Compassion, trust and quality health services are integral parts of the care offered at UrologyAustin. and it's been that way since our doors opened in 1962. Our founding partners envisioned a urology practice where quality patient care blends seamlessly with progressive thought and action. It was the vision when the practice began and it remains the vision today.

Paid $40 for 5 minute vasectomy "consultation" with Dr Loren Jones. He rushed the general vasectomy statistics which I could look up online. I was so saturated with general information so quickly and so rushed I didn't feel comfortable asking questions. I wanted to ask more questions but felt like I was annoying him with his mannerisms, pointed responses and impersonal and cold gaze.
I don't expect doctors to be friendly but to be rushed out of a consultation made me nervous for him to cut my genitalia. Also no explanation about alternatives to classic vasectomy. I felt insulted leaving the office. I was hoping the handouts would clarify his awful consultation. They didn't. It was more generic then his consult. Canceling my vasectomy.

While this was my first visit to the Jollyville office, I am a long-time patient of Urology Austin. I saw Dr Hardeman for a procedure that required equipment at the Jollyville office. The office and medical staff were kind, friendly and professional, Dr. Hardeman is an excellent Urologist. He described the procedure, explained each step before he did it and told me what to expect at each phase. There were no surprises. He is also very personable, caring and I was comfortable throughout the procedure.

Everyone who worked with me was very personable/professional (particularly the one who assisted me in the room where the procedure was done.) I also appreciated how the Urologist clearly explained everything he was going to do and did. All made the experience less of an issue than I thought it was going to be.

My experience with Urology Austin was outstanding. My appointment was on time. Clerks/administrative personnel at the front desk and check out were very friendly and informative. It's been a while but I've been a patient with this clinic for several years and have always been treated with respect and the professional service was outstanding.

Dr. Kansas is knowledgeable but down to earth. He doesn't talk over you. I appreciate that in a doc. He is also very attentive to you while visiting, very quick response when you have a question about your care, and is timely on appointments. Office staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. Location is clean.

Awful administrative staff, they can't even get a referral properly processed and sent to another doctors office. After 2 months of weekly calls and waiting for a referral to be sent to another doctor I had to go to another clinic and go through the entire process again to get my referral. Dr. Hardeman failed me as a medical practitioner and does not do the work to find solutions to patients problems, instead he gives up and tells them they need to find help elsewhere (for a Urology issue that didn't even get the proper attention or investigation that it needed). Please feel free to contact me as I would love to speak to a manager, operator, or owner. This is an egregious violation of what proper medical care is supposed to be.

After I was scheduled for a blood draw at the Urology Austin office on Jollyville Road, I received several reminders of my appointment via text and email which helped me to remember the date and time. When I arrived, the office staff had all of the paperwork I needed to get started on the blood draw. Med Tech Angelica was prepared with all the tools needed to do her job.
She was professional, and inserted the needle with almost no pain. The entire visit went so smoothly and quickly that I was in the location less than 15 minutes. A great job by all of the staff. Highly recommend this office for visits to Urology Austin.

This review is specifically for the billing department. I was seen by Dr. Floyd in January and paid my usual copay. On a follow up in July, I come to find out somehow I'm no longer covered (even though my plan didn't change) but nobody in the reception informed me so (I had even asked if I was still covered because I know there's always issues and I like making sure).
And I was assured I was. Weeks later I get a bill and when I call to find out why I was charged for the full consultation the lady in the phone rudely said "Oh yeah you weren't covered and by the way you weren't supposed to since the first visit so we're going to inform your insurance to make sure you pay for that as well." No sympathy whatsoever, all these health companies just taking advantage of people during the pandemic.
I even replied and told her I wouldn't had made the visit had I known I wasn't covered, but since the first visit I only paid my copay I assumed that I was. She rudely replied "well that's not our problem." Horrible customer service for billing. Y'all should be ashamed for taking it on your patients, it's not like we have money to throw away on billing and miscommunication errors that are not our fault.

Incompetence on every level. Saw a Dr there w/an awful bedside manner and scheduled an appointment w/another Dr there. Turns out that this Dr doesn't work w/people who have my incontinence issues and neither does the only other Dr. That leaves me w/the douche bag. No thanks. Even the parking lot sucks.

