I was sent to the Hospital at Westlake for emergency surgery. I was treated with respect and caring from registration thru to checkout. I never felt anxious about the surgery and the care was first rate. The staff were knowledgeable and caring, easy to talk to and were all happy to answer questions and just to talk if I needed to. I thank the good Lord for people and places like the Hospital at Westlake.

My son just spent 5 days in The Hospital at West Lake Medical Center. Everyone, I mean everyone went out of their way to make his stay as comfortable as possible. Our hospitalist, Dr. Shawn Laney provided excellent care and did so with a great bedside manner. All of our nurses, Ashley, Magen, Johnny, Tyrone, Tara, Caroline, Curtis, Claudia and Maria were amazing. Genuinely caring people.
The facility was beautiful, comfortable and felt more like a hotel than a hospital. The meals, which you order from a menu were delicious. Housekeeping kept the room so clean and were so nice. If you have the opportunity to select a hospital we highly recommend The Hospital at West Lake Medical Center.

I would have given this hospital 4 stars but after I experience what I did when I was there in March 7 and spend 5 days in this hospital wasn't cool. This big black guy I guess he was the nurse assistant say some rude things and man handle me after I had a big surge. Then he said some inappropriate thing to me that I won't write here but he should be fired.

Great people to work for! The CNO and directors are very approachable and easily accessible. High accountability though, if you aren't productive, it is very obvious bc it's a small place. *this review was written under the previous admin team* Changing the stars based on my own experiences since voluntarily resigning 4 months ago.

My sister DIED! Due to the lack of care and lack of trying to find out what was wrong with her. The nurse said that" there is no reason for her to be breathing like this she has 100% oxygen, ( but she had high CO2) I'm going to chalk it up to withdrawal and dramatics." These are the words out of the health care providers mouth. Dramatics! My sister Died from a staff infection that if it has been caught.
And she could have been saved, SHE COULD BE ALIVE IF THEY HAD TRYED!. But they sent her on her way. With out antibiotics from the pneumonia she was currently suffering from. Nothing, no inhaler, nothingggg! don't send your loved ones here unless you don't care about them!

I just spent 5 intense days in this wonderful facility for removal of a massive gallbladder. It was quite an ordeal and I'm not gonna pretend I remember every moment perfectly because I was being given IV pain. medication. First of all. Donna, my ER nurse was amazing. She is so easy to talk to, personable, knowledgeable. and she can sure hit a vein!
They once called her up to my hospital room to insert a new IV and I was thrilled to see her again! I've had previous experience with Donna and she's always wonderful. I had two doctors. My surgeon, Dr. Alex Santos, is amazing doctor! Performed a very difficult removal of a gallbladder the size of a baseball. Very attentive. The on-site.

I have had 3 procedures at WMC and each time they have consistently been friendly, professional, and caring. Prior to each procedure I received phone calls/messages explaining procedures and insuring I am aware of each process and answering any questions I may have had. I trust these professionals with my life and those of my family.

After a traumatic accident; i ended up in the ER at Westlake Hospital. The staff, nurses and physicians were extremely quick to respond and not only offered me excellent medical care, but also a calming, comfort which eased my anxiety about my injury. They also called me the next day to check on me and make sure I was being taken care of by the. center they referred me to.
I would like to recognized the entire staff, but particularly Donna and Dr. Rodriguez for going above and beyond to treat me with amazing skill and great compassion. My outcomes are good because of the quick attention to gave me on that dreadful Sunday morning. Thank you!

Hospital was ok. Kind of warn down. Neat style. Fun staff but seemed short staffed. They don't clean their patients often enough: bedding, peeva pads, sponge baths, etc. Warn down equipment kept braking or needed adjusting at times, knowledge level of staff and most doctors seemed average save 1,w ho was in charge, I believe. Would recommend for a minor procedure only. Doesn't seem well enough equipped for anything more.

I accompanied a friend to a procedure in early April. The preparation for the procedure was efficient. I waited in the waiting room. The staff showed me where to get food, and all staff made eye contact and asked me if I needed anything while I waited. When the procedure was over, I went back to the recovery room. He was recovering a bit slowly. The nurse taking care of him was excellent and provided very personal care.

