescription, and my corrected vision (emphasis on corrected) is now 20/15. One caution: the designer frames and lens add-ons can get pricy, so be sure what your insurance will cover.

Mt. Baker Vision is a great option for eye care. My 2 young boys had a visit last month and everyone we interacted with provided excellent service. My boys are active and curious and Dr. Koning was able to include them in their exam at their level. Both boys required glasses and each had their own technician to help them choose. Both technicians were helpful and patient with one son who was very disappointed to have to wear glasses and one who was very excited and wanted to try every single pair.

I moved to Whatcom County in 08. Mt Baker Vision is where I've been going ever since I moved. I just tried to schedule a new eye exam. Mt Baker Vision informed me that They made a billing error when I was in last time in 2014, and they didn't charge me enough when I paid for my glasses. (okay?) So I asked them how much money I owe them? They said they couldn't tell me, because they sent me to collections.

I was baffled as to why they would send my balance to a collection agency in favor of to my address. So I started asking some questions to how they do billing and what not. So apparently when you get your bill, and pay for your glasses it's only an estimate. once you pay for the estimate, they can decide to charge you more if they like? It's based on what they think your insurance will pay vs the actual amount your insurance paid.

So rather than figuring out what you'll actually owe, and then billing you. They charge you twice! When they sent me my second bill based on their inaccurate estimation I had already moved, and my bills weren't forwarded to me. so I never knew anything about it. When I questioned the office manager who refused to give me her name about why I wasn't called about the second bill.

She said that it wasn't up to them to let me know I owed them more money. I explained that once I paid for my glasses I literally had no idea I would be billed twice for the same pair of glasses. the office manager told me to call the collection agency and hung up on me. I couldn't believe the way they just brushed me off as if I didn't matter to them. It's not like I intentionally tried to stiff them with a portion of the bill.

I offered over and over again to pay them whatever I owed them, their response was a cold dial tone after hanging up on me. I couldn't imagine hanging up on a customer in my line of work. Although I also couldn't imagine charging someone twice for the same product. In closing if you want lousy customer service, and to be literally double charged look no further than Mt Baker Vision. Update: Well, if it was only an "unfortunate misunderstanding" Please explain to me why a simple phone call to notify me of this second bill was too much to ask?

Also I went to your facility in person two days after I spoke with your office manager over the phone. I had my credit card literally in hand, and offered to settle this. She was still unwilling to let me pay the remaining balance. She was much nicer in person though. I guess it's harder to hang up on somebody who's standing right in front of you.

I called the collection agency and found out the amount I owed you $14.12. I understand not wanting to be stiffed for 14 bucks I really do, but come on. you guys could have just picked up the phone and let me know that your estimate was off by $14, and I would have been happy to to pay. Or when I took the time to drive to Bellingham to pay in person, you could have accepted payment from me, rather than quoting your policy at me.

It goes without saying that my experience dealing with all of this was awful. But that doesn't have to be anyone else's. Rather than justifying why your policies are the way they are. Maybe adopt some new ones, before this sort of thing ruins another patient's experience.
