Services
At The Neurology Center, our physicians provide detailed medical evaluations after one has experienced a head injury. Our evaluations include: obtaining a detailed history, review of medical records, and physical examination (e.g., cognitive screening, SCAT3 testing, ImPACT testing). Our goal is to ensure that the patient's medical needs are addressed properly.
We have a team of neurologists, advanced practitioners and clinical neuropsychologists to thoroughly evaluate and treat a variety of memory and cognitive disorders e.g. Our neurologists, including Dr. Jacob Hall, Dr. Abigail Lawler, and Dr. Irene Oh, are dedicated to identifying early signs of memory loss/dementia.
The Neurology Center offers outpatient and inpatient services for patients with epilepsy. Dr. Bilal Choudry and Dr. Tracy Wang perform consultations and a variety of diagnostic techniques that include EEG, ambulatory EEG and inpatient EEG-video monitoring. The information obtained from these studies can help outline an individualized treatment plan for you.
If you answered yes, you may have chronic migraine. Our goal is to provide excellent, comprehensive headache care. The best way to manage migraine headaches is with preventative treatment in combination with abortive medication. The Neurology Center is staffed by neurologists that are all Board Certified in Headache Medicine including: Dr. Andrew Blumenfeld, Dr. Alise Pham, and Dr. Jack Schim. In addition, the clinic is staffed by advanced practitioners who work closely with our physicians as a part of our headache team.
Our board-certified sleep specialist, Dr. Kinjal Madhav, consults with you regarding your particular sleep problems and interprets the data gathered from sleep studies administered by highly-trained technologists at our Carlsbad, California facility. She takes this information and develops a personalized treatment plan in collaboration with you.

Where to start?! Well, lets see, multiple times the staff has given the wrong appointment date, then the soonest available to replace it was a month out! Not just once or twice, but in fact 3 separate times this has happened. Good luck getting someone to talk to, usual wait time on hold seems to be 30 minutes plus, and most of those conversations requires them to "check something and call you back" which they never do.
Staff told us directly "We were going to call you back, but it didn't matter" As far as the doctors go, if you can ever see one, they have been good. Don't expect anything to be easy if you have to deal with the office staff. You'll have better luck at the DMV, with pretty much anything.

Our experience with the doctors have always been fine, but the staff is very rude. They are always seeking money. They threatened to cancel my husband's follow up, after a stroke, appointment if we didn't pay his balance that was due. They refused to discuss payment options with him. The first time the front desk said they would not see us unless we paid 90% of the balance.
This was in October and we had just gotten the bill, with a due date of November 7th. No one should ever feel this way about a visit to a doctor. They should really reconsider some of their staff choices. Maybe consider more training. Or get rid of some of the people.

I have been a patient for many years now. At this moment I have waited on hold for 34 minutes to ask where my Emgality prescription was called in. I tried leaving a message to have the office call back, but the line says goodbye and hangs up at the end. Does not let you leave a message. I wish this were unusual. This is a fine group of doctors and a wonderful, convenient facility. However, if there is the smallest complication that requires a phone call, the process is entirely unacceptable.
When I am able to get to the machine, the recording tells me to leave a message that will be returned in 24-48 hours. That alone is an unreasonable wait at a medical office. But it goes on to say that if the call is not returned, call a supervisor. That is very low bar for staff performance. Why is it expected enough that the call won't be returned that an escalation path is provided for the patient?
I have never had a call returned I left on that line. I have discussed the difficulty with several doctors during visits. Everyone sort of shrugs and says they get that all the time. Last visit was particularly challenging. I arrived and waited in a line 4 people deep. I got to the front and was thanked for my patience. After the regular insurance questions, dob, etc, the person mentioned she would have to call to see if they would still take me.
I asked why and was told it was because my appt was at 11:45. It was a couple minutes before 12. I asked what the window was as she said 8 minutes. I was on time for my appointment. I waited in line as the 8 minute grace period ended. This is after a stunningly disrespectful time I spent on hold to get an appointment. I then waited for an entire hour to see the doctor.
The patients time is not respected. The public reviews of the Neurology Center are unflattering and well earned. Allow me to restate that the doctors are wonderful. The office and parking are perfect. The administration is abysmal. I have now waited for one hour and fifteen minutes. I can't do this anymore and will be trying a new neurologist.

This place is a circus. You'll have to wait for your doctor possibly for hours after your scheduled time, or they'll cancel your appointment without telling you why and when you ask why, they won't know. The billing department sucks too! Good luck dealing with them. Trust me, don't waste your time. Go somewhere else

I called someone to set up a neurology appointment. They said they'd call me back and never did. I don't even think the guy made a note of it, he just hung up and left. He was very rude because I did not have an insurance card. I am a military dependent. I was also told by my nurse at my primary care hospital to direct any insurance questions to her, which I did.
Now it has been weeks and still no call. So I will be calling back today. I hope I don't get that guy on the line again though, that was a -1/10 experience. Even my family was shocked at his attitude. Update: I was contacted by someone much kinder. She helped me set up an appointment with the appropriate doctor and put me on the waitlist for cancellations.
The issues I was having seem to be a result of poor phone connectivity, and simply that one guy that picked up my call a few weeks ago. Please note, I do not have any clue who I spoke to in either phone call, and my experience during this time is also likely a result of COVID-19 causing high call volumes. I understand that everyone has bad days, however treating patients poorly over the phone is never acceptable.

Dr. Lawler when I spoke to her was proactive in helping with my debilitating migranes and booking a further MRI. She referred me to Dr. Pham who was also very helpful. However I was called by an apologetic assistant who said she was not in my insurance network and rebooked me two weeks out. She said someone would call me about my MRI results and I was told that my Brain Damage at 30 years old was not serious enough to be seen.
When looking online for sooner appointments I saw ample openings with other doctors. I will keep my appointment with the Nurse Assistant, but I do not appreciate the staffs treatment, especially when there are openings sooner, which I did ask if there were any closer to when my original appointment was. Being lied to by staff is not a good look for the office.
I hope come time my next appointment I can at least get the information I need to move forward with my life and address my very serious, life altering health concern appropriately.

Dr. Lawler is by far the best neurologist & one of the best MDs I have ever taken my family member to. Aside from her superlative clinical skills, she is also truly compassionate & cares for her patients' overall wellbeing; offering advice and assistance beyond her scope of practice. I would rate Dr. Lawler ten stars if I could! Unfortunately, however, the insurance referral staff at this office do not seem to always understand doctor's orders and have been slow to respond. Thus the 4-star review for the medical office in general.

This Nuerology Center does not deserve any stars! First of all, it is very hard to get an appointment with the doctors within reasonable time. They say they are extremely booked all the time and don't have flexibility in their schedules. Ok, you would think they are good doctors with that being the case. Well to my surprise, the neurologists that work here are very rude, inconsiderate, & unprofessional!
I've had very unpleasant experiences with Dr. Modhav! Dr. Modhav does not have any bedside manners and is awefully rude! I do not recommend her to anyone! She may seem nice at first but she is quick to talk over her patients, interrupt them when they are talking or asking questions, and makes it a point to scold them without taking any consideration of the patient! Dr. Madhav is an awful doctor, do not waste your time!
She doesn't provide appropriate care! My grandma had set an appointment with her and I told her to cancel! She is a terrible doctor! I'm not one to talk bad or post a negative review but I just couldn't hold back! I felt it was important to share with others and warn against this terrible doctor!
