Services
Dr. Michael Rontal completed his residency at Washington University in St. Louis under the direction of Dr. Joseph Ogura, a renowned and innovative cancer surgeon. After finishing his residency, he entered the U.S. Army and became Chief of the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
Because the nose stands projected from the central aspect of the face, and because it is an important part of our airway, its form and function are key aspects of ENT health. However, its location also makes it a common point of facial trauma. The turbinates are normal structures of the nasal passage.

After my first visit with Dr. Rontal he guided me with options to resolve my issues. Two weeks later he surprised me with a call. He indicted the he wasn't satisfied with his diagnosis and reviewed test results and notes, conferred with his co doctors, and offered up new options and procedures that might better work to resolving the issues. In this crazy world we live in today, I was truly surprised for his extra efforts to truly help. BRAVO TO DR. MATT RONTAL!

This was one of the best clinical experiences I have ever had! The staff were all extremely kind and efficient. I saw Kelly Hope, NP and she was absolutely wonderful! Very caring, listened well, took the time to a obtain a thorough history/physical exam, and then performed seamless laryngoscopy (scope to look at vocal chords) that was so smooth and painless! I had zero downtime where I was just sitting and waiting, so I was in and out in less than 30min. Such a fantastic experience!

I was born with a deviated septum and could hardly breath out of one side my whole life. A friend referred me to Matt Rontal years ago but I never followed through with the surgery. Since I was going to be getting my septum fixed, I decided to fix the exterior as well because I didn't like a few characteristics. Well, this year I'm so happy to say I did! Matt is so transparent, thorough, caring and understanding.
Most importantly, he has the experience and really knows what he is talking about. It's only been 10 days post-surgery, my cast is off, and I can breath like I never could before - and it's only going to improve from here. A whole new world! And my nose looks exactly how I wanted it to look. Matt is the modern day Van Gogh with his surgeon tools. Thanks again to The Rontal Clinic

I have been to the Rontal Clinic a handful of times and cannot say enough good things about this clinic! It's clean, they're quick to schedule you for appointments, and when you're there for your appointment there's hardly a wait! I've had all of my appointments with Kelly Hope, NP, and also cannot say enough good things about her! She's attentive and really listens to your concerns. I like that she is informative and never seems annoyed by my 1 million questions. I appreciate her so much!

Best medical experience my dad and I had in years! Convenient parking, good signage to office, polite desk staff, quick to get to physician (who was awesome - alleviated the medical issue and was nice, no talking down to) and pleasant exit staff. As close to perfect as I can imagine. Sounds incredible, but it's true. Thank you!

I went to see Dr. Michael Rontal after doing research for highly qualified ENT doctors. Everything I read made it seem like he was one of the best. I was extremely disappointed with my experience. First of all, I waited 40 min to even get into a room, and then once in the room I waited another 25 to see the doctor! Once seen, I felt like Dr. Rontal was in a hurry just trying to rush me out of the office.
I also felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. Without even listening to my history of issues he said I should just get my tonsils out. He literally stood by the door the entire time and kept looking at the clock. For a doctor who has two walls full of certifications and awards, he certainly lacked bedside manner.

Great doctors, but the office staff is disorganized, incompetent, and unprofessional as well as very unfriendly and unhelpful. I was a patient there many years ago, and now, that I had a problem, decided to go back to their office as the doctors are great. First of all, it was very difficult to schedule an appointment for the time convenient for me, then when I got there, they had only one receptionist who was on the phone for about 15 minutes, making me actually late for my appointment, and then, when she got off the phone, she told me that my appointment was in their Royal Oak office, and not in Farmington Hills, where I had come for the appointment.
I was not even aware that they had an office in Royal Oak. For many years, while I was a patient, I had always come to the Farmington Hills office; Royal Oak is very far from me and I would never have scheduled anything there. Most importantly, no one even told me that the appointment was scheduled in Royal Oak. No one even apologized. I work long hours and scheduled this appointment on my day off. So now I have found another office and I'm never coming back to the Rontal clinic. Thank you!

I have been a patient of the Rontal Akervall Clinic in Farmington Hills for over 10 years. I had previously been seen by Dr. Eugene Rontal and Dr. Jan Akervall. Dr. Akervall was excellent and was my preferred physician but began his own separate practice. It was my first visit to see Dr. Daniel Rontal today for three concerns. We discussed two concerns in a hurried manner.
The third concern of vertigo he refused to discuss and told me to make another appointment. He was unable to provide an adequate reason for making another appointment other than that's just the way we do things. I was probably in his exam room for about 10 minutes. I told him I would never return.

