I live in Vancouver but have been seen by doctors at Broadway Medical Clinic for 30 years. Until recently I have been extremely happy with the facility, the reception staff, nurses and doctors. But what has happened to a clinic that used to be 5 star? Trying to get through to speak with a live person is nearly impossible. Getting a call back in a reasonable length of time is, again, nearly impossible.
It seems this has all happened since Covid began. Is it staffing shortage? I have been patient, knowing how very difficult the last couple years have been for medical personnel. However, how does a clinic expect to retain patients when customer service is so very poor? I am so disappointed in this clinic that has been physically updated on the outside but is so lacking internally.

We love our children's pediatrician, but we feel the opposite about our own care at this clinic. My husband tested positive for COVID. To receive free antiviral medication through the Test to Treat program, he needs a doctor's prescription. He called his PCP, Dr. Bley, who was out. He was put in touch with the covering physician who denied his request because he hasn't been into the office in 2 years. DURING A PANDEMIC.
He's being penalized for being healthy and not needing to be seen. The free antiviral is part of the national Test to Treat program. Drugstores offer the medication for free, but you need to have a prescription from a clinic or your doctor. The response from BMC is beyond maddening. They truly don't care for their patients.

I have been going to this clinic for over 27 years now, but that changed for good today. NEVER have I ever been treated as poorly as I have been by Dr. Bley. This wasn't just a one-time occurrence; I have given him over 3 years worth of chances and I am beyond disappointed every single time. He is the most condescending, disrespectful doctor I have ever had the displeasure of seeing, and I've seen a LOT of doctors.
It's to the point where I cry after every appointment because he treats me so poorly. Any time I asked a question, it was met with a scoff, sarcastic eye roll and/or occasional huff. The entire time I was in the room with him, he kept getting up and trying to walk out of the room, even when I was still asking questions! He was so impatient and just wanted to get me out of there. Dr. Bley has ZERO bedside manner.
He has no sympathy for what you're going through. I have chronic illnesses and chronic pain and he doesn't seem to care AT ALL, and doesn't listen to my concerns, even though that's the whole reason you go to the doctor. He belittles his patients and talks down to you the whole time, makes you feel stupid. He won't take your concerns into consideration, he'll make you feel like a burden for bringing up additional health issues.
He says every time "you need to make separate appointments for each concern because I don't have time for this", even if you're there for your annual exam where you're SUPPOSED to bring up your concerns. Your health doesn't matter to him; your money does. If you're there for a cold, god forbid you ask a health question not related to that. My mother also has the same experience every time she sees him. Needless to say, we are ending our 30+ year relationship with Broadway Medical Clinic today, because the lack of respect we have received from this medical "professional" is absolutely disgusting and will not be tolerated. I do want to add that the nurses, lab techs and front desk staff are AMAZING, but unfortunately they're not really who you're there to see.

If you're looking for a healthcare provider that will talk unprofessionally and demeaning to you, mess up your prescriptions, and send you on a wild goose chase to fix their bungled insurance claims - every single time - then this is the place for you. Their receptionists have the worst customer service I've had from a medical provider, and that's saying something considering I went to military doctors for almost half my life.

Unprofessional. ((ZERO)) Customer Care. Careless in regards to patients. VIOLATED HIPAA LAWS. Disclosed my personal medical information. I have NEVER experienced such low grade unprofessional medical care. I was told by "Candy C." Administrator (who oversees - entire clinic and should be fired) that they are overworked, exhausted and not very organized right now, they have little time for patient needs.
Such as filling an Rx that was supposed to be filled two weeks ago. She then lied and stated it was called in last week. And to call the pharmacy and figure it out with them (It was not) She chuckled an said to be patient and keep waiting for a jingle (but, would not be from her; as she again doesn't have time) then hung up on me. I don't find a lack of medical care to be funny.
I do find waiting for an RX for over two weeks to be possibly deadly. I do find needing an emergency scan to see if I have Cancer to be an emergency. BEWARE of the Broadway Medical Clinic. I will be canceling all relationships at this clinic. As patients are NOT #1 concern. In addition - Nurse "Anne B." (should be fired) she used offensive, demeaning, degrading (non medical) inappropriate terminology purposely and intentionally to hurt me.
With others present. While yelling loudly at me regarding my personal medical chart. Not allowing me to speak. Anne then laughed and hung up on me. RN "Anne B." became upset that I was asking her questions. She asks the questions. They don't have time for questions. Schedule an actual appointment if you have questions. I guess that is the way things are handled at this clinic.
They just hang up. Don't let the remodel fool you. You are just a number. Not a human. Your privacy is nor a concern or a care. The emotional impact, distress, lack of professionalism, poor bedside manner is so beyond fathomable that my son will no-longer be able to continue with his pediatrician "Dr Mazzata". My son now suffers purely do to these employees NOT doing their jobs.
This clinic is owner by it's Dr's. They are the board whom determines everything that has to do with their clinic. Including the final resolution of: "Candy C. - Clinic Administrator" "Anne B. - RN" "Heather A. - Head Nurse Manager" "Emma W. - Director of Business Service's" "Debbie W. - HR" (notice these names are all women) This saddens me even greater as women should build and empower. Never prey on the weak. That is exactly what they did. Break not Build.

