I just read the new review about manakai o'malama as I've long wanted to give them a bad review remembering attempting to call for a week and no one answered the phone or returned calls. Whenever I call to make a simple request the assistants don't know what they're doing, are rude and condescending inappropriate, and no one calls me back. They take months to get anything accomplished - bloodwork, etc. I am shocked they are still in business I believe they discriminate against certain types of patients

I have been seeing my neurologist for years and have never had an issue with my appointments. Since he moved to Manakai O Malama, I have arrived twice in the past year to find either that my doctor was not available or I "didn't have an appointment". They seriously couldn't even apologize for their mistake. So unprofessional. Will be looking to go somewhere else to avoid the aggravation.

If you are looking for a new PCP do not hesitate to check if Natalie Kitamura or Julie Rizzolo are taking new patients. Both of these women are excellent APRNs with Julie specializing in Naturopathic/Homeopathic medicine. Both of working in tandem are very valuable as medical professionals. Both of these APRNs truly LISTEN to you and are proactive with finding the right medical intervention for your symptoms.
They are professional, compassionate and organized. This office is so inviting and the staff are the nicest people ever. I have no idea why anyone would give anything less then 5 stars. I have had no problem getting a appointment and their referrals to other specialist have also been great! Amazing.

II called to arrange a "new patient" appt and the girl was so kind, patient and understanding to my needs. She made an appointment in the next day or so. It was my very first appt and the front end was very welcoming. I was called in right away and Roxanne was great, but at the end I was rushed out but I had told her I had a couple of other concerns, but she said we can talk about it on the next visit a week later.
I don't like feeling rushed to leave, but I'll give it another try when I go back this week. By the way, how long can a visit be? I believe I was there in the room for maybe 10- 15 minutes top.

I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea back in November through their sleep department. From the beginning I was given contradictory information on how to maintain my CPAP from their sleep department. Now I'm out of supplies and about to go on a trip off island. Instead of working on a solution and having my supplies shipped to the mainland for my trip, Nadia decided to give me attitude and refused to help with my situation. I recommend staying away from this location, as they are unprofessional and rude.

I have been coming to Manakai O Malama for close to 8 yrs now for my pain management and if it weren't for PA Scott Acree, I would be either very ill or dead. I started out strickly dealing with my pain management, but Scott noticed other unmentioned issues in my chart, mainly high blood pressure. After several visits for pain, he decided to dig deeper. Well, because my blood pressure was not being managed by my PCP at another facility, Scott decided he would deal with it.
After several blood test, it was determined that I was in stage 3 of Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD. This is one step above Diaylsis. He started me on blood pressure meds IMMEDIATLY, but the damage was done. He refered me to the best Nephrologist Dr. Tasaki which he took over my kidney care. My kidneys have now stablized. Also Scott did not like my cholesterol and triglyceride results.
He put me on meds for this also. Now my numbers are like a 20 yr old. Scott continued to research my issues and continued to mske things right. I am also grateful for Margie, as she always deals with any of my med issues or problems getting my meds. She understands how important meds are and goes out of her way to make things right. She does not wait around to be told what to do, SHE GETS IT DONE.
With all this said, again Scott saved my life and my quality of life. Margie, well lets just say, she gets things done. ALL the staff are wonderful, but these two are my life savers.

I've been going to Manakai O Malama for several months. I initially posted a not-so-great review, but I want to update that to reflect the experience I've had since. After a bumpy start with scheduling, things have greatly improved. The staff has always been great, and they still are. Scheduling is smooth now, the front desk folks are on it, very little wait time as well.
The therapists and medical providers are also a great group of folks, everyone at Manakai O Malama have assisted me a lot in my recovery from a car accident and I appreciate all their efforts. I highly recommend this facility, thank you for helping me get back in the game! Special shout outs to Jeff at front for dealing with my wrath in the beginning, as well as Dorothy, Scott and Peggy for their medical and PT expertise.

