Our eye doctors are board certified ophthalmologists & eye specialists offering eye exams for cataracts, laser cataract surgery & lens implants (IOL), glaucoma, retina diseases and problems such as floaters, retinal detachment, age related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy, LASIK, help for lazy and crossed eyes, eye plastic surgery including facial rejuvenation with BOTOX & eyelid surgery and eyeglasses & contact lenses, an affiliate of Prism Vision Group.

Michael Alterman, D.O. is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist & Cataract Surgeon at Bethlehem Eye Associates serving the eastern Pennsylvania Lehigh Valley region including the Allentown, Bethlehem & Easton, PA-NJ metropolitan area. Dr. Alterman received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Michigan State University's St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Dr Alterman and his staff are excellent. Always a lot of people in the waiting room but other than that it was a great experience. My eye feels great and my vision is excellent after my cataract surgery a week ago. I highly recommend Dr Alterman for any issue your having. His straight forwardness and attitude are something you don't see too much today. He's excellent

One of the worst places to visit. On the day of seeing an eye doctor for my son, the front desk administrator told me their office contacted my insurance company and knew how much I owe them after my copayment and deductibles. When I argued that I usually pay my copayment on service date then pay the remaining balance, if any, after the claim is processed by the insurance company, they said, I won't be able to see the doctor unless I pay the full balance in advance.
After paying the full balance using my FSA card, I got an email from the FSA card issuer to verify the bill I paid at the doctor office. I submitted a copy of my doctor office bill receipt, however it was denied because the explanation of benefits from my insurance company showed that the doctor office overcharged me more than $55, and as a result my FSA card is not in good standing because of the overcharge.
When I contacted the doctor office to refund me the overcharge amount, I was told it will take up to 4 weeks to issue a refund as they proceed refunds once or twice a month only. Bottom line is, they are willing to overcharge the patient before seeing a doctor otherwise the patient won't see the doctor, then if they overcharged the patient they won't tell the patient unless the patient finds out, then it takes up to four weeks to issue a refund after the patient asks for it.

I came to Dr. Kitei in September with diplopia (double vision) following a brief spike in my blood pressure. Despite being very concerned, and scared for my prognosis, the doc was very caring, reassuring me it will improve and resolve in time. He ordered a few blood tests which confirmed all was good, and after 3 months I have improved about 50%, and getting better each week! I am so fortunate to have found him at this difficult time.thanks so much!

Please try to go somewhere else. I needed an annual exam to purchase more contact lenses. They didn't have my chart at the time of my appointment because it was getting digitized, so they didn't know my prescription or which contacts I ordered previously. After giving me a pair to try that unfortunately didn't work for me, I tried calling back as requested.
I left three voicemails and never received a call back. I even left a voicemail at their optical shop but no response. Other days, the line would be busy during normal hours. I went in person to try to order at the front desk. The staff was training on the computer and swatted through the window for me to leave. The next successful phone call informed me that my chart was lost for good.
I was finally given the opportunity to order the correct lenses. Weeks after the lenses arrived, I received a bill for them even though I was insured. It turns out when they took down my insurance information prior to the initial appointment, they neglected to tell me that my doctor didn't accept that insurance. I ended up being responsible for all costs.
It's unclear how so many people have success here. It was headache after headache with this office, and I will never be returning. The actual eye exam was the only acceptable part of this whole 3-month ordeal.

The staff is warm and receptive. The doctor I see is pleasant and willing to answer questions. However, if you do not have questions, he is fast and on the move! The vision center is GREAT. They are over-priced compared to the chains, but, for the first time in a decade, i was able to use the bifocals. Their manufacturing lab is a significantly higher quality.
