Bunions are misaligned big toe joints that can become swollen and tender, causing the first joint of the big toe to slant outward, and the second joint to angle toward the other toes. With a diabetic foot, a wound as small as a blister from wearing a shoe that's too tight can cause a lot of damage.
Diabetes decreases blood flow, so injuries are slow to heal. Plantar fasciitis (or heel pain) is commonly traced to an inflammation on the bottom of the foot. Our practice can evaluate arch pain, and may prescribe customized shoe inserts called orthoses to help alleviate the pain.

After nearly two weeks of pain from an injury I realized I need to see a doctor as it was affecting my work. They were able to fit me in that day. Very quick to get me x rayed. Dr. Evan Baker found I had a fracture and I was given a treatment plan. All members of the faculty were fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Baker was fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable and a good listener. Thank you everyone at the clinic for your help!

My daughter was postponing treatment for an ingrown toenail because her treatment at foot and ankle specialist on gulf freeway was so painful. Dr. Canlas at SOuTH TEXAS FOOT SPECIALIST was so wonderful that she smiled and chatted through whole procedure! He was very patient slowly administered pain injection so, that the medication could do it's job and there was no pain during the shots or the procedure. I can not recommend him enough and am so thankful she is his patient!

The other doctor (not Baxter) kept my husband waiting over an hour each time for two different appointments. The first time, my husband left and never even saw him. When I called back to reschedule another appt. (why?!?), he could not be seen again for a week bc this other doctor (an Indian guy, don't know his name) is only in on Fridays. So it has taken over a month to get a $500 orthotic for tendonitis, and it doesn't even look like it's high enough to do any good.
When I called and asked why my husband had to wait for an hour, I was told that this doctor takes a long time with patients -- but he only took 5 minutes with my husband. Totally ridiculous! What a complete waste of time and money. They just lost two patients. You have been warned.

Dr. Evan Bridges is very professional, attentive listener and provided me expert care for my problem. I have been to many podiatrists over the years and he was exemplary. This was my first orthopedic surgery and it went very well. Dr. Evans and the staff at South Texas Foot specialist work very well as a team. The post op care was seamless. In addition, I never experienced any delays at the office. If anything I was taken in early. I highly recommend Dr. Bridges.

Dr. Baxter is absolutely the best! I had a puncture wound and a foreign object in my foot. I went to an Urgent Care Center and a different doctor and neither could find the root of the problem (the foreign object) nor properly understand the reaction foot was displaying (I'll spare the details for the review - its was ugly). Dr. Baxter confidently assessed my situation (knowing it had now been weeks since the initial injury), cleaned the area, and was able to locate the foreign object.
He clearly defined and detailed the healing process for me and was available at any time I had questions or concerns. He was able to assist me at a time no one else could. I highly recommend both him and his services and I will forever be a patient! Thank you Dr. Baxter!

For starters, Doctors are great! I've seen Dr. Sands and Dr. Bridges. Both awesome. Wait time not awesome but I'll be optimistic and choose to believe that their attention to patient care is the reason wait time can be longer than anticipated which is a positive! Appointment at 10am, arrived at 9:52am, this is a follow up check, . still in waiting room 10:23.seated 10:35. Dr in the room at 10:45 and done and in my truck at 10:51. 6 minutes with Dr. and scheduling next appointment. Pet peeve, dislike the "don't tap on glass" in front of the frosted glass at reception. It's not very welcoming. :

I had a very good experience here with Dr Sands. He diagnosed my condition, game me a shot and ordered orthotic insoles. It took several weeks but my foot got back to normal. I love the orthotics and ordered a second set for my dress shoes. My only complaint is that on two different occasions I paid my bill and was told that I was my balance was paid in full, only to receive a bill a few weeks later showing I still had a balance due. The last bill showed I owed exactly $100, which made me think it was a billing error. I would use Dr Sands again if other issues arise.

It is almost a year after my foot surgery, and I am still in pain. When I told the doctor he shrugged his shoulders and left. I felt no support or any attempt to fix the problem. Terrible follow up, or should I say no follow up. I wasn't told what my limitations would be until AFTER the surgery. I hope Dr. Bridges learned something. Unfortunately it was at my expense.

I love Dr Baxter and the staff here. I started treatment for chronic foot pain at another local facility. That doctor wanted to perform unnecessary surgery by breaking a perfectly good bone and resetting it. He was always rushing through my appointments. He did not give me time to ask questions. So, I went to Dr Baxter for a second opinion. He ordered an MRI which showed a neuroma and he is currently doing a series of injections which are working after the second injection.
I have relief and getting back to life without foot pain. Best thing is no unnecessary surgery. I have always been acknowledged by the staff when checking in and have never waited more than five minutes in the lobby area. I have been able to make and change appointments with ease. The facility is clean and state of the art. All of the staff is friendly and courteous. Dr Baxter is an amazing doctor.
He takes his time to listen to your concerns and answer questions thoroughly. He does not rush through appointments at all. He will explain all possible treatment options and what he suggests the treatment plan should be but ultimately let's you decide on the best option for you. I would highly recommend Dr Baxter to anyone.

I needed to have bunions removed from both feet. I had a lot of anxiety about the procedures, but I chose Dr Baxter because he and his nurse, Rebecca, eased my worries from the first meeting. They answered all my questions and reassured me through every step of the process. Dr. Baxter and his staff are an absolute delight. The ladies in the office are always very friendly, warm and welcoming. Dr. Baxter is an exemplary podiatrist and I recommend him to everyone I speak to.
