The Practice Manager is our team leader, responsible for overseeing all functions and activities of the practice. He supervises and coordinates all clinical and business aspects of our practice. Our receptionist serves as the Scheduling Coordinator. She is the first person our patients encounter when contacting our practice, both by telephone and in person.
We are very privileged to have become the very first Dallas office-based surgery facility accredited by the Joint Commission!. While there are several organizations that accredit surgical facilities, The Joint Commission is undeniably the gold standard. The Joint Commission is the nationally-recognized leader in hospital and ambulatory surgery center accreditation, and has recently begun accrediting office-based surgery (OBS) facilities.
Dental implants are changing the way people live! They are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth which look, feel, and function like natural teeth. The person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.
Over a period of time, the jaw bone associated with missing teeth atrophies or is resorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for placement of dental implants. In these situations, most patients are not candidates for placement of dental implants.

I highly recommend Texas Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery! We had a great experience. My son had his wisdom teeth extracted last Friday and we had his post-op appointment today. The staff was so friendly and welcoming! Dr Bates was wonderful in explaining everything so clearly to me and my son. He made my son feel comfortable with everything. He also called us after the surgery to check up on us. We were very pleased! Highly recommend!

Dr. James Bates is an exceptionally great Surgeon, professional and compassionate. Due to his expertise and experience he accurately diagnosed and explained our daughters problem with patience and answered all our questions. He described the necessary repair with easily understood words and diagrams. We are incredibly grateful to have Dr. Bates as her Surgeon and we are delighted that for the first time in seven years our daughters jaw no longer has issues!

I first went to see Dr. Bates with both sides of my TMJ fully dislocated as a result of a failed procedure from another surgeon in DFW, and since April 2018 I have had two surgeries with Dr. Bates to correct the displacement. I now have a silent and fully functioning jaw (with no visible scars)! Cannot recommend this surgeon highly enough.

I finally started the process of getting double jaw surgery 2 years ago. I am now 8 months post op. I can honestly say I was off to a rocky start w fighting insurance, going round and round w Rick (the office manager) and stressing over the out of pocket expense and thought of basically getting a new face. I looked into one other surgeon I might would trust in the area, only to find he didn't except insurance at all.
I finally realized that this surgery is just expensive and insurance sucks.which IS NOT Dr Bates fault. I don't feel like we hit it off right away but with each visit I started feeling better and better. Let me tell anyone who is considering this man for this surgery. LOOK NO FURTHER! I'm in tears of joy with my results. I was SO informed of what to expect.
Once I paid up front (~$25k out of pocket and insurance covered a whopping 15k after completely denying it first and Rick appealing it for me), I've had multiple visits and never been asked for another dime. In fact, once all of the claims hit, Rick actually refunded $900 without question. Dr Bates was the first face I saw in recovery. He came to my hospital room a couple of times (I only stayed 1 night) and he personally called me or my husband to check on me many times for the first couple of weeks.
This man CARES about his patients. He was worth every single penny and then some. To have the smile on the face I have now is priceless. My tmj related issues were instantly gone. No more headaches and tension. My confidence is through the roof. I've NEVER felt better inside and out. Dr Bates is a God send and this man KNOWS what he's doing. I can't say enough good about him and my experience. He improved my life 100% and it was well worth the money, stress, and hassle w insurance. It's a long and grueling process so if you need it, don't waste another day.

I am very happy with my results. Dr. Bates' attention to detail is impeccable. He was patient with all of my questions, which was awesome considering jaw surgery is a serious procedure. His staff is great, too. They are all so friendly. I was the third person in my family Dr. Bates has operated on (me in 2017, my dad and sister in the early 2000s). My dad and sister were also pleased with their results. Jaw surgery is a big deal and I felt at ease throughout the whole process. Highly recommend!

I've had one consultation with Dr. Bates and so far I've been very pleased. He seems very friendly and obviously has a great reputation. My only concern and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the newness of his insurance coordinator. When having a serious surgery and dealing with insurance companies I would feel more reassured if the person had a lot of experience in this office. She seemed like a very sweet person though :. And the front receptionist was very accommodating.
