Morganton Eye is proud of our exceptionally trained, experienced and skilled providers. Our doctors include only Board certified Ophthalmologists and Optometrists. We understand when choosing a doctor or surgeon, it is important for you to make an informed choice. This involves knowing the qualifications, training and experience of the doctor you select.
Jonathan C. Lowry, M.D. is our Board certified Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon devoted to improving both personal appearance and function of the eyes and face. Dr. Lowry is an extensively trained and experienced physician and surgeon devoted to delivering positive surgical outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Walton graduated as valedictorian from Upsala College in New Jersey. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. It was there that he also completed a residency in ophthalmology. Dr. Walton also served as Chief Resident while at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey.
Dr. Margo earned a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Margo completed an internship in internal medicine at the MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore; thereafter, she completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland Medical Center where she also served as Chief Resident.

Entire Experience Has Been Absolutely Superb. The Drs. Michael Taggart and Dr. Lowery Are So Awesome . I am so thankful for such kindness and professional Eye Experts in Morganton North Carolina. We are extremely blessed. The Technicians and Receptionists were wonderful. I had major Laser Astigmatism Surgery and Cataract Removal With Dr. Taggart. He is an excellent MD.

I just want to recognize this Eye Doctor in Morganton. I highly recommend him. I am a person with autism, sensory issues, agoraphobia, panic attacks, PTSD, and fear going to any doctor. My experience there today was absolutely amazing. From the call with a technician, to the receptionist, the nurse, and Dr Wade. I usually have severe panic at Drs but I did not at this office.
Very accommodating. Also to the lady who ordered my lenses after, YOU ARE A SWEETHEART. I had to share. I neglected going to an eye dr after a bad experience in 2014. But I had to go in for a Corneal Erosion caused by a sharp object cutting my eye in January, still causing issues up till today.

My mom is thrilled with her eyesight after her cataract surgeries. Her balance has improved so much she doesn't need to use her walker! Her confidence level has also increased and she's more like herself. Dr Taggart was right on the money with his advise. Thank you to Dr Taggart and his amazing team! They are always positive, knowledgeable and helpful. My mom will miss them in TX.

I was very satisfied with the professional care I received at Morganton Eye Physicians P.A. During my visits prior to my surgery and during my surgery, I was attended by professional, compassionate, and kind individuals. Dr. Michael Taggart was very professional and took time to explain every aspect of my eye surgery to me and my husband. I felt very comfortable with him and had confidence in his ability to perform my surgery. I feel my surgery was successful and I am very satisfied with the care I received at Morganton Eye Physicians.

Wonderful care. Doctor is highly skilled and compassionate, as was the entire cataract surgery team, including the anesthesiologist, who made sure my back did not give me pain during the procedure. I had been told by my friends and relatives to expect an assembly line approach, but the whole process was as if I had a private room at all times. Great results as well. Perfect!

It's been 10 years since my left eye cataract was repaired. Just completed my right eye and I have equal excellent results. The same anesthesiologist that was there for my first surgery was here for this one. I've had nothing but excellent care and the results speak for themselves 20/20 in both eyes. A little hedge on reading super small print but that goes for all of us really quite pleased with the results.
Nothing but excellent marks for the doctor and all of the individuals that we have come in contact with. Dr taggart explained everything in a clear and precise manner. Followed all instructions to the t and I could not be better pleased with the results. Thank you again for the excellent care.

I can't say enough about the absolutely wonderful surgery staff. They were patient, kind, thorough, understanding, and instilled complete confidence in me, and my husband, prior to surgery. They are professional and a great team. I'm very excited about having my next surgery and have shared my wonderful experience with others who are searching for the perfect eye doctor. I posted a review yesterday, and it was removed, so I will post again. I had a horrible experience here. I made an appointment a year ago. I called to verify, send they said I wasn't on the schedule.yes I am a patient, have been for a few years. I wear contacts and my prescription runs out next week. They couldn't get me in until April in Morganton.
They made an appointment for me in Rutherford College, but still the end of March. I had only the contacts in my eyes, which were already past the prescribed month. They only gave me one trial pair, which means I would have to wear these for over 2 months, when they are monthly. They did not work with me, and frankly were not pleasant to deal with.rather rude.
Other patients have been treated the same.they told me of their experiences. One has changed to another eye doctor, the other is in the process of changing. I understand why. You are just a number at Morganton Eye. They want the money, but are not willing to help, nor work with their patients. I'm glad other have had wonderful experiences here, wish I could say the same.
