This booklet is designed to give you the patient a brief education about trigeminal neuralgia and the treatments offered through Dr. K. Singh Sahni. We have tried to explain difficult terms and concepts in lay terms. For instance, you will find unfamiliar medical terms in bold italics explained within the text and in the glossary that follows.
MR focused ultrasound is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of Essential Tremor and Parkinson's disease related tremors. It uses high-intensity ultrasound energy, guided by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to heat an exceedingly small, targeted area of the brain treating the tremor. This procedure does not involve any significant radiation.

At my last visit Dr Sahni asked me to get him a disk of a previous MRI. I got it from Williamsburg Hospital and mailed it immediately. Staff confirmed they received and uploaded it. However, Dr Sahni never reviewed it prior to my visit today. When he did so he said it was not what he needed and would order another one of the cranial nerve at their Richmond facility and follow up with another visit after the results.
Round trip visits take 2.5 hours of driving so I asked if the second MRI could be done in Williamsburg, but was told no. I don't really understand why that is the case as I would think Dr Sahni could order the specific imaging he needs from Sentara Williamsburg.

I have always been impressed with Dr. Matthew Mayr and his staff. He is a wonderful surgeon who took care of my husband for several yeare s and has recently taken care of me. He and his staff have always been quick to respond and help with my pain and resolve the problems. I recommend them to anyone who needs help with back pain.

12 years ago I was involved in an accident and I was referred to Dr Geckle and I had 2 separate surgeries cervical fusion c5-6 and Laminectomy L4/L5. After a good bit of PT I was able to return to the life I enjoyed before the accident. Unfortunately I was involved in another accident this year. I had severe neck and shoulder pain and Doctor Geckle was the my first call.
The fusion that was done 12 years ago was fine. Unfortunately the disc above and below had issues and 3 level cervical fusion was recommended. I ended up having a torn rotator cuff repair surgery first. I was hoping some time might help with the cervical pain and symptoms and it got worse so I decided trust Dr Geckle 8 weeks ago I had a 3 level cervical fusion with a metal plate.
Today I started back to work and I am well on my way to a full recovery! 12 years ago I asked my doctor who he would go to for the surgeries that I needed and with out hesitation he recommended Dr Geckle. I have had 3 successful surgeries and I find That he is quite competent and He is highly recommended!

Katrina G. Murphy is overcommitted and very hard to get an appointment with. Her assistant, Latoya, doesn't return phone calls promptly, nor does she try very hard to make sure that refills are refilled promptly. Neither are very concerned with patients who are in pain. Latoya's recommendation for pain management when an appointment was not available for days was the emergency room--which would have cost me $4500.

I saw Dr. Mattingly regarding neck pain. He suggested an array of intervention BEFORE surgery! He wasn't quick to operate and when it became apparent other treatment wasn't working, he did surgery. Quickly fixing problem. I will NEVER go to any other practice. I sent my sister who saw an ortho first who wanted to do surgery. Skeptical she went to Dr. Mattingly.
He gave her an array of other options as well. She is pain free and no surgery. He once said if it's your spine/neck you go to Neuro. because of nerve bundles and increased chance of a slip up causing serious issues. Ortho can do limbs. Listened and have followed. After surgery on my shoulder (6) for rotator cuff - I went to him and he said NO Amir's surgery.
Never let them touch it again. Sadly he has moved on but Dr. Alexander, Murphy are in practice and I have sent others to them. My brother in law stated "I'd let Dr. Alexander operate in the middle of a gas station parking lot".he is pain free after years. This practice gets my highest rating and my highest recommendation.

Worst doctors ever. this isn't one of those reviews where the person was seeking pain medicine and didn't get it. Never once requested any type of medication from Dr Mattingly. Went to see Dr. Mattingly twice to try to figure out what was causing my back to go out. First time he ordered an MRI and it was denied by my insurance. I was never told why just that I needed to go to PT which I did.
After unsuccessful PT and another flare up I again tried to see Dr. Mattingly who spent about 2 mins with me never actually making eye contact pushed on my legs and said "we'll try again". Being suspicious I called the day of my scheduled MRI to see if it was still on and it was cancelled. again with out anyone calling me. I was told they would check with Dr. Mattingly and get back to me.
After a few days and another flare up I called them and they were clueless as ever. Was told I needed to call the insurance company (which I already had) to see what I needed to do next (get an xray first, what they had said the first time to Dr. Mattingly but they never told me). From what I understand from my PC Dr. this is pretty standard and couldn't believe they didn't x ray me first. Maybe there are good doctors there, but that wasn't my experience.
