Very poor experience with covid and will refuse to give you a covid test if your second test from home was questionable, your getting paid to help people not question them and tell them no of anything, I would recommend Urgent care or children Devos hospital not Mercy or Ottawa.

Just collected my daughter from the ER here where she was placed in a room for 2 hours calling for help with no response dealing with a hernia. Arrived and took her to Muskegon ER, got her right in, they are working on her now. Guess we can see the quality of care one will receive at North Ottawa.

I was recommended by the urgent care in Grand Haven to take my 1 year old son to the ER due to their xray machine being down. Once I got to the ER the receptionist was in sweats, and had no customer service experience. The nurses were very rude to my son through the 4 hours we were there. They showed no patience or bedside manner. Never once offered me or my son a water.

They seemed slow that day as the majority of the ER staff stood in the hallway out by the doors and chatted about their life's while my son cried in pain for an hour. The doctor only showed up once and that was to tell me that they don't have a reason as to why my son is still sick after 10 days and just to continue the care I was providing before I took him to the ER. It was a waist of time going to the Grand Haven ER. I highly recommend not going here to get care for you or any family members.

I've been here well over an hour now amd im literally the only patient they have in the emergency room atm. Sat in the waiting room for over 20 mins. The nurse had to take a call while checking me into the triage area. That took 20 mins. Got back to a room, told to change into a gown and that she would be back with a blanket. It's been over 15 mins and no blanket, no staff.nothing. Can't breathe and I'm having chest pains but ya know.guess it's not emergent enough to take away from the staffs paid personal time at their job. Do better North Ottawa!

This place is HORRIBLE. Would not recommend going here, unless you're deathly ill. Had chest pains, went to Urgent Care, they found nothing wrong so got sent to the "ER" and waited 4 hours for them to do "some tests" and also found NOTHING. They said to take ibuprofen a few times a day. FOUR HOURS and spoke to a person for maybe 30 minutes total and they charged almost $1,700.

For what?!?! $980 for just GOING to the ER? $200 charge for "other". I'd expect to pay that much if they actually DID anything but they didn't. I got charged for sitting in a room for 4 hours.

If I was driving with a gunshot wound I would rather drive to the next hospital than come back here. I stopped in for a basic ER visit, then got my bill a couple weeks later. I sat unattended for 2.5/3 hours and was charged for all 3. The lab testing was charged separately then I had an "Emergency Room" charge separately on top of that for almost a thousand dollars (after insurance).

I called and asked what that entailed and the rep said "that's for walking in the door, it pays to keep the lights on and things like that". I spoke to the doctor for about 30 seconds, he asked me 3 questions then said "I'm not sure, try taking ibuprofen and come back if it persists" then charged $460 for a physician bill. All in all I was charged over $1700 after insurance and judging by the comments, I'm not the only one.

You can call every department and they'll give you the run-around. I'm sure they'll reply to this review and refer me to patient services, but I've already talked them and they just try to counsel you into feeling better about being overcharged. Don't expect any form of resolution, just simply don't walk in the door.

I have never been treated so horribly in my life. I went to the ER for severe abdominal pain. I was alone in the waiting room crying in pain when the nurse came out and told me that I was being too loud and needed to quiet down or leave, so I left. I went outside and called 911. The nurse followed me out and took my phone from me and asked for an officer to be sent, then dropped my phone on the pavement and broke it.

My sister came and picked me up and brought me to another hospital where I wasn't even sent to the waiting room. They brought me back and admitted me immediately. I ended up needing emergency surgery.

My 90 year old Mother was brought here after falling. They took X-rays and sent her home with a sling without mobilization. My poor Mother suffered the most intense pain due to the hospitals lack of initial care. It was necessary for her to undergo surgery to have a plate & screws. Shame on u that took care of her! Unfortunately this isn't the first issue with North Ottawa.

My Grandson suffered a ankle injury playing soccer. Again they took X-rays and sent him home. His ankle was actually broken My Daughter has a history of blood clots which we informed the ED. They never even bothered to preform a ultrasound. They sent her home & said it was bruised. She ended up in ICU at Mercy with blood clots that needed surgery intervention.

Her leg will never be 100% do to the lack of professionalism at North Ottawa. She could have lost her leg. Her life was at risk due to the severity. Had North Ottawa cared for her properly she would not have had to go through years of suffering. Again, shame on you to inflict further pain on my family members. This post will be followed up with a call to the hospital administrator.

Fell and smacked my head extremely hard at hurt my back at work. Went into the ER as directed by work. Waited over 3 hours to be seen. Watched a man who couldn't even walk struggle to stand and not even be offered a wheelchair until myself and another patient asked why he wasn't being helped. 3 other people were so fed up with waiting to be cared for they left.

Absolutely abysmal service, uncaring staff, very callous and unfriendly reception. I'd give this entire building, employees, and care negative stars if possible. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY GO ELSEWHERE!

I'm a paramedic that was brought in via ems after a roll over and the patient care was absolutely terrible. The nursing staff left me in just my gown and c collar with no blanket or call light for 45 minutes. My sister who is an NP, finally got the secretary, after she had text to check on me, to bring me a blanket and hand me my call light. It also took over an hour to get pain meds after the nurse repeatedly could not start an IV on me.

I saw the provider twice, once after I got there and then when I was discharged. No pelvic x rays done even though I have notable bruising to my left hip and flank area. Pro med ems refused to take me to mercy and stated that they could only go to north Ottawa. Many comments were made about me not originally being from Michigan and the staff found it humorous that I rolled my vehicle into a ditch after hitting black ice. I have worked in the ER for several years and this, by far, was completely unacceptable and unfathomable.