My family and I were in Hawaii temporarily seeking to get our annual physicals done and fill out some medical paperwork. We tried finding a facility that took our insurance but were unsuccessful. Fortunately we found this place. At first I wasn't sure we would be accepted or if the doctor would fill out the paperwork but thankfully Jeff spoke with me and helped me set up appointments for my whole family over the phone.
He was extremely kind and helpful, always keeping contact with me through email if I had questions and sending me important documents and information. My first experience was there was wonderful, Dr. Levy and the office staff were so helpful and nice. Extremly impressed by the professionalism they shown. Highly recommend visiting the integrative clinic for your medical needs. Thank Jeff and Dr. Levy for all your help!

I took my girlfriend here after her car accident and she has been going here for a while. We had a very difficult time getting in touch with someone at the office. I spoke with several different people but they all seemed a little confused or flustered when I tried to schedule her appointment. Fortunately I spoke with Jeff on the phone. He was wonderful and understood our situation and helped get her set up with the doctor and explained to us everything we needed to know before coming in.
He got her paper work emailed to us in seconds. We arrived 20 minutes early wuth the paperwork but when we came into the office it just seemed chaotic. There were only 2 receptionist working but they were so occupied with other things that they forgot to check her in. 10 minutes past her appointment time, the nurse took her in. A couple weeks later we got a bill, I called and asked to speak with someone from billing but they put me on hold for a while.
When I finally got to speak with a biller she seemed upset and had an almost condescending tone when explaining to me the billing process. Despite the issues with the front desk and billing, her doctors and therapists have been great. If service was better then i would give a higher rating. I would suggest looking elsewhere for treatment if you can, but if you do choose to go here then I suggest speaking with Jeff or an office manager for help.

The therapists, nursing staff (Dorothy) and providers (Dr. Levy) are great.if you can actually see them. The reception is a mess, doubt me, keep reading comments. When they're busy they will literally pick up the phone and hang it up, simply to stop the ringing. This is Dr office, a healthcare facility.not a McDonald's. Incredibly unprofessional. Answer the phone.
I was in too much pain to actually come in to see Dr. Levy with the sole purpose of discussing this and the new medication he prescribed. I feel bad for the service providers who are undoubtedly not making the money they should be due to these errors. Mostly, I feel bad for the patients. Shop around. Why go to a facility that is a chaotic mess and screws up your appts? If you need PT or other services, go where you'll get them.

I have a time sensitive urgent wound on my hand and had an appointment set up prior to coming to this office. I waited for nearly 2 hours and never got seen until I had brought up that I was going to get lawyers involved if I wasn't seen. Everyone in the reception room was saying how they couldn't wait for people to leave and be done for the weekend.
I felt neglected and uncomfortable. By the time I was done the lights were off and janitors were starting to clean. On top of that the prescription I had didn't have enough info from the doctor so I'm unable to pick up my pain medication for my injury. Hands down (no pun intended) one of the WORST medical experiences I've ever had.

I love my docs that I see at Manakai they are literally the best! Telehealth is amazing and me and my doc are super cool. He's super chill and we go way back, I can say anything and everything to him. They do value you as a patient and their customer service is A1. When I all to make an appointment, they answer right away. I really want to express how much I love their telehealth services because it's super convenient and you can literally call from everywhere. I remember not having my docs zoom code and they gave it to me on the spot. So it's cool to know you can just call and they'll answer! Thank you for being great! :

Went in for an approved appointment from VA choice program Scheduled an appt When I showed up they said they don't take VA And made me pay for an appointment then we're highly disrespectful especially the Filipino lady running billing. Doc was inattentive didn't even try to have a real conversation Trash sub-humans that only animate themselves if you have the right $$$$$$

Went here for a PCP visit- couldnt Say I had the best experience- the doctor offered no solutions to my problem nor a referral. Why i really come here is for the Theraputic Massage on the 4th floor- RC is my man. THIS IS NO FRU FRU place. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. ANATOMY was spot on and the pains I was having in my masseter, Temporalis, and Occiptal area. So painful but soo good. Def have some pain and bruising. But def helpful! Will be recommending him to all my family who needs help with real pain.