Avoid Urology Austin if you value your time, your health and your money! You know there's something a little suspicious when they have you pay in advance for their services. Waited over an hour for my 3:15 appointment, which I arrived early for. The first 30 min. I waited in the main waiting area then another 30 min. in an exam room. By 4:15, still no doctor, no word, no nothing.
No one even came in to communicate with me what the situation was or why it was taking so long. Went into the hallway to 2nd nurses station and asked where my doctor was. She said, "Oh, he's with another patient but you'll be next." Waited another 10 min. Still no doctor, no communication. Went back into the hallway. It was a ghost town.
No one around. Promptly went to checkout desk and asked for a refund (which they provided). Admin there said, "Oh yeah, we had a procedure today. Sometimes you just have to expect things to change." You also know there's something suspicious when the staff immediately blame you instead of taking responsibility for their delay. Finally, you also know there's something suspicious when there's little to no communication when things DO change. I was a patient (very briefly) of Dr. John Williamson. Never again. Enter at your own risk. Better yet - just go somewhere else.

Don't trust their front office! Made an appointment weeks ago, filled out all my info on their patient portal, got my (Blue Cross) insurance okayed by them, then got a call an hour before my appointment saying that they had reconsidered, and now would not accept that insurance, and I would have to self-pay. An honest mistake on their part, perhaps, but it leaves me the choice of wasting a lot of money, or having wasted a lot of time before I get to see another doctor.

I was told I had a kidney stone that was very large and it was obstructing the urine flow from my kidney. I went to Dr. Floyd and he set me up for surgery. I was in pain and he took care of this by giving me pain medications(Tylenol 3 with codeine)While it did not take all the pain away it took the worst part away! I was loving him at that time! The surgery went fine and I had splints put inside me for a few days!
When I came back and got the stents taken out all hell broke loose! The pain was the worst I have ever felt in 25 years.felt like my kidney was torn apart and being ripped out of my body! I asked for the meds to be extended for a few days until I could get on top of the pain! and he said NO! No more pain meds! I am sitting here right now in the worse pain of my life and there is nobody to help me!
I don't know how long this pain will last and am scared it might have turned sepsis as I have had this in the past year! I guess if the pain is this bad by tonight I will go to the emergency room and see what they can do! I will never vouch for this doctor again! I will never go to this doctor again! Everyone needs to know about his practices!

I have only been here once following up on an ER visit for kidney stones. 4 stars because the office didn't tell me until 1 day before that I needed to get an x-ray prior to my office visit. I also had to ask twice for my new patient paperwork Dr. Williamson didn't keep me waiting too long for my appt, he was knowledgeable and explained all options for treatment. He was able to schedule me the next day for lithotripsy. That went well and I will have a final follow up later this month. If anything changes, I will let you know.

UPDATED. Dr. Bischoff is terrific -- FIVE STARS for him and his nurse -- but it seems like some support staff may need guidance on customer service. We've had two previous problems: with billing and with making appointments. The billing issue was resolved after a manager became involved. After my review on the appointment issue, a manager called to apologize.
She explained that the staff member we had dealt with for the appointment had also received complaints from other patients and that additional customer service training was in store for the entire staff. A practice with such great doctors deserves competent office staff, and it appears management is taking steps to ensure that happens.

While the staff and doctors are nice. Customer service is very disappointing. Two times in a row now I was told that prescriptions would be called in, and each time it took them over a week and a half to actually call the prescriptions in (and i had to call them to prompt that). I needed to go away for the weekend couldn't get my meds not good.
They called in a non generic prescription to my local pharmacy just before I had to catch a flight which would have been $400 verses about $50 this is a very disappointing repeating behavior on the part of the practice