I'll be perfectly honest I had reservations about this facility. I had looked at the reviews and not all were good. However, my experience was great. The nursing staff was awesome with the exception of the first night. That's only because the evening nurse acted as if it was hard to do her job while answering questions. But to my surprise I was treated respectful and I felt there was genuine care about myself as the patient.
I would like to thank the entire medical team especially the nurses on the 3rd floor for dealing with me after my spinal fusion surgery. I cannot leave out the cafeteria staff either because the food was awesome! That's saying a lot for hospital food. Thanks again to the nurses on the 3rd floor all shifts!

Excellent Hospital, except one bad apple. I went for spinal fusion. Arrived early was brought back and set up for surgery. All good. Surgery went great! I will try and remember all of the awesome nurses, staff, etc; The Great; Jessica was awesome. Very attentive, pleasant, helpful and friendly. Raquelle (spelling wrong possibly- very awesome. service and delivery of food), Dennis (Physical Therapist) was very knowledgeable, listened, actually helpful. Dr. Dryer and Dr. Stewart were amazing as well as the other Doctor, cannot remember her name. The Good- Michelle was a helpful nurse most of the time. She seemed to have something bothering her, but still a good nurse. The Very Poor- Holly.

Over a couple years I've had four spinal surgeries here, two were in-patient and the other two were out-patient. Everybody I came in contact with was concerned about me and wanted me to get through the surgeries with as little discomfort as possible. I didn't experience any problems with anything from pre-op testing, check-in, surgery, & recovery, to settling into my room.
At one point I was in a lot of pain but they worked tirelessly to finally get me comfortable so I could rest. I think this is an excellent facility and highly recommend it. If I ever have to have surgery again I hope my doctor has privileges here.

Do not. I repeat do NOT waist your time and money visiting The Hospital at Westlake Medical Center. I have been balance billed NINE times for thousands of dollars by their facility. The hospital was in network but apparently the dr that came to my bedside was NOT. Insurance says I owe $0 - they say the balances are my responsibility since their dr. wasn't in network.
They won't hold to talk to insurance. Insurance won't hold to talk to them because "it's peak season". If you don't pay they put you into collections. Ridiculous. Do not. I went here after hours with an elevated heartbeat. It turned out to be nothing and no treatment was required. But to find that out cost me nearly $3,000 between the hospital and the physician bills. Most of that wasn't covered by Blue Cross. I asked what the cost for each service was, and they said "it depends on your insurance". The doctor also tried to convince me to do a cat scan on my heart which was completely unnecessary and would have added several thousand dollars to an already ridiculous bill. Clearly the physician is encouraged to order expensive tests. I definitely won't ever go here again. I'll go to a real hospital with real ER doctors.

Every experience in life is what you make it. The staff were overly accommodating, professional, courteous-awesome. For someone who has traveled the world and had multiple surgeries, this place was the Taj Mahal. Dr. Slaughter, Our Beautiful Blonde Funny Friendly Admittance Nurse, Amanda, Shar(sp), Dr. Paul and sweet Chris - your are the most wonderful people on the planet. Thank you for taking such great care of me today.

From someone who doesn't like to use social media to slam a place, I believe wholeheartedly in this case it is well warranted. I came to the ER for dizziness as per the recommendation of Victory Medical, and was convinced not only to take one but actually 2 CAT scans (the second with dye to make sure there wasn't something hidden they missed the first time).
This 30-45 min visit ended up costing $6,750 but more than this, they decided not to negotiate with my insurance company who offered to pay $5,000. After 4 months they finally came to a settlement and left me with 4 various bills (3 of which were nonsense, like equipment rental fees) and an additional $1,400. Equally surprising was trying to work with the folksy staff who barely understand how to use their computers.
I could go on and on but this type of hospital is what's wrong with our healthcare in the US. I might be singing a different story if I needed life saving treatment but the hospital staff when questioned on cost informed us that they had to overcharge because most people don't pay. No wonder

I had surgery for hammer toes by Dr. Andrew Ebert on March 10, 2016. All seemed to go well and I went home that evening. A few days later I started having fever and chills and the doctor precribed oral antibiotics. Ten days after the surgery my left lower leg and foot was so badly infected that I went to the ER at St. David's hospital and was admitted.
I wound up being seen by an infectious disease specialist and getting IV vancomycin twice daily. I spent five days in the hospital plus I received two IV infusions of dalbavancin to kill the bug. I believe I picked up an MRSA due to poor hospital sterilization practices. Needless to say, I will never darken the door of Westlake Medical Center again.