I had a very negative experience with Manakai O Malama. In May of 2019 I was diagnosed with apnea and sent to these guys for equipment. Their location was convenient, across from Straub, and their onsite staff was pleasant and helpful. i received my equipment and I was off to a good start. Then everything went south. When it came time for new supplies, about 60 days later, I could not reach anyone at Manakai O Malama.
They did not return calls or emails. After another 30 days, I reached out to the sleep lab at Straub and I was advised to find another provider, which I did, in Kailua. I have been getting calls from Manakai asking to work with me again, but I would not consider it based on their recent track record.

My wife needed a specialist for what she had and every single time we were there and needed help, every person we talked to would take a minute to make sure our concern was addessed. Unless they were on the phone, we never heard the words "I'll be right with you." They took care of whatever we asked and then went on with they were in the middle of doing.
They are the working model of customer service. They may be busy, but they will take a minute to make sure if everything is ok. They are one of the best medical facilities I have seen in my 65 years of medical care. I recommend you give them a try. I don't think you can do better.

The doctors that I have worked with at Manakai O Malama have been great. I have recommended them a few times to relatives and friends. The administrative staff sometimes seems to be a bit overwhelmed, so, for example, you may need to follow up more than once by phone on questions or prescription requests. But for me, it's been a good experience overall.

I was referred to the clinic for physical therapy & had the pleasure of working with Steve. He is great at what he does. I saw him 2-3 weekly for 3 months, so I have been exposed to the other PT's, OT's as well as Scott (medical doctor) I was extremely impressed. They are all knowledgeable, patient oriented, hold you accountable & are willing to help with our road to recovery anyway they can. Steve went on vacation for a week, as I was seen by another provider (Lea) & my level of service did not change.
With each & every appointment I was always seen on time & felt as though I did the work needed for my recovery. I had to have a knee replacement later on in 2019 & asked my military provider to make sure this was my clinic of choice. Thank you to the PT & OT staff for everything you did to help me heal. I am back up & running again!

Super disappointed in their service. I called and asked to schedule an appointment, was told they would call me back in 10-15 minutes. I never received a call back, so I called back. I believe the office girls name was Taylor, she said she gave me a call and left a message. She had not, but continued to argue with me, she said that my issue was something for urgent care.

I honestly don't even think she asked a nurse. I've established this clinic as my primary care and boy what mistake that was, and an absolute waste of my time and energy. I will not be going back to this clinic.

**Warning** Do not waste your time. Worst service ever. Started with my appt., that they lost, then blamed me for being wrong, until half hour later, when they realized they made a mistake, then tried to act nice. The whole reception area is very unorganized. Not feeling confident in the receptionists, and feeling I'd experience more scheduling problems, I chose to change my Physical Therapy to another clinic.
My intuition was right. For the past 3 days, I've called over 10 times just for them to send the request to another clinic. I've left 4 messages, no response, no returned call. I've called 5 other times, and requested it be changed, each time someone answers, it's like they've never heard the request before, they say they'll call me back when they figure it out.still haven't received a call. There's also been countless times where I've called and they haven't answered at all, and I chose not to leave a message, as they don't return those anyway.
Not sure what the problem is, is it the Doctor holding it up, or is the message not getting to him, either way, not professional, at least return the call to ensure progress is being made. I know everybody's job can be stressful and busy at times, but this is unacceptable for a business. Seems like a racket to me, not wanting me to go to another physical therapy clinic. Update: Reception area still horrible. Been waiting for my referral letter to see an orthopedic specialist, I've got the approval from the doctor, but the staff has not forwarded the paperwork. Staff are always polite and courteous. My appointment times are prompt. There is private protected parking, which gets validated parking. A friend who i referred to Dr. Zunin had been homeless for several months with wife and sick toddler. When he told Dr. Zunin that he had been sleeping in the rain in Kakaako with tears in his eyes, Dr. Zunin took money out of his wallet and helped him get into a new appointment. Zunin is a truly good guy. He is also esteemed in his profession. A Worldclass leader in western and Asian medicine.
