Walk-In Hours are designed to provide efficient care of common illnesses of short duration. You do not need to call ahead or schedule an appointment. Simply show up at the office during the "Walk-In Hours". You will be seen on a first-come-first-serve basis. Although we make every effort to see all who arrive, we reserve the right to triage or have you schedule an appointment if the problem is chronic or too complex. The bottom line is - we want to provide excellent care and sometimes a longer, scheduled visit would be more appropriate.
Below is a list of insurance carriers that Penfield Pediatrics physicians participate with. Each carrier may offer several different plans, and Penfield Pediatrics may not accept them all. Please contact your insurance carrier to learn if our providers participate with your particular plan, and the services you require are covered under your plan.
Our "walk-in" hour is from 9am-10am Monday through Friday. This service is most appropriate for children who have acute illness, such as sore throats, earaches, worsening cough and other recent uncomplicated complaints. These patients are seen on a first-come first-serve basis by the next available provider.

I gave three stars because the Doctors are nice but as far as the front desk staff go, 0 stars. The staff are rude over the phone and don't really have compassion. I received my son's test results through mychart over the weekend and called first thing on Monday. The results said he had Lupus which can be serious in a 5 yr old even deadly. I tired to speak to medical staff and she was rude saying You have an appt next week and sighed when I said my son needs a sooner appt. due to his joint pain and huge loss in muscle and weight loss.
She said she couldn't make appts since only 3 doctors were in and I would have to call tommorrow for appt. I asked to speak to someone over the phone due to my fear for the health of my son and she seemed annoyed. She finally took my number and still I'm waiting for a call back.

We have three children who are currently patients with Dr. Kaplan at Penfield Pediatrics. I can't think of one bad thing to say about this office, the staff, or Dr. Kaplan. He always takes his time and answers every question I have, and is happy to talk through any process or procedure with me. He has always followed up with me personally if there was a question he wasn't able to answer immediately.
I also believe Dr. Kaplan actually takes the time to listen to our thoughts and concerns with out kids, and takes our opinions into consideration (unlike other Doctors I've visited.)

I have four kids and have been with Penfield Pediatrics for about 16 years. We love it. Even when my insurance company had a serious glitch a couple years back and we had almost $700 in outstanding bills we were not responsible for, they were patient while the insurance company sorted it all out. We've always had good care, and my kids have had the same primary doctor for all of this time. We find people to be friendly and helpful, and are very satisfied.

We initially enjoyed taking our daughters to this clinic for their pediatric care. That was until we called regarding a bill received from a lab provider used by them. None of our daughter's insurance information was processed to the lab clinic and we called to inquire why this standard practice throughout the medical industry was not followed. The receptionist started by belittling us and explaining how WE should be the ones to solve the problem and how it was not the clinics fault.
Then she explained how the whole filing process was done correctly and although she could not explain why the error occurred she insisted that although they were the ones who filed and submitted for the labs, it was our fault for not choosing a different lab. Then the office manager got on the phone to again explain how it was not their fault. What happened to customer service?
I guess they are just to used to telling people what to think and are unwilling to admit fault. I would hate to think what would happen if it were a larger billing issue, or god forbid a medical issue. Well I guess the search begins for a new pediatric clinic for our daughters.
