My experience at Dr. Doan's office was very unpleasant. Her manner was argumentative and self defensive. I stopped her a few minutes into the exam to say I didn't feel like we were communicating well. She looked surprised, but continued to argue with each answer I gave regarding my current situation, my past eye care and my expectations for this visit.
In all honesty I think she was correct in what she told me, but she did it in such an argumentative way that I felt uncomfortable and stopped asking questions. The doctor and I were not a good match.

I have had very positive experiences with Dr. Doan and her staff. They are very efficient and always nice. There is very positive energy there. I had cataracts removed and will be choosing reading glasses soon. To say she changed my life would sound very cliche but she has made a very big positive impact. My eyes were very bad. I would recommend her and her staff without a second thought. That was my review of her professionally. I would like to add that she is genuinely likable!

Went to my regular eye doctor for pain in my right eye. I was given drops for about a week that didn't work. Got a referral to see Dr. Doan. Within 2days I had no eye pain and everything was back to normal. She is very thorough with her exams and her explanations. Literally the best doctor I've been to. I'm now switching eye doctors and bring my whole family with me. Can't say enough good things about her!

First, their website allows you to schedule phantom appointments. I "scheduled" an appointment for 9a but the morning of, I thought it was weird that I hadn't heard from them and so called. nope not on the calendar. Waste of time. If unable to schedule online (which is a great feature), then remove the functionality. Next, when I called them to confirm-and found out I had no appointment, they offered something the following week 25 min away (I live in Newport, appt will be in Huntington). Fine, all good, take time off of work to make it happen.
It's a rough night the day of the appointment. I wind up at the all night hospital with our dog. Long story short, after being up most of the night and driving 25 min, I show up for my 11a at 11:11. They won't see me. More worried about their 2 minutes worth of paperwork getting filled out. Ok got it, paperwork done by 11:15 can the Dr see me now? No.
Due "to Covid", we can't start a few minutes late and the next appointment is 9 days away. They are very worried about that paperwork for some reason. Before appointment I received multiple voicemails asking if/when I'd done it online (no, have been busy-happy to knock out onsite. Literally takes 2 minutes. Easy.) After the 18 hours I had, and what I went through to get there-to shoo me away over 10 or 15 minutes was very insensitive and frustrating.
No one likes to be late but life happens. This is SoCal, anyone can be 11 min late from traffic at anytime. We've all happily waited (a lot more than) 11 minutes for a Dr appt to start-sounds like this level of understanding is a one way street at this office. Heck, how many times have we waited 11+ minutes just in the exam room for a Dr to walk in?
I made the effort to get here despite the distance and night's drama. but no effort from their side. It wasn't easy but I made sure I wasn't a no-show. It was a very long and angry 25 minute drive home. Back to balancing work and a sick dog, morning is shot, and eye appointment still not accomplished. I'm rarely late and the few times it's happened, my experience is everyone has a little grace period to help out. Life happens. Not here! One star first impression.

Dr. Doan is the best! She listens to me, chats with me, cares about me! I highly recommend her. She is always on time too. And Mija is a dear and very kind and respectful, just like Dr. Doan. The other gentleman employee is nice too. My cataract surgeries were successful and my eyesight is excellent now!

Dr. Doan and her staff are both professional and caring! My 89 year-old mom enjoys visiting with her every 6 months and finds her to be friendly and trustworthy. After cataract surgery last year, mom couldn't be more thrilled with her improved vision. Her care during the whole process was excellent.

Dr. Doan saved my eyesight. She squeezed me in for an appointment when her schedule was completely packed the day she returned from Christmas vacation. She diagnosed me with a significant torn retina and immediate made arrangements for me to have surgery that same day. Dr. Doan is incredibly knowledgeable and is so caring & kind. I was so fearful and she helped me to get through an extremely frightening situation. Also she has a new shop with spectacular glasses!
