I went here expecting the service to be better. They are not nearly as attentive to their patients of Color as they are to their white clientele. From our very first experience here it's been NOTHING BUT BAD! My son needed blood work done and the first time the nurse stuck him 3x and still nothing, we returned the next day and same thing, finally he was able to see a nurses who knew how to draw blood!
They prescribed my daughter a prescription that we are STILL waiting to have them send to the pharmacy 2mo later! When asked how I can file a complaint I was transferred to a voicemail and haven't heard back yet (it's been months!). If you're a #POC I recommend going anywhere else but here #noninclusive #notallarewelcomehere #biased #racialbiased

I know most folks have had a good experience here, but unfortunately i did not. i came to this practice after moving from another state, and honestly all i needed was an updated prescription for the medication i was using prior to moving. instead, i was given a handful of "new" medications that caused my skin to make a lot of backwards progress. upon returning to the clinic, instead of recognizing what *was* working for my skin, the dermatologist suggested accutane for me, which is not something i am comfortable taking for a variety of reasons. thankfully i wasn't pushed into this, but the fact that my previous medications were completely dismissed was extremely frustrating. the medications i was suggested also had copays that ended up not being affordable for me in the long term. i was also misgendered frequently. i left this practice in january and have no plans to return now that i have found a telehealth dermatologist i am finding success with.

Staff have all been very professional and listen to my concerns well. I've been seeing a provider there for a few months now and have been treated respectfully and have no issues. Cost hasn't been an issue and my payments have been around $25 with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance for anyone concerned about cost.

Just had a fabulous experience at Uptown Dermatology & Skin. I was referred to Rachel through a coworker. I saw her for a consultation for wrinkle prevention. She recommended a facial with microdermabrasion to start. The process was great! It was very relaxing with only a few brief moments of very, very minor discomfort. My skin already look so much better!
I don't feel upsold at all, thought the pricing was fair, and am excited to begin the new skin care routine she recommended. Her knowledge, personality, and professionalism made all of the purchases comfortable. 10/10, would recommend :

I've been to a few dermatology clinics in the Minneapolis area and didn't have great experiences. I asked a friend who they went to for dermatology help and they stated Uptown Dermatology. WOW! I wish I would've went to them right away. I saw Dr. Jaime Davis and one of the Physician Assistants- Jason Davis; they both took the time to listen to me and care for me and offer me treatments that weren't offered by other dermatologists I have seen.
My chronic rash is now well managed and nearly resolved. And, my insurance covered everything. I highly recommend this clinic as they listen and are highly responsive. Thankful!

I have only great things to say about uptown dermatology. The staff are amazing always friendly and fun. Feels a lot like family. Always up front with what will help you in your skin care needs. They are extremely knowledgeable with everything that they do with their products and procedures. Just an amazing group of individuals. Ready to help with whatever you need.
Beautiful group of people. I am not just talking about their appearance I am talking about the inside of a person. I would Recommend this place to anyone Who has skin care issues from scarring to acne. I have terrible scars, Joan has helped me so much. Dr Davis has helped me with shaping my mouth from an accident I had when I was a teenager. I am truly blessed to have met these beautiful people in our world.

Nice people, but they cancel appointments late & the doc I eventually saw was a horrible listener. How late do they cancel on you? I was already there waiting, & the appointment should have already started when someone came to the waiting room to notify me the Dr had just called in "sick." Generally speaking, you expect people to call in sick BEFORE their shift starts, not 10 minutes after.
When I actually got seen the following week, I had to keep repeating myself. It's like the Dr was watching me talk, but wasn't actually listening to what I was saying. It was a 1 hour appointment, so there should have been plenty of time for a more thorough & attentive conversation. To top it all off, at the conclusion of the appointment, they said they'd have to consult with the other Dr. Yes, the very same Dr who called in "sick" so late cancelling the prior week's appointment.
I then waited yet another week for a response which, once again, showed they had given my condition no real thought/attention. I have a fairly rare condition causing problematic double hairs over a large percentage of my body (think of all the places a guy has hair). They actually suggested individual electrolysis of those double hairs?!? This was after I had already expressed concern during my appointment about the cost of laser.
So after 1 full week of consideration, they suggested a treatment that's nonpermanent & ultimately more expensive than laser. A suggestion like that sure doesn't make it seem like they've given it any thought whatsoever. This is especially true when the only other offer is to slather antibiotics all over yourself because it "might" help. Ugh. Once again, if the Dr had listened, I repeatedly said infections weren't the issue - I was tired of having to pull hairs to avoid infections. Listening shouldn't be too much to ask.
In the end, if laser is truly the only permanent option, they should have had the guts to talk with me about it & outline the costs of treating the worst areas. If they had paid any attention during the assesment, they'd have noted how often I have to get waxed, & realized I was already spending the equivalent of about 50% of the cost of laser every year on waxing alone (let alone the expense of products to maintain & avoid major issues after the waxings).
Pay attention to what the patient is saying. If laser is truly the only permanent solution for my condition, I'm definitely getting it elsewhere after a more thorough, thoughtful assessment.

