Dr. Walters is simply the best. He did my cataract surgery in 2016. It was painless, so easy they anticipate & take care of everything all you have to do is relax &:follow their simple pre & post op instructions. I was not a good candidate for the premium multi-focal IOLs available at the time so he recommended mono focal lenses with the dominant eye optimized for distance, the other eye optimized for mid-range & prescription readers for optimal near vision.

The surgeries were done on Tuesday & Thursday, I was back at work on Monday. My vision was better than 20/30, not quite 20/20 but as bright & clear as when I was a child. Absolutely miraculous! In 2020 I noticed my vision was becoming less clear & when I finally got to my opthalmologist in 2022 he told me the capsule in my right eye was cloudy & sent my back to Dr. Walters for a YAG Capsulotomy. Dr Walters examined my eyes & found that the capsules were cloudy in both eyes & performed a YAG Capsulotomy on both eyes at that same visit.

Again painless & so easy just sit still, look where he tells you &.et voila the miracle continues! My vision is once again as clear & bright as when I was a child. Today I have 20/20 distance, slightly better than after my initial cataract surgery, and perfect reading at a distance of 16-18". I do have prescription readers but rarely use them, only for comfort when doing close work for more than a couple hours.

I also have prescription glasses with transition sport lenses that correct both eyes to slightly better than 20/20 for outdoor sports & driving, to enhance depth perception, but I do not really need them to drive. When driving at night I do not see significant glare or halos from headlights. After my cataract surgery It took about two months for my brain to fully adjust to the different focal length in each eye & during that time I had to resist the urge to close my dominant eye when reading.

Ultimately I have excellent vision at all but the closest distance, small print is too blurry to read easily at a distance of 10". I am just as independent of glasses as my friends with premium lenses and my night vision seems to be slightly better. The only difference is I have to use prescription readers & they can use off the shelf readers but none of us are dependent on them.

So if you find you are not a candidate for premium IOLs do not be sad, excellent vision can still be achieved with mono focal IOLs in the skilled hands of the right Doctor. Dr. Walters handled my case perfectly.

Getting a prescription sent to costco has been a long ordeal with still no resolution, over a week and counting.

Both my wife and I had lens replacement surgery in late March 2022 and early April. My experience was first rate. The pre op nurse, Ann was excellent, the anesthesiologist was awesome and helped with the neck strain I have so I was comfortable. This was a 4 day procedure. Left eye post op right eye post op again. All had minimal waits and and were well explained.

Most importantly Dr. WALTERS is s awesome and the surgery was flawless. After 25 years of increasing strength glasses I can see all distances with no problems. As was explained I do see halos around headlights at nice but that is a minor issue. I wouldn't go anywhere else @

Jeffrey R. Lane had my son's eyes dilated PRIOR to doing his vision test. Then, while answering all of the questions "1 or 2? 3 or 4?" his vision was distorted due to the dilation. As a result, the Rx for his glasses was way off. My son, never having had his eyes dilated before did not think this was right, but didn't question it - had glasses filled elsewhere, and now cannot see from this bad prescription.

When we went back to ask for a new exam, Dr. Lane became snippy with him and told him it was basically right. (THEN WHY CAN'T HE SEE? Isn't that the main point of getting a new Rx?) The practice may be okay, but this man needs to learn to admit to mistakes - we all make them. But now my son does not want to step foot in there again, so we are having to pay for an entirely new exam elsewhere. Shame on you "Dr." Lane!

The Doctor was wonderful, the appointment setting department needs some serious work. They never called me back, it's been 17 days since I left a message! Will not be returning, they've lost my business.

I had very high myopia and when I was looking for a cataract surgeon, I was concerned about the doctor taking enough time to get the measurements right so I would have the best vision after the surgery. I met with Dr. Walters and am very glad I did. He spent time with me discussing mono-vision asking about where I needed to focus for work and activities.

He took the time to explain different lens designs and why he selected the ones for me. The surgery was just as described and I was amazed at how well I saw immediately after the operation. The mono-vision works perfectly. I can simply see near and far perfectly. I have 20-15 vision without correction for reading and distance. This is literally the first time I have seen without glasses or contacts my entire life. Definitely a 5 star review. I strongly recommend Dr. Walters and Texan Eye for cataract surgery.

Enjoyed my experience with them. Everyone super nice. I'll just add a note that if you need glaucoma testing be very clear about it. I thought I could get it done along with my annual check up but had to schedule that aside and come back. Going back to get new glasses there!

I am a patient of both Dr. Walters (Opthalmologist) and Dr. Loose, a retina specialist at Texan Eye. It was only a few weeks until my yearly checkup, but I felt pressure and weepiness in my left eye--the same one that had a previous hole in the retina that Dr. Loose expertly repaired. One day before a cruise with my grands, the KIND, WELCOMING STAFF got me in, the SWEET, PATIENT ASSISTANT was efficient, kind, and friendly, and Dr. Walters was everything you want in your doctor! He's the best!

