I wish I could give it negative stars. I've been going to costal cardiology for years in templeton. They were always so great. I recently got switched to the Slo office because my doctor retired. Ive had my appointment canceled three times now. I never even made it past that waiting area. 2 times I drove from Paso and my apt was canceled in office.
The front office staff is the most incompetent staff I have ever dealt with. The girl with dark Brown hair that is on the left side of the reception area is THE RUDEST, nastiest, obnoxious office staff I have ever met! I will never go back and will tell everyone I know to stay away. I have no idea how the doctors are because like I said I never made it that far. They need a complete overhaul in the front.

I would prefer negative stars however, that option is unavailable. Phones are rarely answered. Usually, phones go right to a recording. If answered, it's a rude, surly, intimidating office staff member who wants to give you every reason he can to keep you away. When the required referrals are faxed over, they are somehow lost. So when our physician personally tried calling twice, to make a referral by phone they don't even bother to answer the physician line. This is just unacceptable, unprofessional, behaviour in a any medical practice, let alone a cardiologist practice where patients hearts are at risk.

If you get a referral from your doctor to come here, get another referral to go somewhere else. I've tried for MONTHS since my ER visit. You will call here to try making your new patient appointment only to be led straight to voicemail every single time. You will never reach a real human being. They will never, ever call you back regardless of how many voicemails you leave.
You can try visiting in person. But they'll claim they can't make appointments at the desk in-person. All they can say is that they'll make a note to give you a call soon. DO NOT BOTHER. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

DO NOT GO HERE. The staff, other than 2 people, are incredibly incompetent and rude. Zero bedside manner and the doctor is just as rude. Horrible experience. It's absolutely mind boggling that some of these people are able to maintain employment, although the general atmosphere is beyond unprofessional and unwelcoming. Seriously egregious. The "assistant"administering IV's, you are beyond unpleasant, unprofessional, and abrasive. What you taught me today is that toxic male masculinity continues. The misogyny is beyond deplorable.

Coastal Cardiology has an access problem: as other people have mentioned, answering machines that don't return calls, test results that are not communicated, etc. They are in great need of administrative overhaul. On the doctor level, they assign a doctor to you (I did not get to choose), and when my doctor left, they did not assign another one, even when ER called them and said I needed to see a doctor right away.
I was therefore left into the hands of a nurse practitioner who completely ignored my symptoms. Her attitude was: "your echocardiogram is good, therefore there is nothing wrong with you". When a new doctor was hired, I requested a Holter monitor (EKG monitor), and when the results came back with flat lines here and there, they rushed me to pacemaker surgery. I could go on and on about all the mistakes Coastal Cardiology made with me, and I would recommend that you go to a different city for treatment, if you can.

I've been a patient at Coastal Cardiology for ten years. I've always found the staff to be perfectly delightful. Aesthetically, it is the nicest medical office I've ever visited. Dr. Doria is terrific. A few years ago we determined that I needed a heart procedure. I was referred to Dr. David Canvasser for the surgery. After studying my own condition in depth -- no matter how well-intentioned, no doctor caring for dozens of patients has time to keep up with every new development in all of medicine; patients must take an active interest in directing their own care --I discovered a new surgical procedure had been developed to address the issue.
I brought the study to Dr. Doria and Dr. Canvasser. Both agreed that this technique appeared to be a better option. They referred me to a surgeon at UCLA (Dr. Richard Shemin) who had pioneered the new technique. I was very impressed that Dr.'s Doria and Canvasser listened to me, as a patient, took the new information into consideration, and then referred me on to UCLA.
This says to me that they put the patient's well-being ahead of their own egos, or referring business to themselves. Yes, they're a busy office. We have lots of elderly folks locally, and not enough cardiologists. But I think they do a bang-up job, given the pressures!

I saw Dr. Rageesh Pannikath. He had been called to the hospital earlier and I could also hear him giving advice to a resident or PA in the hall. He's very knowledgeable and had obviously had a long day (I was his last patient) but STILL took the time to listen to my concerns, review my past records and provide education for my condition. A very caring doctor. Bonnie the echo tech was amazing! She's also extremely caring and went above and beyond to get me taken care of and help me feel at ease. She's wonderful!

The staff at coastal cardiology is about as cold as it gets. You can leave a message to be contacted later, and pretty much never get a response back. The patient portal that they are so impressed by, my lab results were done two months ago and still have not been posted. There is no personal service once so ever! If you want to be treated like a number this is the place to go!

If only I could give this establishment negative stars. How have they managed to avoid a lawsuit thus far? The disgraceful manner in which you treated my mother is indicative of an impoverished view of your patients who rely upon you for their safety and welfare. My mother was recommended to Coastal Cardiology for a stress test, they put her on the treadmill, the treadmill HAS NO HANDRAILS, she doesn't walk that well so she asked them to slow it down, someone poked a button and THE TREADMILL SPED UP SO SHE FELL! NO.
Not cool. NO WAY. My poor mother was so upset when she told me the story this morning. There is no excuse for this kind of treatment of patients; it is tantamount to ELDER ABUSE. She could have broken a bone. She might have a fracture. She bled all over the treadmill and the carpet. They wrapped her in a cellophane bandage. WTH? Plastic wrap? You will go down. We will find a way and if we fail, your karma will soon find you. DO NOT GIVE THIS FACILITY YOUR SUPPORT. FIND ANOTHER PROVIDER.
