Services
At Nash OB-GYN, we are dedicated to understanding and caring for women throughout all stages of life. We strive to provide the level of specialized medical care to meet your needs compassionately and confidentially. Our highly trained medical staff and administrative team works together to ensure that we provide you with understanding care in a professional, friendly and comfortable environment.
Telemedicine/Telehealth is the practice of using telecommunication technology to evaluate, diagnose, and care for patients at a distance. There do exist some limitations to telemedicine. For obvious reasons, the provider cannot do an exam via telemedicine. Neither can we obtain vital signs. There is also the risk of data loss due to technical failure.
We offer the convenience of an in-office laboratory which is certified by both CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and COLA. We offer limited on-site laboratory services providing immediate results for pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and CBC (complete blood count) among others. Laboratory tests that are not available on site are sent to a larger reference lab (LabCorp) and results are typically available to physicians within 24 to 48 hours. These tests are being classified as diagnostic in nature and are not recommended as a routine part of the wellness exam.
Our triage nurse is available to assist with any questions or concerns that our established patients may have each day during regular business hours. The triage nurse can be contacted by phone call or by a secured message from your patient portal. Please note that although patients are able to send a portal message 24 hours a day, the messages are only monitored during our normal business hours.

They don't really seem to care much. Have a problem when the medicine they give you isn't working and you want to try something else. I tried two doctors here Dr. Hancock was the worst. The lady would rush me and also would have irritated look when I asked questions. Dr. Hancock just seemed like she was in it just to work with babies.

I have been going here off and on since I was a teen. I have had interactions with pretty much every doctor there with being pregnant, experiencing a miscarriage and just general women's care. Overall, it's a good practice. The nurses are awesome, always really friendly and willing to listen. They also are great about answering questions over the phone or through the online portal. Dr. Peyton is my least favorite Doctor here. she lacks a lot of bedside manner.
There are times where I think they are a bit rushed, as a lot of people go here due to it being the only OB/GYN practice in the Rocky Mount area. The front staff can be a bit cold (especially when it comes to insurance issues and being super COVID ridiculous) but other than that it's not terrible. I guess there are some days where your visit is just hit or miss. I'd say if you have significant health issues or pregnancy issues, maybe find a smaller practice where more time can be taken with you.

I had the opportunity to have two kids with the doctors here. The first pregnancy was a good experience with Dr. Hancock, as she was a new doctor at the time. However, the second pregnancy I was treated as a nobody. Every doctor I visited seemed rushed and dismissive. I experienced horrible pain and continuous bleeding throughout my second pregnancy but none of the doctors would explain why I felt so unpleasant and none took the time to express any care or understanding.
I felt horrible and alone. I would not recommend these doctors to treat pregnant women who are experiencing a major change to their life and body. The most dismissive doctors were Hancock, bullerdick, van zant, and Peyton that I can remember. The midwives are AMAZING, however, they would not allow a midwife to be my primary doctor. Hancock did have more patience but it was not enough more as I was an emotional reck during my second pregnancy. I'd rather travel to see a kind compassionate doctor than be around these doctors.

The receptionist and sonographer were great and made me feel very comfortable. However Dr. Christina R. Peyton was a bit dismissive. She did not introduce herself, I had to ask if she was my doctor when she walked in. She did not ask me if I had any questions. She pretty much lacked bedside manners. She did attempted to refer me to specialist. However I do have specialist back in my hometown that I prefer and I was very kind when I declined the referral.
After expressing my interest in my own specialist Dr. Christina R. Peyton became disinterested and cut the conversation short. She never explained what my situation was or asked me if I understood what was happening. She told me about blood work and gave me verbal directions to the lab and when I asked her if my last blood was for the same thing she disclosed my information in a public setting which was very unprofessional and embarrassing. For this reason I will never come back here which I'm sure doesn't matter to anybody. However I felt the need to share this unfortunate experience.

The only OBGYN I've been to since being in Nash County! The nurses, ladies at the front desk, and all of the doctors there are awesome. I've never received a bad attitude, an unanswered question, or left feeling like I never wanted to go back. My insurance deemed them as not a medical provider for me, and they still allowed me to come see my doctor (Dr. Hancock) don't hesitate to check them out. I love them!

I recently moved to the area and my previous OB-GYN recommended that I see a local provider to pursue a hysterectomy. (I was scheduling with my previous provider but due to dates being pushed back, I had to move before she had availability.) I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Van Zant on a recommendation and was highly disappointed. He minimized my concerns and offered treatment recommendations that I had already exhausted with my previous provider with no success.
When I tried to discuss my symptoms he told me he saw no reason I should have any of those problems based on his exam. I was frustrated because I know my own symptoms, and he dismissed my concerns, stating that he has 30 years of experience and told me to go back to my previous provider if I didn't like what he had to say. So I did go back, and I was informed that my condition had in fact worsened substantially. Now I'm being referred to a specialist in Cary. But Dr. Van Zant didn't think I had any of the problems I told him about.

This is by far the best OBGYN clinic I have been to. I don't live in Rocky Mount, but don't mind the 25 minute drive for my appointments. The front desk staff is always nice and friendly along with the nurses, lab techs, and my physician Dr. French. I always feel comfortable during my visits and don't feel rushed at all. Dr French and her nurses are very thorough and answer any questions I may have.
The patient portal is also a lifesaver! I always get a response the same day, if its during business hours, or soon after the office opens if I message while they're closed. The wait time is never long and I'm in and out in less than 20 minutes!

I was recently seen by Dr. Peyton for a miscarriage. I was a new patient and I knew what was happening. I am not upset with my experience because of the outcome of my pregnancy. I am upset with the lack of listening Dr. Peyton did. She did not have good bedside manner in delivering the news of the miscarriage, and a week and a half later when I went back in for a follow up appointment, her care was even less.
I was hoping to discuss with her some questions I've had pertaining to my health and rather than take the time to listen and talk, she immediately wrote me off as someone with advanced maternal age needing to seek help from an infertility clinic. She did not even ask me about the questions I had and really didn't give me the choice to even ask- just asked which clinic I would like to go to.
I left that appointment very upset that the doctor was unwilling to even listen to my health concerns- miscarriage aside- and immediately made assumptions about me rather than taking the time to discuss. I will never go back, and I truly hope Dr. Peyton will one day realize how the way she conducts herself and her appointments is impacting the quality of care Nash OB-GYN's patients are receiving. The nurses I saw were fantastic and very empathetic, but Dr. Peyton completely ruined the experience there.
