Eye doctor Jeffrey Maehara was raised in Honolulu. He attended Tulane Medical School at Tulane University, in New Orleans, Louisiana. At Tulane, he studied under three of the world's top LASIK and refractive surgeons. He is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a fellowship-trained Anterior Segment-Glaucoma Specialist.

A big thank you to Dr. Jeffrey Maehara and all of the great staff for their professional, efficient, thorough and courteous services. Dr. Jeffrey provided a thorough consultation and put me in the drivers seat to make the best decision for the future of my vision. There were no surprises and everything that I hoped for has happened. I still can't believe I don't have to deal with contact lenses, in everything from driving to playing sports without any vision correction as well as being able to read the clock when waking instead of fumbling for the "glasses". If anyone is considering this, I would fully recommend Dr. Jeffrey Maehara. We will "see" you again.

[The Most Honest Doctor Ever in the USA ] I am so glad to meet this doctor! I have been to almost 10 consultations already, Dr Maehara, is the only one told me I am not qualified for surgery (any surgery) for my eyes. He explained to me with data and graph! One of the most honest doctor I have ever seen! Thank you doc!

My optometrist referred me to another doctor, when I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. I went to an initial appointment with that doctor, but I didn't feel comfortable with either him or the staff. My mother has been going to Dr. Jeff Maehara for years, and she was concerned when I told her that the doctor was encouraging me to get laser surgery and multi focal lenses, as both procedures are not covered by insurance.
Out of pocket would have been more than, $7,000. She asked me to see Dr. Jeff, so I did. That was one of the best decisions I ever made. He said that my job, which involves mainly computer work, wasn't really compatible with multi focal lenses, as those lenses are good for close and distance vision, but not intermediate, like for computer work. Long story short, I went with Dr. Jeff, and I love the results. Dr. Jeff and his staff are very friendly and I felt comfortable with them from the beginning. I also saved more than$7k!

I'm very please with my decision to get my laser Surgery with Dr. Maehara. Dr. Maehara explained everything and thoroughly examined my eyes to be sure I was a qualified candidate. The day of the surgery, I was excited and a bit nervous; but everything went smoothly, there was no pain, no complications, it was fast and easy! Went home and rested, woke the next morning to amazingly clear vision! Throughout examinations and post surgery checkups he and his staff were awesome! Mahalo!

I was suffering from vision distortion due a surgery that I had with another doctor. I went to 3 other surgeons for get help and thousands of dollars. I even saw a surgeon in Texas. None of them could help me. I thought I was going to have to live with the vision distortion forever. On my 1st visit to see Dr. Maehara he knew exactly what the problem was.
I had to do another surgery, but ever since then my vision is no longer distorted and I can see! Now I send all my family and friends to him. There is no one else that I will ever trust with my vision again!
