My knee suddenly gave out on me while playing tennis so i suspected an MCL/ACL injury. The next day i went to the La Palma ER but was a bit apprehensive about the typical long wait and apathy one comes across quite often. The staff was friendly and pleasant and although the beds were full upon arrival, the time to get my own bed was completely reasonable.

The nurses, radiologist, and doctor were all very attentive. I heard the doctor explain the pathophysiology to all the patients in layman's terms so they could actually understand their condition and reasons behind treatments etc. The radiologist made the extra effort and provided warm blankets when carting me off to xray. The nurses made sure i was comfortable and that my crutches were appropriate for my height and that I knew how to use them.

I don't know that this would be where I'd want to be transported if i had life threatening trauma since it's an old facility and may not be the best equipped but hats off to them for great service with my injury.

I went here for follow up care. I was still hurting. I came here, the triage nurse was so kind. My nurse and doctor were outstanding. The radiologist was kind. I was in and out in less than 3 hours. Probably the best experience I've had with a hospital, in years. Thank you for the kindness and care.

Worst experience I've ever had at a hospital. Staff was unprofessional. Security is a joke. I get to parking lot at 7am told to wait to see a doctor then I ask to use the restroom and 30 mins go by and there's two doctors smoking cigarettes on my car. I open my door tell them to leave. The come covid test me at 11:50. Got results at 1:00. Then they tell me they never checked me in and they thought I left.

I called every 20 minutes trying to get me in. It wasn't until I went to the front door begging for help and then they sit me in the back and say oh your negative and here's your doctors note. Never coming here again, don't come here.

Devon has made my stay here easier to bare. His suggestions have really helped me. Hie has a wonderful attitude and disposition. Lots of energy and always ready to help. La Palma Hispital is lucky to have a nurse like Devon.

I am little taken back on the lack of compassion given by both doctors and nursing staff in the hospital. Recently my partner had to be taken into the ER. While the ER provided immediate care and he was advised that his condition required admission for treatment it is the care he is currently receiving that is unacceptable. My husband is deaf and I made it a point to inform them and have them let me know if that did not have an ASL interpreter I would assist.

Instead treatment was provided without any explanation and no interpreter was present nor was I notified. The test they are conducting call for no water or food for am undetermined amount of time. I have yet too speak to an actual doctor on his prognosis. I have gone two rounds with his nurse and if things do not improve will transfer to another hospital.

I understand the patient load in the time of COVID however care, treatment and compassion is still required for other patients. I am taken back on the professionalism and behavior of La Palma Medical Staff.b

I was visiting the area from another state and had an urgent medical issue. I was treated very well by everyone in the ER. I received great medical treatment. Having an urgent medical need is scary enough, but not being local and being by yourself compounds the fear. Thanks for the outstanding care and kindness!

I have been coming to this hospital for years. So without question I chose to come here to get treated for my symptoms. I have been sitting outside on a bench for over 2 hours. They've taken my vitals and did covid tests all while outside. I'm getting bit up like crazy by mosquitoes. I went inside to get an eta on how long it's going to be and the receptionist at the ER counter was EXTREMELY rude.

She told me I have no buisness being inside and need to continue to wait outside. Like I'm some dog. No one has answers about anything. No one knows an eta on how long this will be. Sick people should NOT have to wait outside for fear of covid. I am in shock this is actually happening right now.

I hate this place. Very unprofessional all the way around. I only came here because the ambulance said it was the closest. Between the doctor who said my monitor didn't go off. The nurse who made me leave without all of my belongings, to security saying I didn't call HIM, to the lady behind the "service" desk very rude to means others while I stood there. I could go on, but I won't. The only nice thing was the staff in the ER after that it all went downhill.

It was the best ER or hospital experience ever! Sunday I woke up and felt spinning around me and vomited all day and had a bad stomachache. I could not get there that night because I could not drive myself to there. Monday morning I arrived, they treated me with medicines right away and IV. Surprisingly I had a good resting there till I waited for other examinations including CT.

I felt very thankful to be able to treated like this for a person who has never had a medical insurance before. The doctors, nurses, interns were all kind, and a cleaning lady telling me to "feel better" was pretty impressive. Thank you all for taking care of me!

It's a mixed bag here. You'll get the great, the average and the questionable. But they won't kill you. You'll live and you'll be fed and you'll meet some great care talkers and care takers along the way. Give them credit though, is a tough job. BONUS: they have a cell phone charging station, so you don't have to wait without updates, check ins, or posts.
