All patients entering our clinics will be REQUIRED to wear a face mask (disposable/cloth/homemade). At Olathe Family Vision, each member of our vision care team is selected by Dr. Wayne R. Hemphill based upon his or her experience, professional demeanor, and dedication to providing personalized care to our optometry patients. Our entire Olathe optometry staff is committed to ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of each and every patient.
Dr. Wayne Hemphill founded Olathe Family Vision in 1989. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Eye Care Council and College of Optometrist in Vision Development. He is also a member of the Kansas Optometric Association, serving as President for 2016-17. He has lectured throughout the area on vision and learning as well as pediatric optometry.
We understand that your time is precious and that you need an optometrist who is professional, yet convenient for your lifestyle. In order to make the transition to our office smoother for you, we have created a New Patient Center with everything you need to get started. I can not say ENOUGH about Dr. Wayne. He is just first rate. We have used him for all our eye needs. From the kids who just get annual visits with 20/20 Vision, to myself needing first time reading glasses in my 40's, to all things Vision Therapy. We moved here from Colorado where Vision Therapy was quite common and many offices were licensed in it and a number of my friends availed themselves and their children to the unique training and quality Vision therapy brings to the learning table. Dr. Wayne was the first office (and one of the only offices) I found in the greater Kansas City area 7 years ago and we've never looked elsewhere.
His rapport with Children is wonderful. He's articulate and well educated. He makes a person feel quite at ease. Anxiety to new situations can be a thing in my home. I am super grateful for his expert care and his gentle attention to detail. Highly recommend him and his office!

I recently went to this office for my routine eye exam. I essentially have 20/20 vision and only visit to check my overall eye heath AND because I get the annual eye exam free as a part of my health benefits. When I checked in, the receptionist asked for both my health card and my vision card--which I provided. At check out, the receptionist informed me I owed them a $10 co-pay to which I responded "No, according to your insurance, this is not a covered service.
You owe us $10." And she very rudely shoved a piece of paper in my face with $10 highlighted in purple. I paid the $10 and went back to my office and contacted my internal human resources to see why we're now being charged for something that should've/always was free.to my surprise IS covered on our plan and the office didn't file it with my health insurance but instead filed it with the vision.
Totally understandable error--so I thought! I immediately called the office back and got an answering machine, so I left a message thinking someone would call me back. NOPE. No return call. So, I call again! Leslie answers the phone and was the same person who shoved the paper in my face.rudely rebuffing the claim they didn't file correctly and then said "Well, we're not a part of your network! You're with First Health!" (Which I am not.) I attempted to clarify that is only for outside the state of Kansas and like a poorly programmed robot, Leslie had zero desire to hear anything other than "NO NO NO NO NO." I ended the call with "Ok, I guess I'll call my insurance and check with them, but I am positive it's not that network and you are in network." Less than 3 minutes later I get off the phone with the insurance to find out they ARE in network, according to the insurance company, and NO Olathe Family Vision did not attempt to file this with insurance because it would've been covered at a $0 cost.
Once more, I call back, and Chanel answers the phone. She played a game of telephone between myself and Leslie--where Leslie insisted I am in the First Health network (*spoiler alert, * still not in that network, regardless of what she wants to think). Chanel says "We need to talk to someone else who handles our insurance, Leslie says we're not in that network either. We'll call you back." So here I am, still out the $10.
Clock still ticking on the amount of calls and time I've invested to try and get someone to respond. Just avoid this small rinky-dink office and try somewhere else! It's not worth the headache.

I came in to have my daughters eye sight checked out. I knew my kids just wanted to wear glasses for fashion. however, I still took them in. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. we got in and out no problem. my daughters passed the test and we just recently did what they recommended, and bought fake fashion glasses! thanks a bunch! please pick us for the easter baskets!

We saw Dr. Hemphill and the Vision Therapist. The testing was extensive and utilized many modalities to accurately access what was going on. Not only were they very kind to me and my son, they were exceedingly thorough and knowledgeable. They did a great job of working with my son who is struggling with focusing and tracking, as a result, reading is very challenging.
Not only did they offer a lot of hope but they navigated the fact that he was nervous and a bit embarrassed by his inability to read well, very nicely. They helped him realize what his eyes and brain were doing were not in his control but there were exercises and techniques that could help him. He left very buoyed for the first time in years. I anticipate getting a detailed write up in the mail with suggestions on how to proceed. Can not recommend them enough!

I went here because they gave me 20% off as a deal since I didn't have any vision insurance. They had the best rates in town for a contact exam. The ladies at the front desk got me signed in and in a little ahead of my schedules appointment. I saw Dr. Melissa Hahn. She was friendly and gave me several free samples of eye drops and contact solution. She took time to answer my questions, not hurrying me at all. This week I ordered my contacts and their pricing was competitive with 1-800contacts. Overall it was a good experience and I scheduled an appointment for my husband.

Dr. Hahn, as well as the receptionist (I can't believe I forgot her name) are very kind. They are very informative and make sure you get everything answered or explained that you need, and treat you like family. Both my mother and I went to this eye doctor and they would always ask her how I was and me how she was. It's great eye care provided by people who genuinely care about you as a person.