This entire office is wonderful. And I will add that ANOTHER OFFICE IN AUSTIN THAT I USED TO GO TO denied me an appointment 8 years ago when I had the hole in my retina.that could have led to blindness in one eye! Texan Eye came to my rescue TWICE! I (=two healthy eyes. I had PINK EYE that Dr. Walters diagnosed!) this place.both locations but the north one is my favorite. THANK YOU to all!

They didn't measure my PUPILLARY distance while I was there at my appointment and they said I would have to come back to do that. I can't go back because I don't have the time I was going to order glasses online because I don't have to the time to go to a store now I have to go back or go somewhere else to get the measurement.

They Might as well have a drive thru window for the crappy fast-food service style they are implimenting. appointment lasted about an hour. MA/tech performed 98% of the exam includig dilation and vision screen. Eye doc comes in for about 2 minutes total and then was on her way with very little conversation.

The receptionist staff are not friendly. The nurses are good, thus the star. Dr. Walters did my cataract surgery, but I still have problems seeing and had several follow up exams to no avail. I ended up having to get a prescription for reading glasses. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend their services. Buyer beware.

My grandmothers appointment was at 2:45. They called us back at 3:30. Didn't even apologize for the wait time. The older man tech Rich was also very inpatient.

Worst experience at an eye doctor ever. Everyone was very rude. I had to wait an hour to see the doctor and when I did Dr. Lane turned out to be a rude, terse, neurrotic, and disheveled mess.

Like others who've posted reviews, our first (and last) visit to Texan Eye was highly-disappointing. After being referred by our pediatrician, we were told the appointment for our toddler would be 2 hours long so we planned for this lengthy appointment accordingly, got out of work early to pick him up from school early, etc. When we arrived, we waited over an hour before we figured out that the customer service was not a priority for this organization--not at all.

They did not care that we were sitting there waiting over an hour for our child to be seen for what would still be another 2-hours for the actual appointment. Sadly, we had to leave. Fortunately, we found another ophthalmologist in Austin that specializes in children and we are so glad that we found them. This other doctor's customer service was top-notch from the very first call. Btw, Texan Eye never even called to attempt to reschedule our appointment. It's as if they didn't even notice us at all. It is clear that Texan Eye does not value customer service and fortunately, there are other, better choices in this city, especially for kids.

I had cataract surgery at this place in August 2015. (two visits, one per eye) I had the best of care and would give this place five stars.

I've been a customer under their care for years. Contact lens, glasses, LASIK and routine eye issues. They are a 10. Patient, thoughtful, careful and state of the art care. I've sent many of my friends, family members and co workers to them as referrals, all with outstanding experiences. I take all my medical care seriously and will return to them in "blink of an eye" if I have any need.

Ran low on my RX for glaucoma and had trouble refilling it at pharmacy. Stopped in and Stephanie took great care of me. She got everything in order and saw to it that I had plenty of medicine to get me through until I can get my regular RX filled. This was about noon on 11/25/14. This kind of care is rare and much appreciated. Job well done. Thanks.

First time calling to set an appointment and appointment setters do not care about you and if you pay or not. If this type of customer service I will be getting i will not go. The way she spoke to me, I could tell right away that she didn't even care a bit about my needs. I told her to cancel the appointment, and she just hung up. I will be calling somewhere else, and also tell my family and friends not to call.

First off let me say that the medical part of my experience with this doctor was A+. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and I can see great! My complaint is with their business practices. - If you don't have the first appointment of the day, plan on waiting. My first appt I had to wait nearly an hour before I got to go back. I know they want to make a lot of money and docs think they're time is more valuable than us mere mortals, but this is disrespecful.

If I ran my business this way I'd be bankrupt. But few doctor's offices really care about the customer's experience. My big beef is the way they handle billing. I was given an amount I owed and asked if that was everything. I was told yes and paid it. I paid extra ($2000) to get the super special lenses that will fix my vision permanently.

Then I get a bill for another $137. Just an amount, no detail. I call to find out what gives and there's a recording that says you can only talk to them on Mon, Wed, and Fri between 1 and 5 pm. And "Thank you for allowing us to better serve you." Click. No opportunity to even leave a message. How, exactly, does that serve me better? I call the next day and ask for a detailed invoice.

When that arrives I find they've billed my insurance for the surgery (for a regular lens) and the $137 is what's left over. But they billed me for the surgery for the special lense. They only performed one surgery on each eye, yet charged for two. I refused to pay this and was told that would be fine and they'll just turn it over to the colleciton agency.

I asked why they thought the could double bill for the surgery and was told "that's how we do it" and it's "our policy". Sounds like insurance fraud to me. So, I'm writing a check, but I'm so angry I'm also writing this review!
