Oregon Sleep Associates is an AASM accredited Sleep Center founded in 2005 by Daniel Root, MD. Our mission is to provide high quality Sleep Medicine Services to the Greater Portland Area. We pride ourselves in offering a comprehensive sleep evaluation: we diagnose and treat the full spectrum of sleep disorders, ranging from narcolepsy to obstructive sleep apnea.
Dr. Root has been practicing medicine in Portland since his residency at OHSU in 1991. He is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine, and founded Oregon Sleep Associates (OSA) in 2005 in order to bring a more patient oriented approach to Sleep Medicine in Portland. In recognition of the success of OSA, he was awarded as one of Portland Monthly Magazine's Top Doctors in Sleep Medicine for 2013.
There are four primary sleep testing options depending on your specific symptoms and suspected sleep disorder. An at-home sleep test (HST) is a wearable device with three sensors to monitor breathing during sleep. This test is an easy-to-use option for detecting various forms of sleep apnea. The ability to sleep in your own bed makes HSTs a popular option.
We take pride in offering quality durable medical equipment (DME) services to our patients. Our DME products include auto CPAPs, travel CPAPs, BIPAPs, auto-servo ventilation (ASV) devices, and a variety of mask options. Our experienced staff know that transitioning to CPAP is not always easy. There are often adjustments and challenges that require equipment and pressure changes when acclimating to therapy.
Before a sleep study can be ordered, you must first have a consultation with one of our sleep specialists. During the consultation the doctor will review your sleep concerns, symptoms, and past medical history. Based upon this analysis, the doctor will decide if a sleep study is necessary for diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Gangal is fantastic. She's extremely knowledgeable, kind, caring, a great listener and I always got the sense that she truly wanted to help in whatever way she could. Not only was Dr. Gangal a pleasure to work with, but so was the entire team at Oregon Sleep Associates. Everyone I spoke with was friendly, warm, and courteous. Thank you for such a positive experience; I really appreciate it!

Dr. Root and all the staff really listen, professional, compassionate and very thorough in studies and follow up. I'm so grateful to have found this practice. I had several issues going on, but being taken "off the merry go round" of problems with sleep resolution put me on the path to resolving other issues. They always make me feel that they care!

Dr. Gongle and Jason are amazing to work with! Very knowledgable, friendly, and caring. I couldn't ask for a better team to help me with my sleep issues. I am so very grateful! Their support has given me my life back, so I am no longer walking around in a daze, waking up confused and shaky in the morning, or falling asleep during the middle of my day at the drop of a hat. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I have seen a few providers here over the past few years and they have all been very helpful and encouraging. They've taught me a lot about sleep and helped me address my sleep issues. Back in the day, I had office visits and now they've transitioned to video appointments very effectively (and that does save me a long trip downtown). My current provider, Katherine, is very enthusiastic and I greatly appreciate the spirit she brings to our visits.
