Incompetent people. After setting up an appointment they then canceled it without telling me. I drove all the way over there during rush hour to be told I needed to come back another day. When I questioned what happened, they lied about trying to contact me. It's one thing to make a mistake - we all do - but to then lie to cover it up? I will never go back.

I've been seeing Dr. Gupta for close to 20 years now and she is among the finest doctors I have ever had. She has done cataract surgery on both eyes, which turned out excellently, as well as other related laser procedures. She is brilliant, kind, thoughtful and highly competent. I no longer live in the immediate area and drive a fairly long way just so I can continue to see her as my doctor. Frankly, I wouldn't trust anyone else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The above was posted two years ago but I have to say that something has definitely changed with this practice.
It is nearly impossible now to get anyone on the phone. Scheduling appointments is a nightmare and most of the staff we have spoken with have been rude, dismissive or condescending. I think there are some real problems here with the operations side of things that need addressing. I still give Dr Gupta 5 stars, but the overall place is dropping to about 2 stars.

I was both offended and disgusted by my experience at Raleigh Ophthalmology this morning. One of the staff at the reception desk had her mask around her chin when I walked in. Her nose was red. As I approached the front desk, this woman pulled her mask up -- but it still kept falling below her nose. She continued to cough and cough and cough. This woman was clearly sick.
The waiting room was filled with elderly patients. During COVID, there was no excuse for this woman to be in the office. Why a reputable ophthalmology practice would not have immediately sent this woman home instead of having her feet from all incoming patients was baffling. I did not wait for my appointment but instead turned around and walked out.

After having my first cataract removal surgery done, I went in for the follow up two days later. I waited for my 1pm appointment for an hour and a half, 30 minutes of which I was the only person in the waiting room. Nobody came out to apologize or nothing. I was clearly the last patient of the day and felt like they forgot about me. Later, after having my second eye surgery, the receptionist called to schedule my follow-up for 2pm.
I expressed my concerns of waiting again where she then proceeded to argue with me. I'm happy with my surgeries.great vision now after the surgeries. the doctor was great, but the staff is horrendous.

If you have an option, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Three strikes, and I am looking for a new eye place. Have been coming here about once a year for last 3 years after my primary doctor referred me to them. My experience was not good. 3 specific things. 1) all my 4 appointments were taken an hour late. And except one time, no one even bothered to acknowledge/apologize for being late. 2) double billed me last year, had to get it fixed after calling. 3) I called them up a few days ago get a copy of my latest eyeglass prescription.
I asked them for an email, or even simply say it over phone, , they said no because of HIPA privacy rules. (But they would send to ANY fax number though, weird) and then I grudgingly accept to have that posted to me via snail mail. And today, I get the letter from them, and voila! It's not my prescription, it's the prescription of another random patient there

The doctors prioritize their convenience over their patients'. They will make a patient go to the location that's convenient for the doctor! For instance, Constans is making us drive all the way to their new North Raleigh location because it's where he wants to see us even though we've seen him at the Blue Ridge location and have told him numerous times that it's already pretty far for us. Additionally, we've been asking for an appointment for the longest time, and when they finally have an opening (which I'm sure they're not *that* busy!), they decide to send us to the farther location because that's where Constans wants to be! Oh and when we do have an appointment, we sit around waiting for 2 hours, and when he finally sees us, he spends a whopping 15 minutes just to tell us to get OTC eye drops!

Do NOT waste your time and efforts here. Had issues with my eyes watering way too much. Yes I have allergies and I told them that already. But they had someone "eye triage" me at first then back to Dr. Robinson. He is a thin short man who I was really hoping had an answer. He spent less than 4 minutes with me (this is how it felt). He spoke to me like I just needed to head to CVS first and pick up something over the counter.
And so. guess what? I was told to pick up some Refresh and Systane due to "dry eye". Now. understand I have done research on dry eye prior to this visit but this man just chalked up my $60 copay as a "dry eye and goodbye". It has been a week and the issue persists? Yeah. I called today (I needed to give it time to see if he was correct). I was told that my best course of action was to head to Urgent Care Opthamology! SMH Like? What?
Who says that! So I need to pay another $75 and a wait during Covid19 precautions in order to finally get someone to take me seriously? Yelp is just my first stop on this reviewing of this business. Can't wait to get my survey for Dr. Robinson.

Where do I even start?! Walked in to the rudest receptionist, she acted as if we was a burden coming in for our appointment. After waiting 20 mins to be checked in, we waited another 20 mins to be taken back by another rude employee who didn't care about my child's needs or how uncomfortable she was. She sat us back outside after a few questions, where we waited by TWENTY other patients checked in, got taken back after 45 mins and the doctor was dismissive and I felt rushed through our how appointment. He made me feel like my concerns for my child was silly and didn't really care. He was blank, and cold. 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!