Details are so tediously numerous I'm leaving much out: - December of this year it took two weeks and seven phone calls to renew a px I've taken daily for four years. incl. being told that the px had been phoned into the pharmacy. when it hadn't. and requiring me to go to Urology Austin's office desk in person to re-re-request the px renewal. after I had by then run out of the medicine.
Meanwhile my daughter is having emergency surgery in the hospital next door, and I'm dealing with pronounced after-effects of chemo treatment for an unrelated cancer. (The on-call Urology Austin doctor that I had last spoken with about getting the px renewed, by the way - which was then call 7 on day 14 of trying, for what should have been an utterly routine matter - berated me over the phone for "waiting so long.") - This summer I again needed a px renewal.
I had received messages from the pharmacy that they would process it. but then that they were awaiting the doctor's response. and then that the doctor had refused to renew, and that he was now requiring I come into his office. I'd run out of the med at this point, and only after voicing to the doctor how exceptionally unclear and frustrating the px procedures were, he informs me it could cost him a $500 fine to renew without seeing me first.
I tell him, that after four years, that's a first time I'd been so informed; and I try to suggest that there's got to be a more efficient procedure. He then tells me, again, that it would cost him a $500 fine to renew without seeing me first. I once more suggest that the process is unduly unpleasant and disorganized. And he then tells me, again, it would cost him a $500 fine. at which point I inform him, "We're done." I forego mentioning to him that I had had to take time away from funeral arrangements for my father, who had died the day before, to make this appointment with him, that I was sleep deprived and dealing with markedly unpleasant neurological effects from an epilepsy med, or that there were still other matters in my life in addition to those things that were more pressing than getting the urology prescription renewed. - When I subsequently mentioned to a staff member at Urology Austin my displeasure at how unnecessarily unpleasant the process had once more been, I was told that their Office Manager would want to know about my experience. Attempting to be constructive, I called in, twice, to provide my number to their Office Manager. I never heard back. I'll go elsewhere from now on.

I have never ever had a Doctor refuse me service and cancel my appointment. Well Dr. Pickett had his collection team call me no less than 5 times today over being short paid by my insurance company. which was his fault for not filling out paper work correctly for a visit in 2016! So now I must find another Doctor and wait again to be seen. All this over a 345.00 bill from 2016 this Doctor has canceled 3 appointments over this matter but has never admitted till today. Urology Austin has done nothing about having my personal data stolen, but I never got a call about that! nor did I receive a call about this unpaid bill until now.good think I am not dying. to top it off they reported this to the credit bureau's and damaged my credit score.

Going to a doctor is bad enough. Going to a urologist is even worse. Having all my personal data stolen on top is adding insult to injury. I never dreamed in a million years that our personal information was being stored in some insecure database. I got a letter stating that all my personal information was hacked from their system. I haven't gotten a single follow-up notice: is someone investigating the hack? Has my identity been stolen? Never again.

UNBELEIVABLE. How, in 2017, can Social Security Numbers be unencrypted? In a TECH TOWN like Austin?! I receive the letter. 2 months after the known breach. 2 months! It has an 800 number on it that says, "please call this number if you have questions". Then it is signed by Rob Lindahl. You would think that is the number for Austin Urology, but it is not.
It is the number for the theft protection service they have contacted, Kroll. Cowards. They don't even put their own number on the paper. Nowhere. So I Google Austin Urology for a phone number, press the buttons to get to billing, and state that I hope the IT person is fired. That this puts my life savings in jeopardy for rest of my life. She says she will transfer me to the CEO.
I get transferred, and the recording says, "this is not a valid mailbox. transferring to the operator" and then terminates the call. At that point, it's Yelp time. I used their services 6 years ago. SSN numbers are ONLY needed for insurance purposes. Why do they store them indefinitely? Why do they not encrypt these numbers in 2017, when not a week goes by before the news reports some company is hacked.
Why do they not delete the SSN when the services are over. The ONLY benefit of keeping it on line is to not have to ask you again when you return, if you ever return. That benefit is vastly outweighed by the downside risk. Just keep the last 4 numbers. Encrypt them. Holy smokes. They buy a year of protection. Really? They have put my life savings at risk for the remainder of my life and they buy 1 measly year of support.
That is about $100 or so at LifeLock. What idiots. There is no excuse. Bill Burr says it best. you talk to someone who says, "I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do" until you go crazy. Rant over. Mess remains. If you still care, the doctor I had was a decent guy. The waiting room is kinda dingy.

Horrible Receptionist named Denise I believe. Asked me about what insurance I have and as soon as I mentioned it was an Aetna plan from the Exchange she was rude. What kind of business are they running here? This place was a joke, taking my business elsewhere and if you are smart you would not bother with a place that does not welcome new patients.

Transcript from my recent call to set up an appointment: UA - "Urology Austin" Me - "Good morning, I'd like to schedule an appointment, my primary doctor referred me to Dr Northway" UA - "Do you have insurance through an employer?" Me - "I'm self employed, and I have good insurance, can I give you that information?" UA - "Is it that Obama thing? We're not accepting any new patients." Line went dead, never had the chance to say yes or no to the Obama remark. Doesn't matter how good a doctor is/isn't, that type of front office attitude is inexcusable.