The moment you walk into Uptown Dermatology, you will be greeted with a smile and with professionalism. They take you back into a nice, clean room. I see Nadine who will make you feel relaxed and always has a smile. She will listen to you and when you leave you will feel like all your questions and concerns have been addressed. I have been going here for years and have recommended it to many people. You will be very happy and feel comfortable. Thanks Nadine and all the staff for making my experience great.

My first visit was in October and my second visit was in December. At the first visit they said I would be satisfied by thanksgiving but happy with my skin by Christmas. And they were so right! My skin has never been this clear and I haven't worn foundation in almost a month because my skin looks so great!

I can't believe I have been coming here for so long and haven't posted a review. I came in two years ago because my "perfect skin" betrayed me - I started to break out with cystic hormonal acne. I was scheduled with Angela - she is always smiling and friendly, and she always answers my questions and has helped me love my skin again. I am so thankful. She truly cares about her patients and her assistant nurse Rachel is awesome! I love seeing them both!

I had a 70 minute facial with Christine today. I had an ever so relaxing experience! Beautiful office and the room I had my facial in was warm and cozy. Christine was very pleasant and kind. She gave me options, explained the process, and gave a great facial including a light chemical peel. I loved the soothing music and heated bed! My face feels so great! I've met Dr. Jaime Davis before coming here and she is exceptional! I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return. Parking was also easy in back of the building. Thank you so much for such a positive experience!

I have been here many times for the dermatologist, but this was my first visit at the SkinSpa. It was amazing! I highly recommend the esthetician. She was polite, friendly, gave great advice for my skin, recommended products and treatments, and was very professional. The Deluxe Facial was relaxing and my skin is still glowing! I cannot wait to go back!

So young, so fresh and so clear clear! I recently started using the Spa Services at Uptown Derm & SkinSpa. I now am addicted. I seriously look at my calendar for my next free weekend for facials and peels! I won't give you my Aesthetician's name (hey-----her schedule is getting harder and harder for me!) but so far I've talked w/a few of the other Spa staff and all are extremely easy to talk to, no matter what the embarassing breakout could be. I've gone through two peels (vitalize and rejuvanize) and a few microdermabrasions and have never had any issues whatsoever (besides the normal effect of a peel).
I notice a huge difference in my wrinkles, poors and elasticity! Even my friends, family and coworkers are impressed and a few go to the Spa now. I highly recommend Uptown Derm & Spa for medical visits and spa treatments over anywhere else.

I'm one of those lucky people with lots of moles and a family history of melanoma, joy. After I couldn't take any more of my mom's pestering, I made a cancer-screening appointment at Uptown Dermatology based solely on the fact I could walk there from my apartment. The atmosphere is very calming and I really enjoyed the brightness of their lobby, I hate those generic brown lobbies of most clinics.
Full body skin cancer screenings are awkward, there's no way around it. But Dr. Ahmed and the nurse practitioners made me feel as comfortable as was possible for such an appointment. They were very courteous and sympathetic to the nature of the appointment. My lab results were also timely, received well within the week they had allotted. The follow up appointment a few months later went just as smoothly. Dr. Ahmed knowledgeably addressed my concerns about scarring and gave me some suggestions, which was appreciated. I'll continue to see them because they don't make me feel in any way uncomfortable. I've actually recommended them to a co-worker who was not pleased with the demeanor of her current dermatologist. She had her first appointment this morning and came back with raving reviews, so I can't be just a fluke!

