Health west has bizarre protocols that make it hard for the providers to provide you with the best care. They are always making me jump through hoops to get my basic prescriptions that I have taken every day for most of my life (albuterol). The providers I have seen were great but they are no longer there because of ridiculous health west protocols. I can't wait to switch to an office that cares about the patient and not just getting an encounter to bill to insurance.

My husband originally went to the HealthWest on 8th Street. I called and made the appointment for him since he was at work. When I called I told the receptionist the issues my husband had (at the time ear infection and joint pain). No one mentioned anything about an "acute appointment". All the receptionist said was "do you want to get in today or tomorrow?" Well, if he can get in that day, he'd want that.
So appointment was set. He and I both were glad because his appointment was with Logan Higbee. Logan is awesome! I highly recommend him. My husband gets to the appointment and the nurse informs him they are seeing him for an ear infection. My husband goes "and joint pain". She tells him no because it's an "acute appointment". Had I known that, I never would have set up the appointment!
I finally talk my husband into going to the Chubbuck clinic. He came here in August and told them his joints were bothering him. He was in pain and figured it was an easy fix. He said he DIDN'T want pain pills, but something to help his joints. Since his mom and my mom are both nurses (30+ years in the field each) they told him what to ask for. His BP was slightly elevated and my husband is overweight.
Like both our moms pointed out, BP goes up a little bit when you're in pain. That's all they focused on they did zero for his pain. They told him to go on a diet and it would help his pain. Not a huge surprise, it didn't help (though my husband was losing weight). My husband went to ANOTHER appointment two weeks later. He said he told the doctor he could barely walk or use his hands.
Still nothing was prescribed for him. He said the doctor saw a canker on the roof of his mouth that he didn't even know what there. The doctor (understandably) wanted to swab it. My husband said he went in with his joints throbbing and left with his joints still throbbing and a spot in his mouth hurting. He said when they went to swab it they were kind of rough.
It hurt for a week and a half. The mouth wash the doctor prescribed did nothing. The cankers actually started spreading. It took going to another clinic (wasn't a HealthWest clinic) to get something to help. They called and said they would be sending him to a rheumatologist (which as far as I know. No one has called my husband for an appointment and that was a week and a half ago).
The doctor FINALLY prescribed him something for his joints and it was well over a month since he went in to get something in the first place. I can see telling someone no if they wanted pain pills, but that was NOT what he was asking for. Ridiculous to do that to someone! Like my husband said, "they sure take the insurance card and co-pay, but leave their patients hanging".
I have lived in Idaho for 3 years now (not long I know), I have been a patient here, and recommended HealthWest to people. After this whole thing (and a couple other things that "left a bad taste in my mouth"), I sure don't want to go back.

I do NOT recommended this clinic or its providers I had 10 appts there & was only seen for 4 of those. You can tell by all my cancelled appointments that they did NOT value my time. The PA Kelly and her nurse Kami are absolutely horrible to work with. Rhonda the PA in walk in quick help was completely useless and unhelpful. She did nothing for me & gave me no advice.
A literal waste of time. Don't go to health West unless you want to die. I will be filing formal complaints. Called the number in the response. Left a formal complaint that was a waste of time too. I really think the overall review average can speak for itself.

Front staff are quite friendly and helpful. However, they are quite incompetent in providing definite answers about certain questions. Walk-ins are not welcomed. Simple non-urgent issues are not a priority and most likely forces you to schedule an appointment. Not only that, they do not provide feedback or call to provide lab results. Have not even signed a disclosure over the phone, but CMA left a message disclosing personal test results. Whenever, I try to reach back calling CMA extension no one answers phone.
A FNP that works there was absolutely judgemental when she asked where I lived, and proceed to give a negative judgemental remark. Moreover, the same FNP was hesitant to run a basic titer(MMR, DTP, and Hep B) that I needed for my employment. Consistently asked me 3-4 times about what it is for and which titers I needed. Very hesitant, but finally put in the order.
Only to come and find the results of the titer did not include two of the three important titers. Results of my titer is completely useless and does not provided any lab results that is needed. Communication between staff is terrible as well. I absolutely regret stepping into this facility. Each time my visit there was always an issue, and none of the health care providers care for the patients.
Health care providers and other medical staff are all so rushed. They show up past appointment time, barely listens, and then sends you off quickly. I would much rather go somewhere else, and pay a lot of out of pocket than to ever step foot in this place even if my insurance covered it. If less than one stars was a possibility, it would be the most accurate description of the service I have encountered at this place.
I did not know any better. My choice for any health care services would be to either of the Physicians Immediate care in town, not here. At least Physicians Immediate know, how to get any job done and properly without any judgements or hesitation.

Talk about incompetence. If I could give this place a 0 I would. I've tried to get a prescription refilled and all they've done is sit on their hands. It's always ridiculous trying to get them to do anything. Luckily we will be switching healthcare providers since Brandi has misdiagnosed my family multiple times. Don't go here ever. It's not worth the headache. I would drive to the Heath west clinic in Soda Springs if it meant avoiding the one in Chubbuck.

I love coming here the receptionist are always welcoming, professional, and super nice. It's great to come into a doctors office and they know me by name. Brandi is my doctor and I will not willingly see anyone else she's always willing to listen and go out of her way to help me and work around my crazy schedule as a truck driver. Her assistant zack is the sweetest I hope he never leaves he's always so fun to talk to I could talk to him for hours! Shannon is a wonderful counselor he really listens and he's helped me come to a better place in my life. Healthwest doesn't mind if you can't pay right now they will still treat you with the up most respect and courteous. I won't go to another doctor office with these guys here. I highly recommend this place to other people looking they have everything from dentist to doctors to councilors.

Brandi Karroum is a fantastic physician. She is so kind and caring. I have never had a doctor make me feel comfortable and cared about before going to her. She has been honest and straight forward with me without making me feel bad. Every time I have visited, and I have a chronic condition so I go a lot, she has treated me with respect and been very transparent.
The rest of the staff is also very kind and more than happy to assist. My only complaint is that sometimes the nursing staff lacks follow through. On a couple of occasions I was told I would get a call back to follow up on something and I didn't. I know they get busy, and it wasn't anything serious and if they could work on that, it would make them even more successful in my eyes.
