Dr Howland I just saw that you answered my review. I don't think you understood. I did not just walk in. I spoke with Beverly your nurse the day before and she called me back and told me after speaking with you to come in in the morning and you would see me. I would have to sit and wait because you would work me in. If you remember I have been seeing you for several years and I moved to Virginia for a year and you still treated Me when I was up there.

I moved back I was three hours away from you. I did not just walk in. I spoke to Beverly and I want to be clear on that. She is amazing and she said it will talk with Dr Howland and call you back and she did and you told her yes come in and I would be worked in. Your office people were brand new and they did not know me and they were very rude. I just want to be clear that Beverly and I spoke and I was told to come in. I don't just walk in to a doctors office and expect to be seen. I am not that rude.you have been my doctor for several years.

Dr Howland is incredibly knowledgeable, listens and explains difficult topics in a very easy manner, and seems to tailor treatment to the individual rather than throwing some default prescription your way. Highly recommended!

Took my husband to see Dr. Howland for his asthma after being diagnosed by another asthma specialist but not getting very many answers. We were able to get an appointment within the week. Dr. Howland's office staff was great from the moment we entered. The best part is that Dr. Howland spent an hour in the exam room with us asking questions, running breathing tests, having conversation and exploring every possible issue.

A full hour! What doctor spends more than about 5 minutes with you these days? He was so thorough in his questions, took time to explain everything in terms we could understand, even diagnosing other ailments not in the allergy/asthma realm that we need to explore that could be causing some of his other problems. I was so impressed with him that I immediately made an appointment for my daughter to see him the following week and he was just as amazing, spending another hour talking to her and asking detailed questions about her allergy issues. I recommend Dr. Howland 100%. I've never been more impressed with a doctor. You won't be disappointed.

Dr. Howland is by far the best doctor I've ever been to, and the staff in his office are all fantastic as well. I spent a year going to multiple different doctors trying to figure out my mystery illness. After doing A LOT of research, I finally found Dr. Howland, and I am sooo glad I did! He is the only doctor who knew what was wrong with me, but also the only one that actually took the time to listen to me and cared about helping me. He was compassionate and very good at explaining things to me. I cried after my first visit because I was so happy that I found him!

Dr. Howland's office has since become a model for patient privacy. Can I just say that he and his staff are amazing? They are. That is all.

This review was by far the easiest I have ever written and it is all due to Dr. Holland's aptness and know-how. His expertise, thoroughness and his compassion listening to my prior experiences with my allergy problems were welcomed. Dr. Holland is thoughtful, attentive and gave the most complete and detailed exam I have ever experienced. If you feel defeated and have given up on getting your allergy obstacles remedied, give Dr. Holland and Allergy & Asthma Center of Austin a call. It is well worth your time!

Dr. Howland is one of the best doctors I know. His knowledge and expertise is supreme. One of my favorite things with Dr. Howland is how he educates you about your illness. He is a great person with excellent bedside manners. I'm now breathing better because of him. Something previous doctors has not been able to do. If you suffer from bad Asthma or Allergies I could not recommend a better doctor to see.

I recently saw Dr. Howland for the first time and I cannot say enough good tings about my experience. I recently moved to Austin and did some research to find an allergist on my insurance plan that was close to work and home. I read a review that noted how Dr. Howland spends time with his patients and actually listens, so I scheduled an appointment.

It was not an exaggeration. He spent a lot of time with me as I listed off my symptoms and asked follow-up questions that showed he really was trying to get to the root of the problem versus sending me off with a random grab bag of stuff. His office staff was also very friendly and courteous. I am glad I stumbled upon his practice and will definitely be keeping him as my allergist going forward.

I've seen several different Allergy doctors around Austin and Dr. Howland is by far the best. I feel like he is actually listening to your symptoms and is trying to fix your issues instead of just trying to prescribe medications.

I just visited Dr. Howland's office for the first time. From making the appointment with the office manager (Meghan), to the reception experience (Tash), to the nurse (Debbie), to Dr. Howland himself, I really had a good experience! Everyone I dealt with is eager to help, and wants to be sure that you have all your questions answered. The doctor carefully went through my paperwork and history and talked with me about what treatment I wanted and needed.

They will be able to accommodate my injections and should have my serum ready to go within a week. Very impressive! It's so refreshing to have a doctor listen to you and want to work with you. Thank you for a great visit!

Amazing Doctor! Dr. Howland is attentive and knowledgable. I have been suffering from "asthma and allergy" issues only to find out GERD, LPR, and Costochondritis were the main reasons for my symptoms. No matter how minute your symptom, Dr. Howland likely has a treatment suggestion. He is one of the researchers for many of the asthma and allergies available by Rx today. Do yourself a favor, if you are suffering from shortness of breath and/or seasonal allergies, go see Dr. Howland, he will get you on the road to feeling better!

Do not ask too many questions or you may be asked to leave the business AFTER they have collected all of the insurance. I am allergic to about everything, so that one test was accurate and equals my one star. I was then put on shots. I took them weekly for 5 years. I was told that they may help after awhile. When I complained that the shots and meds did not work and I wanted to know if there was something that could help, I was told that the doctor no longer needed to see me.

No questions were answered, obviously no shots or meds helped; so my obvious conclusion is that I was there for the money only. And shots are no fun. Dr. Howland seemed nice enough at the beginning, and then distant. I'm glad I moved on.

I've been getting allergy shots here for years and have been amazed how well they keep my year-round seasonal allergies under control. It's easily a 90% improvement over how I used to be. Dr. Howland is very friendly, personable, and actually quite hilarious. I love a doctor who actually listens and also has a good sense of humor. Very grateful that this place takes my insurance and that I don't need an appointment for my shots.

