Unprofessional. I waited 2 months to get my records sent over from Duke's medical records in hopes of transferring care. They never called Duke's to see what the problems were. After two weeks I called and fixed the problem. Then we were waiting on growth charts that weren't sent from Duke's. No one followed up or notified me of options. They knew I was trying to change services and I printed out my kids' records myself with their heights and weights in gave it to them in person, but they needed the same information on a chart.
I couldn't get my kids' an appointment that they needed because they wanted the same information in a chart form. And they stood behind their policy of waiting for all medical records until making an appointment. Duke's is also responsible for not sending records in a timely manner. But they said they knew about that problem with Duke but seemed to not to not follow up with them.
They said they try to take care of this stuff so we (parents) don't have to. I don't see the action behind your statement. Really it is just unprofessional and inefficient to not keep calling medical records at Duke like I was. I followed up countless times wi the this office and Duke Medical Records, and had some progress but only thanks to me. I waited about 2-3 weeks to find out it wasn't even faxed properly to this office.
Then I took it upon myself to followup. Only to find out at this point we are still waiting on charts. This office did nothing but state their policy to me that they can't make an appointment until all records are sent. I have been a nurse for over 13 years working in varied fields including an office as well. And I never get angry with fellow healthcare workers, I did this time.
Clearly they are not taught how to obtain and follow up on obtaining records. They need to be properly trained that is all. I know because I used to do what they do. It's not that they don't care, but they need to take responsibility for their part. l highly recommend not going here. Nothing is upgraded, no apps for efficient communication, faxing is old fashioned (not eFax) which makes it harder on other offices to send information.
You can find good doctors anywhere, but how an office is run is more important so you have less headaches. Also, found another pediatrician office and drove over there with the copies of records I do have in hand and they accepted my kids. Made an appointment for the same month. Got that taken care of in less than an hour versus 2 months here.

Dr. Mary Beth Helton has been invaluable to me and my family this past month. My 15-month-old daughter had a terrible virus and Dr. Helton was so thoughtful and helpful throughout the whole progression and diagnosis. I knew something was off and she not only listened to me but guided me as she would've done with her own children. Going to the pediatric ER is never something any parent wants to do, but I'm so grateful I had Dr. Helton's notes and guidance to inform the triage staff.
She called me to check on my daughter and helped us after the hospital stay as well. All of the doctors we've seen at Carolina Kids have been wonderful and helpful but Dr. Helton is extraordinary! I hope she practices medicine for as long as my children visit a pediatric office. Thank you for caring for my baby the way you do, Dr. Helton. We are so very appreciative.

I have nothing but good things to say about this practice. We drive almost an hour & a half just to see Dr. Emmet. I can't speak for any other doctors in this practice as we have only seen Dr. Emmet but everyone in the practice has always been very nice & helpful. If your child is sick, they will see you the same day. They do not rush through appointments. They are very thorough & listen to concerns. It is well worth the drive for us!

I love the doctors and staff at Carolina Pediatrics. My 3 year old son has been a patient since birth and our newborn is now a patient there as well. We drive over 30 min to get there even though there are other highly rated pediatricians closer. We have always seen Dr. Emmett, she is amazing with my sons and very personable.

I can't recommend Carolina Kids Pediatrics enough to anyone looking for outstanding doctors and medical care for their child! My daughter saw doctors here from birth until 16 months when we moved out of town and every visit was great. They made me feel at-ease during their initial visit to the hospital, even at the beginning of covid in 2020. It's always extremely worrying for me when my daughter gets sick but I could either use the online portal or call in with a question and they would walk me through the best course of action or quickly get me in for a visit.
My daughter primarily saw Dr. Tanaka and occasionally Dr. Nechyba or others and all were extremely knowledgeable, kind, and great with my daughter. The nurses were also top notch and the administrative staff were efficient and polite. Look no further for an amazing pediatrician's office!

We have been seeing Dr Mary Beth Helton for 15 + years now and have followed her from her previous office. Dr. Helton has been someone who has loved and cared for all 4 of my children from the beginning. We have been through many issues that she has always listened, recommended solutions and offered emotional support. She has become a part of our family and I trust her with my children's health and well being. Wherever she goes, we will go. Thank you Dr Helton for the years of service and love for my family! You have always taken time to talk to us and made us feel connected through your care! We love you!

Dr. Helton was our 16yo daughter's pediatrician since the day she was born, and we followed her to Carolina Kids. She is who diagnosed our daughter with Type 1 Diabetes at 5 years old, and she shared our tears in such a caring way. She listens to the concerns and opinions of her patients. She stays current with her medical knowledge. She is not afraid to refer out to specialists, and when she needs to do that, she has an extensive knowledge of who is the best to see for various specialties. We feel so lucky that she was the pediatrician on call the day our daughter was born as that was the start of a wonderful relationship with a wonderful doctor.

We have been going to Carolina Kids for over 13 years. We primarily see Dr. Nechyba who's an excellent doctor with great bedside manners. He listens and cares. If our appointment needs extra time, he will give it to us. He doesn't hesitate to send us to a specialist and will follow up with us if we successfully scheduled an appointment and how it went. Nurses and front staff are caring and attentive as well. We saw other practitioners during emergency appointments also and liked them all. 5 stars all around.

We've been going here since my twins were infants. I cannot recommend them high enough. They were wonderful with me as an exhausted first time mom and equally as great with my now teenage kids. Staff is as top notch as the doctors too. Love that they stepped up and are offering the vaccine from day one for my kids too.

So glad to have found Carolina Kids Pediatrics! We were previously with another popular practice in the area until we moved out of town for 4 years. They would not take us back because they are too busy to accept new patients and we had been gone 4 years (their cutoff to be considered "returning" was 3 years). Initially I was disappointed, but for the last 5 years we have been with Carolina kids I am thrilled that we were forced to switch.
It is an extremely well run practice. They do a great job of keeping to appointment times with very minimal waiting, they follow-up with me when my children are overdue for well visits, shots, etc., and they have very flexible sick visit policy. We have found all of the doctors to be very accessible and knowledgeable and I would not hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone looking for a pediatrician.