Dr. DeSimone is the best! Dr. DeSimone has been my children's pediatrician for the past 18 years - since their births. She is very knowledgeable and has a friendly, even-keeled demeanor. I feel 100% confident in Dr. DeSimone's advice and decisions in her practice. She treats my kids like intelligent people capable of understanding what is happening with their health.
Her nurses are also incredibly kind and friendly. She has referred the kids to specialists as needed (dermatology, etc.), and stays apprised of what that treatment is like. I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. DeSimone, and am truly bummed that one of my kids has now aged out of having her as their pediatrician.

This is an update of this review. Since bringing up my complaint with Dr Bley's office and nursing staff, everything has been resolved with the best of results. I haven't had an issue with refilling my medications in months. His personal nursing staff apologized and let me know they understood my frustration. They are nothing like the person who answered my phone call that day.
I forgot I left this review and felt it was important I follow up and change my rating. The office is fine, my doctor (Bley) was wonderful. But the refill process for medications is truly awful. My first and only times to get refill never went through. After I tried through calling, going in and leaving a message with the front desk, and even using the portal to leave messages.
If you need timely refills without any delay or skipping doses this is not the place for anybody. I'm so disappointed in the nursing staff for dropping the ball, not once but every time I needed a refill. There is absolutely no care about the mess up either. And no one else in the practice will call it in either, unlike Kaiser, Providence, or Legacy. Worst experience in years.

The primary care doctor I saw did a good job, however the billing practices of Broadway Medical are incredibly unethical and shady. I've never encountered such blatant overcharging from a medical provider. It was truly shocking. will never again be a patient here and wish I never was in the first place. Very much recommend avoiding this clinic.

I've been going to Broadway Medical Clinic over 25 years, 3 house changes and 3 doctors (now on Dr Hirsch). I've had consistently good care including the time Dr Renouard noticed an EKG problem and I got a stent implant. The doctors listen and with technology updates, all my history is on a laptop with ready access to lab results, prior surgeries, . prescribed medications and notes.
They are also expanding their building to take care of their patients. And they have virtual appointments and protective equipment in this age of Coronavirus. Be well and be safe.

Can't get prescriptions to the right pharmacy. No sense of urgency for tests that need to be done. My dogs vet does a better job than these people! Don't bother calling you'll spend all day on hold. Then if someone does answer the phone they can't help you. This place has really gone downhill over the years!

I want to take a moment to say thank you to Rick (and I am so sorry if I got your name wrong- worried mom brain was in effect). He worked with Dr Mazzotta today and helped my very anxious daughter get her flu shot. Not only did he climb into the play structure to talk to her, his empathy and kindness got her out with a smile on her face. He then. was super patient and took the time to talk with her in the waiting room about strategies to make the experience better.
He played with us in the exam room while we waited for the vaccine to arrive, and when things got tough, he -and the staff member that provided the shot-remained compassionate and calm. She left feeling much better about the experience. Thank you all so much.

I'm unsure how to deal with this problem. I took my son into the doctor on Thursday. The doctor agreed to call in 2 prescriptions. Since this was his first prescription I confirmed the pharmacy address. When my husband got to the pharmacy that evening to pick up the it was called into the wrong pharmacy. Hey mistakes happen, but it took him an hour. to get the one prescription.
So the next day I called, waited the standard 10-15 minutes on hold to speak to anyone in this operation, confirmed the correct pharmacy and the missed prescription, They assured me no problem, they would take care of it today. Again last evening my husband found the prescription wasn't called in. I called the on call.

I have been going to Broadway medical clinic for over 25 years. I love them. There is a family experience there. They are very good at getting me in same day, calling me back and calling about test results. I feel taken care of there. Btw I rarely make comments on businesses but I love them so much, I wanted others to know.

Dr. Lewis Vals is my physician and I must say he is an excellent internist his knowledge is quite impressive. I feel comfortable and secure as having him as my primary care physician. I personally have. worked in the medical field for over 40 years in ICU ER as a respiratory care practitioner. So I know what I'm talking about when I say this physician is excellent and the staff is really great too. And I feel comfortable recommending him to my family and friends.

It is getting harder and harder to find a good doctor and a good doctor's office these days. Broadway Medical Clinic really stands out: the staff is exceptionally professional, helpful and friendly while still. remaining respectful (i.e., not so chummy as to make one feel patronized). The lab techs are professional, very good at their job --that is one expert and nearly painless blood draw they offer!
And I can't say enough about how much I appreciate my own doctor, Janis Howatt, and her nurses and team. I'm confident that the other doctors in the group are similarly excellent, since the atmosphere in the waiting room is positive. Highly recommended. And BMC - keep up the good work! It matters a lot!