Most thorough doctor I've seen pretty much ever, and I mean this in the best way possible. He covered all areas, taking as much time as needed and informing us along the way, instead of just throwing a prescription at us without any insight or background information. He provided us with lots of options, was honest about side effects and cost, and gave us alternatives, which is very appreciated when you're peasants like us. No superfluous treatments, tests, etc., which is too common. Great doc.

Dr Howland and his team of nurses and front desk secretaries are some of the most thorough and kind people that I've met. I've been seeing them for about 2 months as a new patient. I had been diagnosed with chronic idiopathic urticaria (having hives every day for over 6 weeks) without a clear allergy cause and they were doing everything to help relieve me of the nonstop itchiness.

Since I started seeing Dr Howland, we've progressed from traditional antihistamines to the newer Xolair treatment and it has been extremely effective for me since day one. I would highly recommend him to friends and family. He's a doctor who listens well and also does a great job of explaining cause and effect of possible root causes of a problem and doesn't assume anything.

I call Dr. Howland my Miracle Worker! I've had (severe) asthma all my life with numerous emergency room visits but not since I've been seeing Dr. Howland! My symptoms have subsided with the proper treatment and I can proudly say in the past 15 or so years I have everything under control and no emergency room visits. He absolutely cares and listens to you, he's always up to date with the newest-latest-and-greatest and is always trying to work with me on different medicines that will work for my allergies. He's really the best. Bonus, he's a funny guy!

It was my first visit here and Dr. Howland and his entire staff were beyond wonderful. I got an appointment on the day I called and overall I am amazed by the way they treat their patients. Dr Howland spent so much time explaining the reasons for my chronic rhinitis and various treatment options. He went over it twice and made sure I understood everything.

I have never seen any other Doctor spend so much effort after every patient. Cost wise I would say after insurance I was shocked it was so low for a single consultation. 10/10 will definitely recommend.

I visited Dr. Howland for the first time today, and I am over the moon. He was very respectful of my concerns, very knowledgeable in his answers, and addressed every question I had without making me feel like I was wasting his time. I have never learned so much in a doctor's appointment - I wish he could be my GP! He diagnosed issues I've been having for years that aren't even allergy related. I highly recommend Dr. Howland - I will be returning.

Dr. Howland is the best doctor I have ever had. He has a very nice, positive attitude that just puts me in a good mood. He is very knowledgeable and actually takes his time with his assessment. He gives you plenty of time to ask questions and makes sure you comprehend every bit of the entire process. I also really like his explanations and educational material. For example, when he was explaining how allergic reactions work, he used a diagram that made it easier to understand. If you are looking for an allergist, look no further!

Dr. Howland is the best doctor I have ever seen. And I've been to a lot of doctors lately. I really do think he is one of the nicest people I have ever met! I had never seen an allergist before or had a scratch test, so I had no idea what to expect. The nurse (who was also wonderful) checked me in and got basic info from me, then Dr. Howland came in and got a very thorough medical history and asked me a ton of questions.

I think he spent about half an hour with me just in that first part of the appointment. Then I had the scratch test - which was so easy, don't be scared - and then he came back in and spent another 20 or 30 minutes with me, going over the results and discussing solutions and what's next. I was so impressed by his caring demeanor and ability to take as much time as needed to get to the bottom of my allergy issues.

He has a great sense of humor too! Side note - when I told him about a few other health things I had going on, that weren't allergy related, he was concerned and went and printed out some info for me to look at. Seriously, it wasn't even stuff that he deals with, but he cared enough to take the time and help. One thing was a blood test for recurrent miscarriages.

My own fertility doctor, who I have been seeing for a year, has never even mentioned this blood test to me. After doing some research on my own, Dr. Howland was right about the test. This man is an incredible doctor and a very sweet person. There ought to be more folks like him.

Doctor Howland has been my allergist for over twenty years. In addition to being an great doctor with extensive knowledge of the allergy situation here in Austin, (he picked fertile ground to work in!) he's a really nice guy to deal with who takes all the time needed to explain your health situation to you and the best course of treatment to give you the maximum relief available. If you're looking for an allergy specialist, I heartily endorse him.

When we first moved to Austin, I interviewed three allergists to see who would take over the care of my three asthmatic kids from our awesome allergist in Houston. Dr. Howland won hands down. I felt confident in his knowledge and approach. Besides that, he's just a great guy, very friendly. I highly recommend him and his office!

Again, this was from a while ago when I was seeing specialist after specialist trying to determine wtf was wrong with me. As part of that process I went into his office and asked him to test me for every known allergen so I could cross it off my list. He was so super cool. He told me NO, he would not order a long list of expensive tests for me. Then, he told me WHY he was saying no, and it made sense. (Keep in mind, at this point I was pretty sick and couldn't remember the last time I'd had a good night sleep (as in years).

So the fact that he could reason with a full-on uber sick person is truly quite impressive. He talked to the intelligent human being that was hiding under all that sickness and said, 'I don't think your issue is seasonal allergies because. I DO think you should be tested for a gluten allergy though. I don't even do that test here, but order this one test instead. It's $99 instead of $500 and I think it is what your problem is. Huh?

I doctor that won't take my money? Uhm. okay. And guess what. He was right. I have a damn gluten allergy. (Not the fad preferred diet thing, but the bonafide allergy.) So, for ten years now I've avoided gluten and for 10 years now I've been infinitely healthier (50 pound lighter too - bonus!). Thanks Dr. Howland! (Side note: I've sent people with actual seasonal allergies to him as well and they've been happy when having seasonal allergies treated by him. )