Dr. Yang did not listen to my concerns today. She basically went off of a checklist that she had and did check marks. She didn't explain anything in detail to me and wouldn't listen to what I have been experiencing the last few years. She contributed my re-occurring sinus infections to having a child at home. This is my 3rd child, not my 1st. 5 sinus infections in 5 months doesn't seem normal to me.
I was dismissed and am over the top dissatisfied. Oh, to top of it I have Acid Reflux? How, when, why? I've never been told this and never had any symptoms of this. That's another thing she failed to explain. She told me weight loss would be in my best interest. I'm 5'2 and 150lbs. I just had a baby and am NOT severely overweight.
It was embarrassing to have someone say that without explaining anything in further detail. Today was a waste of my time. I basically went looking for answers and received more band aids. If I could give this clinic a zero rating I would.

I would not recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a trustworthy Physician. I have been a patient of the Rontal Clinic for over 2 years. The Rontal Clinic (and their Physicians) unlawfully refused to release my medical records and medications to myself or my Physician for 3 weeks, preventing medical treatment for an ongoing condition. They also refused to provide treatment during this time period. It is important to note that this was a result of me transferring my care to another clinic, my bills are always paid-in-full in a timely manner.

Matthew Rontal is great Doc he see's my 2yr old who has a lot of issues & some unusual infections he's very thorough & shows genuine care and concern. He has done 2 surgeries on him so far & we feel safe in his care. My sister works in the hospital with him at Beaumont so they are friends so maybe we get slightly better care then most, but even if that's wasn't the case he is still very good. & his personality and calm demeanor puts u at easy. So if you're looking for a ears nose and throat doctor go see him.

Went to the office in Royal Oak. Was told I had to go there before I could go to the audiologist associated with their office in Farmington. I made an appointment to see Rontal and got kicked to another doctor, named Yang. She wanted to scope my nose. Can't imagine what that was going to cost. She started to do it without asking me or telling me.
I told her I didn't come here for that. I told her I came there to see the audiologist. There wasn't an appointment available when I got to the office, but there was 40 minutes earlier. Was told I would have to rebook. Yet, another co pay for nothing done. I called and left a message with Michael Rontal. He never returned my call. the new appointment made was cancelled. Not interested in being treated like a bouncing ball and being kicked around. I don't recommend dealing with this office. There are better physicians out there.

Went to him with horrendous inner ear pain. He told me, without looking IN my ear, that I had to see an allergist. I told him I had no allergy symptoms other than major inner ear pain. He said I could go to his associate tomorrow because his office HAD ALREADY CHARGED my insurance company before he even looked at me and that they will only pay his office once a day! I ended up goi g to another ENT who took care of me! He Used to be good, but NO MORE!

On the phone they were cheery, once I got there things changed, not so much as to warn me of what was coming in the exam room though. I had a simple sore throat that had no other symptoms. I talk, I get hoarse. I was seated in the exam room all within a reasonable time of arrival, They squirted a numbing agent up my nose and hung the scope on the wall.
My nose and throat were numb right away, but the doctor was nowhere in sight. After a half hour I felt it wearing off and said so to my wife waiting with me. 45 minutes in the numbing agent was nearly gone and the Scope hung collecting germs. 50-55 minutes. JUST as I was about to walk out he walks in. He does not introduce himself, from the picture I would guess Eugene. Eugene interviews me and argues with me about looking at my ear.
I mentioned I could not hear as well in my right ear and explained why. We talked about a hearing test. He mentioned the frequency of 250hz would be felt and not heard. THIS IS NONSENSE. The frequency is extremely audible. We argued to the point that I could not say everything I wanted to about my throat. He tried to Scope me one side didn't hurt much but the other side he got it hung up on something told me I had a deviated septum and called me a hard exam!
I wish I had told him if he was here an hour ago it wouldn't have been so hard. He saw nothing wrong with my throat. I waited an hour to have 10 minutes of arguing and a DRIVE BY DIAGNOSIS. I just cancelled and won't go back and will not recommend to anybody. I will not go back. I will find someone not so jaded by his profession that he has no time for patience.
Old doctors SUCK. They get set in their ways and tend not to keep up with the latest things. There phone system is a joke and will hang up on you of you don't have your numbers right or take too long to choose. Or they will tell you they are closed no matter what time of day it is. My billing agent barely speaks English. I can not understand her and she makes excuses for everything. She also doesn't want to know how upset I am because I have been calling and no one answers before the system hangs up on me. My complaints make her uncomfortable.

I love Dr. Michael, he has been the only doctor who has actually taken my chronic sinus problem and treated it instead of writing me a Rx and shuffling me out the door. After countless sinuses infections and countless appointments with other doctors who just wrote me off as another standard one. I was so relieved to hear him tell me I'm not crazy and that I actually do have a problem!
On a Sidenote: I am absolutely shocked to see the bad reviews of the office staff. They are always excellent for me! Every time I call for an "emergency" appointment they make sure to get me in. Usually for those I do have a long wait, but that's expected as they have squeezed me in. For my regularly scheduled appoints, those usually go quickly.
