My surgeon Dr Sherlock was great, the surgery was a success. Im a believer in disc replacements. I'm leaving 3 stars because I am now in debt collections due to the office not submitting the proper paperwork for required imaging done prior to surgery. I have called TBI repeatedly and left numerous voicemails without this being resolved. This should be an easy fix however I've been getting the run around for months and this may either ruin my credit or stick me with a very expensive medial bill. Can't wait for tbi to leave a reply here with their customer service/ billing number as if I haven't tried that.

Dr AJ Rush's focus is 100% upon the patient and the patient's best interest. He listens to the patient and makes sure no questions are left unanswered. He was obviously born to be a doctor!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 3 weeks of sending paperwork - they lost my paperwork twice in a week. Then on the 3rd time I am sending my paperwork and literally 23 email exchanges for a simple task - after I ask several times for if they need anything else - they suddenly need another missing document. I go rush and get the document for them and they don't reply for another 4 days.

They are unable to view the Xrays I sent and refuse to make an appointment for me until they can figure out how to view on the XRays on their own computer. They have left me abandoned laying in indescribable pain and refuse to lift a finger to help. I would go anywhere else possible for trying to make an appointment with Doctor Guyer. This is the most unprofessional scattered clustered experience I have ever had at a doctor - This is probably a good sign if he cant even get his office working properly I highly doubt his skills at anything else especially my spine!

I had surgery at TBI, Plano, and I found the post operative support to be the worst i have experienced. You are kept on hold forever. It's as they do not care and this reflects on how this organization is run as a whole. I showed up for post surgery appointment and the gal at the reception said i was not on the schedule and wasn't unprepared to assist. Until i demanded they call back at the doctor's office did i get to see the surgeon.

Dr. Peter Derman and his staff performed my disc replacement and I couldn't be happier with the results. I went from limited mobility with a high pain level pre-surgery to snowboarding and running 4 months post surgery. This is the highest level of care you can receive for disc replacement surgery with world class experts on staff.

In my opinion they owe us our deductible back. In short: Dec 2021 insurance denied a procedure, we asked to appeal, insurance sent back approval Dec 10 (we had met our out of pocket max already for the year cause of having a baby). They were supposed to schedule my husband back in and call him telling insurance approved.they did not. New year rolls around and we follow up.

Get the procedure done but this time since it's the new year we haven't met our out of pocket max. And to top it off the epidural put into my husbands back for his compressed disk did nothing. Thanks for wasting time and our money. This place is guess and check and not effectively run.

Life changing! When I found TBI I was in dire need. A seemingly uneventful task of wrapping gifts on Christmas Eve led to a chain of daily progressive pain, each day worse than the one before with no reprieve. My first visit with Texas Back Institute with Dr. Bhuva is hazy since I was in so much pain. My husband was with me (thank goodness) since I was not really very functional at this point in time.

I couldn't stand or walk on my own. Though, I do remember most importantly that I was heard and cared for gently. She did not try to tell me this was normal or that it would ease on its own or with PT. She did not try to scare me, but she was honest. I felt she treated me with kindness and respect. She immediately ordered an MRI. I am forever grateful for her taking me seriously and taking the right next steps with my care. Unfortunately, between my first visit and the MRI I had an ER trip in between (2 days).

A wrong movement had extruded the disc more making me unable to move. My second visit to TBI was after my MRI report with Dr. Derman and his team. The MRI showed the severity of the herniation/extrusion. We discussed thoroughly what was happening with this disc. The MRI showed that I had a pretty invasive disc herniation that was crushing my L4 nerve with intensity.

Although this sounds dramatic, my options were limited since this extrusion was so bad. I needed surgery, though minimally invasive, and I was reassured that after this I would feel so much better. I was anxious about the idea of surgery but when they talked me through it I felt confident that it was the right decision and since I was in so much pain I needed the help.

I was excited to hear about Dr. Derman's success, really leading the industry in this type of surgery which helped reassure me about my confidence in procedure and recovery. Surgery was a wonderful experience. How many people can say that? The surgical team was yet again caring and professional. Dr. Derman's team was friendly, professional and confident.

I found that important. I felt like I was in and out in minutes. The intense pain was gone almost immediately. My pain management was handled well. Recovery over the next 6 weeks was steady. I believe I was given realistic expectations. Even if I wanted to do a cirque du solei act immediately, I needed to take some baby steps first. Pain wasn't too bad.

I don't love pain medication so I didn't take much but I really had all I needed. That was on me. I was working from home by day 2. Now I'm 7.5 weeks into recovery and I can actually say I know what days feel like without pain. I didn't realize how long I had gone in life before this with at least a little bit of pain every day. Now I have days with none.

Every once in awhile I have some aches and pains but they are really mild. It is really a night and day difference. I would highly recommend the TBI team. Specifically Dr. Bhuva and Dr. Derman and their assistants. I will never go anywhere else again. Thank you!

First and foremost, I want to give a big thank you to Texas Back Institute. This is beyond a 5 star rating with the professionalism and care Dr. Peter Derman and staff provided. I had multiple questions regarding my injury and Dr. Derman and staff were always there to give me answers. I was literally on my hands and knees due to a herniated disc. In October of 2021,D r. Derman performed Minimally Invasive Laminectomy Lumbar surgery to repair the herniated disc. The next day I was walking with minimal to no pain in my back. I would highly recommend Dr. Derman and staff to anyone suffering from a spine related injury.

The most efficient and professional medical center I have ever been to. The office and medical staff made my wife and I feel extremely comfortable and safe. Everything was explained in great detail. At times we had the impression that we had known them all of our lives. When I went in for my first visit to see if anything could be done for me, I was 63 1/2 years old, was barely walking, and having to use two canes while scooting my feet.

The pain was so intense that I would sometimes have tears in my eyes. After five hours of surgery I immediately dedicated myself to physical therapy and followed all instructions from the therapists and my doctor. I am now back to playing drums in our band and riding a motorcycle. My situation may not be typical but I will always suggest that people seeking relief from back problems to go to TBI first.
