At DWH, our goal is to partner with our patients in finding solutions to their gynecologic issues and concerns. We take the time to listen carefully and while providing education we offer suggestions and discuss options that are available. We provide well woman care and concentrate on preventative health and education, including nutrition counseling, screening for breast, cervical, ovarian, uterine, colon cancer and osteoporosis screening and prevention.Menopause can be a confusing time for many women.

Annual gynecologic exams (also called Well Women Exams) are recommended for all women annually starting at age 21. Upon arrival at Dover Women's Health, you would be greeted and checked in by our friendly front office staff. For your first visit, you are asked to arrive early, to allow time to fill out your health history form, using our state of the art touchscreen pad.

Most women who develop menorrhagia will experience heavy bleeding due to hormone imbalance seen commonly in the 35-50 age range. Fibroids and polyps (both of which are benign) can also cause menorrhagia. Treatment for menorrhagia includes medications such as birth control pills or other hormones. Surgical options are also available.

The uterus is held in position by pelvic muscles, ligaments and other tissues. If the uterus drops out of its normal position, this is called prolapse. Prolapse is defined as a body part falling or slipping out of position. Prolapse happens when the pelvic muscles and connective tissues weaken. The uterus can slip to the extent that it drops partially into the vagina and creates a noticeable lump or bulge. This is called incomplete prolapse. Complete prolapse occurs when the uterus slips to such a degree that some uterine tissue is outside the vagina.