I didn't find this particular dermatological office to be very helpful, in hindsight. I went there for the first time in 2011 for some adult-onset acne issues. They prescribed me an antibiotic and topical cream which did help relieve things for awhile, but the problems came back - I realize that nothing may actually 'cure' some acne issues, but.
I went back this year and without much of an examination or follow up, I was prescribed the same exact treatments, even though the issue had changed. The examinations were honestly about 5 minutes and it feels like there is just a standard treatment that they prescribe patients, even though not all acne issues are the same. I actually got a facial from a local spa and have since used Aveda products for break outs and issues.
The Aveda products have helped my skin stay more consistent than anything. I read another review that claimed one of the doctors had a condescending tone and I have to agree. It wasn't a comfortable experience overall and I will be going to a clinic for future skin concerns.

I would NOT recommend going to Uptown Dermatology. I went there about 6 months ago for Microderm and had a good experience with the actual service but was persuaded to buy almost all of their products. I just went back today for a skin and mole check. The front desk lady was completely rude and told another lady she was "a little" late for her appointment so it was going to be a while and they will be seeing everyone else that is on time for their appointment before her.
I almost walked out with her. Then I got my 1 minute skin and mole check from the doctor. I don't feel any better about being cancer free than when I made my appointment. I also asked about other skin issues I was worried about/wanted advice on and got no help besides that I should use sunscreen. I will not be going back here and would highly recommend others not going here as well.

I was referred to the clinic by my regular doctor and saw the nurse practitioner Risa, who was available sooner than the doctor. Risa was completely condescending. First, she recommended a cancer causing cream (hydroquinone), that is banned in most other countries (ok, it must be common here), but she dismissed research on its toxicity, as if none of it's relevant because the doses are so much higher in rats. Um, that's how that testing is done, and not all substances turn out to be carcinogenic, mutagenic, etc. like hydroquinone.
How could she ignore my concerns and scientific evidence? Instead, her other suggestions seemed to funnel me towards the clinic's spa services and products, and when I asked her which of two creams was better, she said the second "if I could afford it." Really? Is that how a healthcare professional speaks to patients? As I talked, I could tell she was judging everything about me, and I'm a presentable grad student, not a hobo. I feel like the entire visit was worthless and made me feel terrible to boot. On the plus side, it's a beautiful clinic, so there's that.

At first, I wasn't so sure about Uptown Dermatology. I was on this big natural health care kick (which I'm still on, for that matter) and I was very anti-everything-they-tried-to-prescribe me. However, after about six months of no improvement in my post-college acne attack, I sought their help once again. I thought, "OK, these are professionals and maybe I should do what they say instead of drinking so much apple cider vinegar." And guess what---it worked.
I originally saw Becky White, but she moved away so now I see Risa Dorweiler (both nurse practitioners). They both have been able to help me put things back into whack, so to speak. They even prescribed this topical treatment that is usually used for rosacea but ended up working miracles on me. I've been very, VERY happy with the results. I've also had three Swedish massages from Olaf here (bought a daily discount). He's a really nice guy and the massages were OK but didn't hold a candle to Miki at SpotSpa.
His unusual technique is hit or miss for me, but that may just be a personal preference. The atmosphere is a combination of doctors office and spa, which makes sense because that's what it is. There are plenty of cosmetic treatments you can get here, if you're into that. Make sure you grab a handful of samples from their big bowl of mini lotions and sunscreen on the way out! P.S. They validate parking (at least partially) for the lot in the back, but when I drive I usually park on 31st and walk because I'm super cheap and could use the exercise.

Been here twice, going back again next week. Dr. Ecker (sp?) was very nice, and he really listened to me when I talked about my skin. He even had someone in training with him during my appt, which I thought was pretty cool. At the time I was uninsured, so I was paying for everything out of pocket. He offered to chat with me over the phone the next time I needed an appt, instead of making my pay $100 for an office visit.
Super thoughtful. All in all great clinic, a nice clean space. One thing I will say is the receptionists could have been nicer. They were ok over the phone when making an appt, but weren't very friendly in person. They assumed I knew what to do when I got there (on my first visit to the clinic) and I had to figure it all out myself.

I was referred by a friend to get a massage from Laura. So. I bought a package deal and have loved every single massage. I wish I could have one every day! She's very attentive to my stressed, tense areas. If you're lucky you can hit one of the package sales - they're too hard to pass up. She's excellent at what she does and I would recommend her to anyone wanting a massage. Very reasonable prices and parking validation : It's a very calming and relaxing environment.
