I am a board certified psychiatrist and nationally acclaimed author who specializes in the psychiatric evaluation, medical and therapeutic care of individuals who are suffering from mental illness. I have a solo private practice in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Hampton Roads area. This allows me to give my patients the privacy and attention they deserve.
My services include a thorough evaluation, indvidualized treatment plan, medications management, therapy and patient education. Because a wide variety of MDs and therapists provide treatment in the mental health field today, it is important to know the level of training and experience of the person treating you.
Sex can be fun. Not only playful but also special, serious fun. It can become frustrating when you can't seem to "get it right." Sex is one of the supreme joys of life, so when it doesn't go right, it can be devastating. You might feel ashamed, discouraged and defeated. Some people lose some of their zest for life and their relationship may become hostile, distant or bitter.
Choking sensations, difficulty swallowing, feeling your throat is closing or feeling something is caught in your throat. Palpitations--feeling your heart is beating so hard that it is going to jump out of your chest. Numbness or tingling sensations especially of the hands and feet but also of the head or face.

I saw the doctor for a couple years to treat bipolar disorder but then moved out of the area. I collected social security for a couple years and had to use community resources and doctors. They gave me a diagnoses of schizophrenia. Since then I got back to work and got insurance again. Found another doctor who is not convinced of the latest schizophrenia diagnoses so he said I have schizoaffective disorder. He said a person can not change diagnoses. Anyway I am doing fine working and married again. Oh and I quit drinking alcohol this really helped me.

I sought out Dr. Granoff after two years of night terrors and nightly and daily panic attacks and anxiety. I became more afraid of medication. I have been a patient for decades and I am so happy to have met Dr Granoff and he has helped me be a better person. I know that panic attacks can't kill you but it feels like you are dying! Thanks for all your help with my sleeplessness and anxiety and especially with my panic attacks frequency has dropped.

Excellent. I highly doubt the people writing negative reviews are actually patients. I have preexisting health issues and have seen a number of other doctors in different health care systems, including specialists, who were unable to treat my issues effectively. I am now able live normally. I have been to EVMS, UVA medical center, and other places, and haven't encountered a doctor with the expertise on the medications he specializes in any other healthcare system(in fact, I received incorrect information from other doctors, and other doctors prescribed me other medications that actually harmed my health).
Each patient is different, for me, Dr. Grandoff is a life saver. There needs to be more practices like this one, many other doctors are quick to prescribe other types of medications that do not treat the root issues and can worsen symptoms. With Grandoff, I have gotten the medication that actually works for me and am functioning at a higher level than I have in years.

DR. Granoff has been helping me recently, genuinely caring about what I have been going through all of my life and listening. I am finally free of the crippling anxiety, night terrors, and other problems I have faced all of my life. Not one other DR I have ever visited and I've visited countless actually listened from the heart to what I am experiencing.
I am working on myself now, I'm getting more work done at my real estate job, looking into getting a degree as well. All things my anxiety would just keep me from doing, or the thought of failure, not wanting to leave the house etc. me and dr Granoff are going to continue to work through my progression and my whole family has seen a change in me that's indescribable. Thankyou DR. Granoff

Dr. Granoff saved my life. I've had horrible anxiety and panic attacks most of my life. I would start to avoid certain things that would trigger my attacks such as driving at night. A couple weeks ago I was able to drive 20 hours each way by myself to visit my parents. I am now starting to come off of my medication and am mostly symptom free. My treatment consisted of first getting my symptoms under control.
Next doctor was able to get me to a point where I was productive in my daily life. Now I am at the point where I am almost symptom free. I cannot thank Dr. Granoff enough for his help!

I have been suffering from severe anxiety and luckily found Dr. Granoff on the internet. I appreciate him taking the time for me to help me deal with some issues that have really overwhelmed me. I used to deal with things by myself, but it got to a point where I realized I needed someone to intervene and help me. I am forever grateful I found Dr. Granoff. Thank you for all that you do. My anxiety and panic attacks have gotten so much better. I will continue to see him and I recommend him to anyone.

I have had panic attacks off and on since my early twenties. After seeing more psychologist than I can count I finally started seeing Dr. Grandoff a little over a year ago at the age of 39. Most people that have never experienced anxiety at this level have no clue how debilitating this condition can be. Even many psychologist have no clue. I was tired of other doctors telling me how I felt and how to live with it. You can have you life back and Dr. Grandoff can help. Thankyou Dr. Grandoff I am living my best life seen before my condition.

I have been a patient of Dr. Granoff for more than 10 years. I came to be his patient after I had a series of terrible attacks, where I would experience physical symptoms, along with a feeling of certainty that I was going to die. I was hospitalized and was having tests done throughout the night, to see if I had experienced a heart attack, or some other condition.
All tests came back normal. Since this was not the first time I had these symptoms I was referred to a Cardiologist, a Gastroenterologist, and an Endocrinologist, among others. None could find anything wrong. The Gastroenterologist suggested I consult a Psychiatrist. I didn't want to do that, but I was not able to function. Most of my episodes happened when I was driving, and I had to drive in order to get to work.
I took the advice of the Gastroenterologist; I made an appointment with Dr. Granoff. I provided Dr. Granoff with my medical records. He reviewed my medical records and my medical history before our first appointment. At our consultation, Dr. Granoff asked many questions, and listened intently to my answers. Eventually, he began asking about symptoms that I had ignored for years. Initially, I didn't want to accept that I suffered from a disorder, but I do.
In fact, by helping me understand what was going on, and helping me understand the smaller symptoms I had ignored, Dr. Granoff helped me to avoid pitfalls, such as self-medicating, or taking medicines that would not help. Dr. Granoff maintains great continuity of care. He remembers what happened in previous sessions, and will challenge you if you seem to be repeating mistakes, etc. I greatly value Dr. Granoff and my continuing Dr./patient relationship with him. Thank you

Dr. Granoff is an accomplished researcher, and knows pharmacology like very few around here and from the hey days of the field. He's as ethical as they come, and as such he refuses to abandon the most effective treatment for disorders such as mine. Don't be put off by those who are writing negative reviews. They are likely challenged with mental issues and don't realize what damage they are doing by commenting on things they don't know about.

Its a freaking shame you can't give 0 stars. My sister saw him for a while few years ago. He had her on 22 mg of Xanax. She only wanted 3mg. After a lot more money & appointments she trusted this man. I've been with her to several appointments. Ive witnessed this dr talk down to my sis, myself, his and his lovely wife. My sister had lost her job and Granoff wouldn't make a payment plan with her, she suffered 3 seizures due to not having refills and the horrible withdrawals. Luckily she is alive and well now. Can't believe he still has his license, in total shock.

I've been seeing Dr. Granoff for over 20 years, he has truly helped me with my anxiety and panic attacks. He helped me understand the "what and why" of my anxiety. He is very knowledgeable about the disease. With his help, I am now able to go places and do things I never would have been able to do years ago.
