A cataract is a cloudiness of the lens inside your eye. It develops as a normal part of the aging process, usually beginning in your fifties and slowly progresses with time. Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve - the part of the eye that carries the images we see to the brain. Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness in the United States, especially for older people.

My doctor put a referral for me to go to this office. I called several times to make an appointment. Each time they told me they had not received the fax. I asked my medical group to resend the fax. They still didn't receive it. Finally they told me that they had changed their fax number and I needed to give their new fax number to my medical group. (Providence) If this would have happened in 1982 it would have been bad. In 2022 there are no words.

This is about the office on Second Street. While the doctors are adequate, the front office staff is the worst I've ever experienced. I have been a patient here for over five years, and the rude and incompetent service they provide has been consistently bad. They do not listen carefully to figure out what is needed to assist you. They do not take and forward messages correctly.
They seem to want to make the least possible effort to do their jobs. There are a lot of very good ophthalmologists and opticians in the Santa Rosa area. Why go to a place where you won't be treated competently and with respect?

Easy to schedule an appointment. Copay if any, is due at time of visit. The MA that helped me was Jamie, she was very fast and efficient. I wasn't able to see that well after appointment, but went over to optical to pick out frames. Process was so easy! I called over the phone to pay since forgot checkbook at home. They have been good each time. 7-10 business day turn around time for frames. I saw Dr. Abramson, he was fast and efficient.

First it took a while to get an appointment but then whenever I call the office no one typically answers. I canceled that appointment and then today I get a text to set up another appointment of which I have never had a first appointment here. I think this place is expanding too fast and they are not accounting for all of the patients they have. I have chosen not to be a patient here.

Wow! I completely understand that a lot of businesses are suffering due to the lack of employees, but that doesn't mean that you treat your clients any differently. It's not our fault that things are suffering. I came in for my annual visit and the tech was either having a bad day or frustrated at something. Her attitude and demeanor was as if I was wasting her time.
She didn't welcome me when she called my name. She was very robotic and on some level quite cold. When I couldn't keep my eyes open for one of the tests she let me know in her actions that I irritated her. If I treated my students as she treated me I wouldn't last very long in my position. The Dr has the same non existing bedside manner.
There is no warmth when he speaks to you. I don't mind a doctor getting straight to the point and not hiding behind a bush, I actually appreciate that but it's all in the way you deliver the message that counts. I couldn't wait to leave the office and be done with my appointment. I will probably be looking for a new eye doctor.

Very disappointed that they did not let us know that my 85 year old mother's appointment would be 2 hours long. She waited and it was bad all the way around. They were overbooked and zero communication. I am removing another star and if I could I would remove all stars I would. STAY AWAY this place not only put my mother through an excessively long appointment, when her Rheumatologist called to get the results of the test they said they had not performed it. CRAZY. This place used to be privately owned now it is not and it shows. Never will go back

Didn't trust the technician that did 90% of the visit before the Dr even saw me. She didn't know why she was doing some of the tests, then she was the one doing the fine tuning for my RX? 100% don't trust my new prescription and am going to find a different Dr. Wish I could get a refund on an exam- but they can keep all the insurance money if I never have to go there again. They can spend it on training their staff.

They got one star for answering the phone. Their webpage says they're open at 8:00 am, NOT! They open at 8:30 instead. I got a referral from my GP to immediately see an ophthalmologist due to my scratching my eye. It's swollen. The best they could do is see me in 3 weeks! I clarified my immediate need, and they didn't budge. Heartless!

Too much red tape. They do not listen, even to requests for them to xorrect grievous mistakes. Technician did vision exam and doctor signed off on it without checking vision. I kept telling technician I can't see letters through lenses she was using. She kept saying it was alright. Before getting glasses I went to their Santa Rosa location to try to get another vision check before getting glasses.
No matter how I explained myself, they would not accommodate me. I would have to get another appointment with same doctor several months later. WHAT A HACK! I went somewhere else to get another check and glasses. Am so happy with glasses I got elsewhere. I see clearly and sharply. And when I had ECI's RX compared, IT WAS SO COMPLETELY OFF! CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I had cataract surgery in my right eye yesterday, August 5, 2021. Dr. Lillian Yang performed the procedure. I went into the surgery well-informed, but with trepidation nonetheless. The IV sedation was a fear of mine, based on past experience. Upon my request, the nurse, Lynn, used a numbing agent (lidocaine) prior to setting the IV, and it was practically painless.
The surgery was comfortable and swift. No discomfort, whatsoever. I was in-and-out within 90 minutes, including check-in, IV, surgery and post-surgery recovery. This morning, I woke up to a bright new world. Since my left eye will not undergo cataract surgery until next week, I had a great comparison between the cataract-free right eye and the still cataract-clouded left eye.
What a difference! While one can expect some post-operative glare for a few days to come, I suddenly realized that the beautiful markings on my Beagle mix "Carson" are NOT charcoal, gray and coffee-brown. Instead, his markings are a shiny black, bright-white, and a rich tan. I thought the colors of the hibiscus in our backyard to be an amber yellow and a pale rose color. Instead, they are of an intense yellow and a rich red.
I can barely wait to have my left eye surgically cleared of the clouded lens to once again see this bright, beautiful world around me as it truly is. This review would not be complete without some special kudos regarding the staff at Santa Rosa's Eye Care Institute. First and foremost, Dr. Lillian Yang is 100% trust-inspiring, superbly qualified, and just all-around lovely.
As an academic, I give her an A+. A special thumbs-up goes to the wonderful nurse, Lynn, who so competently placed my IV (would you kindly do the same for me next week, Lynn?). And then there was Dr. Darin Brunson, the anesthesiologist who monitored my vital signs. He had a comforting and kind presence (something I clearly sensed despite the temporary, pleasant "fog" that I was experiencing). Also, a young lady (nurse?) by the name of Natasha who called me from the surgery center at my home prior to the procedure -- and then spoke with me again yesterday while I was prepped for surgery -- is so warm and professional. Finally, at today's post-op appointment with Dr. Yang I had the pleasure of meeting Carrie Issel.
She is smart, thoroughly professional, and a genuinely nice human being to boot. In summary, if you need any sort of eye care -- especially eye surgery -- you can choose Eye Care Institute and its professional staff with utmost confidence.