Was a bit difficult to locate due to the size and maze of the complex but once inside the difference between a public hospital and a private center is as different as night and day. The center has a nice hotel like lobby with fancy fish tanks, small cafe and views of the outdoor coy fish ponds. My wait time was minimal and the operation itself was a flash. everyone was very nice and attentive, i felt at total ease and i tip my hat to the anesthesiologist for the lovely cocktail. not that id ever want to come back but if i did need to, this place would be at the top of the list. Bonus points for the free Wifi, complimentary socks and cable TV.

I feel compelled to share my recent experience with the Emergency Room at Westlake Medical Center (WMC). I was referred to the WMC by my physician with an unknown illness resulting in dehydration and severe weakness. I was met by a tech (David) he was incredible and understanding how sick I was. However he was followed up by Dr. Laurie Dawson, the most inept and uncaring physician I have ever met.
To make a long story short my physician referred me to be admitted. He actually called Dr. Dawson while I was in the ER. However Dr. Dawson said to me " I do not have anything for you, you should go home." She did give me a barf bag for the car ride home. With in a couple of days I went to Seton Main ER, where I was admitted from the ER and immediately started in 30 hours of IV Potassium and fluid for dehydration and extremely low potassium levels.
I spent 3 days in Seton before I was stable enough to continue out patient treatment. In closing, Westlake Medical Hospital is not capable of managing truly ill patients, at least not under Dr. Dawson's care.

I received emergency care for a burned finger. The burn was 2nd degree and I was given advil, Silverdin was put on the finger and then it was wrapped in gauze. No problem with that but I was charged almost 900 dollars for this glorified bandaid. It is no wonder that our country is in trouble with health care costs. That is so unfair when you don't have insurance and you are willing to pay a "fair " price for the service.
I was told that it was an acceptable price for my "service". If this is their idea of what is fair then it is no wonder the state of the health care in the nation. And no wonder that the hospital is having financial problems. It is a shame that people are treated this way at cost of the almighty dollar and profits. Shame on Westlake hospital. Ceil E.

Here's my advice to anyone suffering unexplained chest pain. Get thee to an ER. Yes it may turn out to be nothing serious (as mine was) but why take the chance it is serious? When I found myself at work with sudden chest pain radiating to my jaw, I knew I needed to be checked out. Luckily this place is right across the street from where I work.
From the moment I walked in to 3.5 hours later when I walked out the staff was amazing. Everyone was geniunely concerned with my symptoms. From the nurses, to the registartion, to Dr. Dupont, all were calming in their approach and made sure I felt I did the right thing by going in. The ER is not very busy as I am sure a lot of people (including my coworkers) did not even realize the ER is there.
The equipment is state of the art and everything was completely quickly and efficiently. I hope I don't need to go to the ER again, but I'm happy to know a great one is across the street.

I just had my hip replaced and the staff here made it a great experience. The rooms are nicer than most hotels I have stayed at around the globe and the food is amazing. I know it is all about the care, which is personalized and very much professional. This whole experience could have been cold and heartless, but Westlake Medical Center has made it complete the opposite. If you have to have surgery, I highly recommend!

I went in for a pre-op; chest x-ray, EKG and blood work. The wait was nonexistent. It was a little weird that i needed to be admitted to the hospital to be there for 30mins. But whatever they need. The nurses and other staff were very friendly and were willing to give me explanations and a tour, since I'm having my first ever surgery there next week.
They gave me a tour of an empty room and answered all my questions. I though them to be very helpful and available. Again - in and out within 30mins of my appointment and that was with a tour. The Hospital rooms look really nice and i was told there is one nurse to every two patients. This is definitely not your normal hospital but looks well prepared. Fingers crossed the surgical experience is as relaxed and encouraging.

Growing up in a medical family, you learn quite a bit based off of proximity. However, the staff at this "hospital" seems to have missed the most basic rules and regulations. My girlfriend had a ruptured ACL and had her surgery performed here. Big mistake. The very next day, she was transported via ambulance to the ER due to complications from the surgery.
While recovering in a room, the manager of the physical therapy department came by to move her knee. I have never seen such a lack of compassion from someone that is in the field to provide support. Do yourself, your wallet, and your longevity a favour by not coming here.
