I have been seeing Dr. West since 2006 when she was at another location. She is always ready to explain new technology and offer contact samples. My eyes get extremely dry, I mountain bike, and have bad allergies. Surprisingly Dr. West does too! When I first started in contacts she spent I think 3 months getting me some that I could wear comfortably.
My husband has a tricky prescription, in the past was told he could not wear contacts because they could not get him to 20/20. Dr. West has never had the issue. She is a very knowledgeable doctor, we have discussed my migraines, allergies, various health conditions.

Our experience here has been terrible. It used to be decent with he previous owner, but not any longer. They will purposefully find "medical" issues to bill your medical insurance as well as your vision plan. Ex: allergies They did not treat the medical issues just made egregious medical claims. This has never happened to us before nor will it again as we will never return here.
We've seen plenty of other providers and did not experience this. Additionally, the glasses I purchased are unwearable. Upon receiving them, I immediately went back inside and told them they were awful.ground looked to be in a different spot, made me feel like vomiting, etc. They did little to nothing to help me and just told me to keep wearing them.
I wore them daily for many weeks but kept feeling ill. I called them to explain this and was told there was nothing that could be dine. I then went to another provider, paid for another set of glasses out of pocket, and I have not had any issues since then.

Optometrist was courteous and professional. Unfortunately, they charged us considerably more than our co-pay. A week later and I'm still waiting for a callback from their office to solve the issue. My husband and I didn't like the fact that we had to sign paperwork at the end of the exam, after we had our pupils dialated. Overall, the place is nice and the staff are friendly, my disappointment was their procedures for check-in and check-out.

Called the office on Thursday afternoon and they were able to schedule an appointment for the following afternoon to my son for his irritated eyes. They were awesome! Clean, punctual, informative, caring, friendly, everything you could want out of an office. We'll definitely be returning for our routine care.

My husband and I were in need of a new eye Dr. and they had both good reviews and availability. The Dr. was fantastic, 5 stars. She was patient, through, and helped us out a lot. Things however went down when it came to picking out glasses. My husband was looking at some pairs of sunglasses for his prescription while I was being examined and he felt enough high pressure sales tactics to buy from one of the workers that he texted me to make an excuse to leave. Picking out glasses takes time, you wear them everyday so you really want the right ones.
When I was done with my exam and we were both out front I also felt the high intensity and pushiness of the worker to purchase glasses. I understand that buying glasses is where a large portion of your profits come from, and we might have bought some, but feeling like we were pushed to do so resulted in us actually not purchasing anything. Oh well, at least the Dr. Was fantastic.

My exam was quick and painless and the prescription is accurate. Dr. West kindly and patiently gave me eye care advice to reduce strain in the future. She was friendly and down to earth. 5 stars for her as an individual. The saleswoman, I don't remember her name, used high-pressure tactics like a time limit and a persistence close. I needed to take my time and look around, but when she wanted to pick frames out for me, I felt uncomfortable saying "no, thanks".
My jaw dropped when I heard the price for a pair as she was asking for my card. When I told her I wouldn't be able to pay $400, she asked if I could pay half now and half later. It's important for me that those who've lost their jobs and are struggling (because of Covid like I have and in general) be able to access resources without breaking the bank.
I found out later that she was charging me for three lens options that were either not needed (I don't need high index) or excessive (UV and blue-light filters) and were significantly higher than industry average for those options. When I told her "No, I won't be able to do that, " I felt like my decision was not respected and that I had done something bad to her.
She walked away quickly and stopped looking at and speaking with me, and her tone was completely different. I had to go back to the practice for the lens solution and case for my trial contacts (I was too flustered to remember I needed the kit, but I've gotten trials for years and haven't had to ask for one). I was also charged twice of what my copay was for the contacts exam and told (re: my contacts order) "it looks like there's no order in, let's charge you out for those" when I called to check if they'd arrived.
I explained my side of the story to her, and she implied that if I'd paid for them, they would've mailed them. It was like the last two conversations I'd had with her hadn't happened, and it took effort to get off the phone without paying. I remember her saying when I asked at checkout about them: "Yes, we'll call you when they're here." I also called a few days later to check how many weeks' worth of contacts I had ordered and was given a number.
I value transparency and conscientiousness, and I feel disappointed that those needs weren't met. I went to eyemart, got fantastic glasses for $110 (and $20 for sunglasses) after insurance, with great staff. I'll definitely be going to eyemart again, the experience was relaxed and enjoyable, and I was happy when it came time to pay. There's a very small chance I'd go back here when it's time for a new prescription, but I would be walking straight to the desk to check out and calling my insurance before paying anything not immediately covered.

One fateful afternoon, I sat on my glasses and snapped them in half. "Oh well, " I thought, "off to the glasses store to get some new ones!" Little did I know, my previous provider was on a TWO WEEK wait for me to get an appointment. I said "can I just get a replacement order?" "NO, " they SHOUTED. "This is the COVID pandemic, and you need a full workup before you get new glasses!" "What am I supposed to do for two weeks, I can't see!" "Sorry, we cant help, " they continued. ***enter Texas Family Eyecare*** One professional phone call and I was squeezed in NEXT DAY!
They met me at the door for a light Covid screening and showed me to the cleanest office I could have imagined Dr. Gjolberg was extremely friendly and professional. She spent extra time with me as I'm notoriously bad at the "1 or 2" game they play to find your prescription. In and out in 20 min, with a brand new script and new glasses on the way. Glad I found my new eye doc! Highly recommended by a local Austinite : PS. It was the cheapest eye doctors visit I've ever had! And I've had a few!

Thank you to Dr West and her staff for taking care of us yesterday! She is always so thorough and makes sure my eyes are healthy even with my diabetes. Her office staff is friendly and professional, always greeting the family by name and willing to help us make the right choices when it comes to our frames and lenses.

Ever fall asleep with glasses on? I do it quite often, resulting in broken glasses a few days ago. I called Texas Family Eyecare and they had me come in next day for repairs and a needed exam. Once I arrived, Dr. Gjolberg met me at the door for a quick COVID screening and exam. Dr. Gjolberg was pleasant and professional. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Everyone was very friendly. Even Dr. West stopped and said hello, how often do other doctors stop and greet you when your at an office?