While the Doctors and /or optometrists might be fine - the office staff is terrible. I was not happy to have to wait outside in the hot sun today while my husband had an appointment because their Covid policy is that you can't come in unless you are a patient. It' is May and we've had vaccines are wearing masks - seemed over the top. We've been to all of our other doctors and their waiting rooms are not using that policy. Not the level of service I want. Plus hate their office - sort of grubby.

Waited 45 min. in waiting room. Then was checked by nurse. Then waited 35 min. for doctor. She was about as interested in me as though she were a grocery checker checking out a broccoli. Maybe she was a good ophthalmologist--how would I know? Nobody ever apologized for the wait (which is customary here). Somehow I have the delusion that my time is as valuable as a doctor's.

I have been using the Eye Care Institute for my eye care needs over the last 5 years. I am able to easily and quickly make appointments and I have found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The Doctors and assistants are very professional and will go the extra mile to help complete eye evaluations / tests, answer your questions, and provide recommendations. I highly recommend the Eye Care Institute for all of your eye care needs.

Good doctors. Bad office management. I called with a question about a refill for shingles medication. They never called me back with an answer even though I called back the next day to inquire. When I saw my doctor a week later and asked her about it she said that a tech had called me back with a reply and had signed off on doing it. But I never got a call or text and was left not knowing what to do and missed 5 days of not medicating my eye.
I hope that tech was reprimanded and corrected. Gone are the days of single doctor practices. Here are the days of incompetent staff and poor communication. Another time traffic caused me to be 15 minutes late. I called on my way to their office and was told I could not be seen if I was 15 minutes late. I was rescheduled for one month later! One month, really! Someone should look into the competency of their office manager. If you're going to do a group practice you must be on top of your staff.

I am a patient of Dr Nina Ni. She is a great diagnostician, a good human, and we share "coming from the East Coast." The reason for this review is for her staff in Petaluma. On the phone or in person they are a TREAT to deal with. I get the appointments I want, they follow up other people outside of their office to get me information or appointments I need. Kudos to the staff! I'm guessing the Dr Nina being an outstanding performer and a good human has attracted similar folks to work on staff. Thanks to all!

This eye care office is the best I have experienced. The equipment is calibrated daily. Each technician was caring and thorough. The technician who gave the majority of the tests, Dan, was exceptional. Dr Robert Anderson was also the best eye doctor I have seen in years. He evaluated the results carefully and gave me his opinion regarding my vision needs.
If you want honest, accurate information on the health of your eyes, this is the doctor to see. He was referred by Best Doctors as part of their consultation service. I had seem two specialists in San Francisco whose offices were packed with patients, unhappy staff, uncalibrated equipment, and misdiagnosed my vision which would have lead to unnecessary surgeries. Thank you Dr. Anderson and staff! You get.an A+ from this teacher.

I am a new patient but was very impressed with Dr. Ni. She listened carefully to my history and current situation, evaluated past medical reports that I brought in and took time to explain everything clearly and thoroughly and in a friendly and caring manner. It meant a lot to me because I went in very confused about another doctor's diagnosis. I left relieved and at peace when I left. I highly recommend this doctor and this practice.

The technician was very thorough and efficient in checking my eyesight explaining to me at every step what she was doing and why. Dr Yang was also engaging and explaining what and why she was doing something. I was in and out of office in under an hour which included time for my eyes to dilate. All in all a good appointment

The Eye Care Institute iin Santa Rosa, CA is a wonderful place to go for yearly eye exams and eye issues. The staff at the 2nd street office and the 4th street surgery center are wonderful. Dr. Lillian Yang was my physician who took care of my cataracts and fixed my distance vision issues. I chose to have laser surgery. My vision has so much improved, and I can finally drive at night time again. The lights no longer bother me. There are a lot of eye physician at this place. You won't be disappointed.

Reception staff and doctors assistant was wonderful, gracious, very professional and personable. Aside for the 30 minute wait while my eyes were dilating the experience was good. The doctor was professional and gracious. She listened to my concerns and addressed my special requirements. Overall very happy with staff and services.

My husband had cataract surgery here and it went very well. So we put our faith in them and my husband went and ordered glasses. He was unfamiliar with pricing due to another medical condition and I was unable to accompany him to order the glasses due to a death in the family. He recalled being told he had 24 hours to cancel. When he got home he showed me a picture of non designer frames with simple transitional lenses.
Nothing fancy $755.00. He called next morning at 9am (glasses were ordered at 4pm day prior) to ask them to hold the order till the end of the day so that we could make some choices. We were told you only have till the end of the day that the glasses were ordered to make changes. That gave us a 1 hour window. Please be advised that you have many choices when ordering glasses. Thank you