This is for the North Raleigh Office and for the pediatric side of things. It was so rough. I brought my 20 month old in for an annual checkup as a new patient after moving states and there were so many things that were just not accommodating for pediatric patients. The doctor himself and the medical staff were nice and efficient at their jobs once we got back to see the doctor, but the receptionists and office environment were not pleasant experiences.
There are no diaper changing stations in the bathroom next to the office in this office building. That was very inconvenient and unsanitary to be limited to changing my child on the floor instead of having a proper place to change my child's diaper. The receptionist was flustered at best and even rude at one point. I noticed they were behind in getting patients checked in and seen, but that is no reason to be rude.
The office was not welcoming or decorated in any manner that would make one think they accept pediatric patients. No pictures or bright paint colors. Just a dark, cold, unwelcoming waiting room and office space for kids. I waited until after my child's appointment time to be checked in even though I arrived early enough to be checked in before my child's appointment time.
I understand doctors offices can get busy and there is a lot of waiting involved, but if a doctor is going to accept pediatric patients, he or she has to be accommodating to seeing pediatric patients. We were at the office for two hours and saw the doctor for less than 10 minutes of that time. I've been to other pediatric ophthalmologists with my child where we were in and out in just under or over an hour and most of that time was spent waiting for the eyes to dilate. 2 hours of wait time is too long for pediatric patients. Please, improve this office space and wait times to be more accommodating to pediatric patients or I don't see the pediatric patient population continuing to come see you.

Where to begin? Complete waste of time. Arriving@1:35 till 3:40! There are plenty of other offices that will take better care of you in the Raleigh area! First off I come prepared with new patient paperwork because I do understand doctors time is valuable, not only to us but for other patients as well. As I get to check my daughter in for her appointment the receptionist is already rude off the bat. Tells me I owe a copay, as I try to explain my daughter reached her deductible for the year, she wouldn't listen.
Without even taking my insurance information to check from the beginning. Next, after waiting almost an hour over her appointment time to be taken back (all while 5 patients that came AFTER us went back before her), just for the initial exam. Then, sent back out for another 20 or longer. FINALLY getting to see the doctor, he comes in very rushed & rude to my young daughter and I.
We were sent because he was a specialist & my daughter has been in pain for wk in both eyes. We were just happy to get the appointment & this was how she was treated. He made her feel anxious/upset because she could tell he didn't care, even as she explained what's been happening w/ her eyes. Lastly, dilating her eyes only to send us to wait ANOTHER 15min.
Bring us back, examines her eyes (while he would pull down his mask inappropriately during the exam during a pandemic) literally less than 5 minutes later dismisses us with NO help! He had already made his mind up about my daughter & could care less. Without anything to help with pain for her eyes after I specifically asked because he is the eye doctor! My daughter leaving feeling more uncomfortable than EVER w/ barely a 10-minute appointment. EXTREMELY unprofessional from beginning to end!

If there was an option for no stars then this place would definitely be it. We have had multiple appointments canceled and changed because they refuse to provide access to EFFECTIVE communication. I've never seen a room full of educated people not understand English when it's spoken to them. I was asked the same question multiple times and I feel as if some of the staff don't care as much as others.
Until they educate themselves on cultural acceptance and learn some decorum, we'll never step a foot back in either of their offices. Yes, same problem at both offices. That let's you know that the issue is the fact that they need some serious changes within the entire staff.

Even though I already had an appointment scheduled for the next day, I'm so grateful there was a doctor on call who said 'Come in now'. I've been suffering from chalazions, which are kinda like a stye, for all of 2020. This was the worst burning & pain I've felt ever! Plus, it looked like my eyelid was ripped. (It's always more severe to the person experiencing the situation than the ACTUAL situation.) Dr. Chong was the lifesaver of my sanity! I am 100% sure with Drs Jordan, Riske, and Chong I'll be back to my fabulous self in no time!

So I had a very minor procedure done on my eye lid. But for me it was terrifying to think about. A NEEDLE NEAR MY EYE?!? Everything was fine till the doctor came in. The nurse went over my chart and why I was there. I expressed I'm a bit scared of the little procedure. The nurse was awesome and talked me through everything and made me feel a lot better.
I waited about 10 minutes and then the doctor came in. He introduced himself Dr. Riske, an said, "So why are you here? Oh a little stye?" I said, "ha no it's a cyst." He then took a quick look at both of my eyes (less then 2 minutes) and said, "yep we will do this today, just numb it, cut it open and take it out." Then he walked out. I felt completely rushed and not comfortable at all but I had already been waiting 2 months for this appointment.
Then they took me into another room, the doctor came in, I took some deep breathes and prepared myself. WELL then he grabbed the needle and just said, "take a breath here we go!" OMG so painful! Then he began slicing and I said, "owch!" He said, "oh not numb enough?" He then numbed me up again and went at it. He began asking me where I worked I said for a psychologist.
And asked what she specialized in. I said, "Grief, depression, anxiety, family therapy and bariatric evals." He said, "Ah man Bariatric surgery is stupid and most of those patients just get fat again." I shit you not if he didn't have a knife near my eye I would have punched him! WHAT?!?! Well guess he didn't read my profile becuase I had bariatric surgery in 2018 and it helped me tremendously.
He then said, "Well I guess for some people it helps for some reasons." Let's just say after he said all that I just wanted him to finish with my eye. After he finished, I leaped up, got my stuff and started walking twards the exit. I got teary eyed. It hurt so bad to hear that. I know that's how some people feel about WLS but watch what you say.
You never know what some people have gone through to get where they are. I will never be going back to Raleigh Ophthalmology again. I am beyond hurt and upset at the unprofessional behavior that I was shown. I have worked for some amazing doctors in my life and never would they ever say such things to a patient. Dr. Riske, maybe you should take more time with your patients and read up on why they are there before opening your mouth about things. Completely unprofessional. Nothing could ever make me come back here again.

Most of the time the staff here are truly amazing. But today there was a new lady working and she was so very RUDE! Her name was WENDY! First she tried to inform me I wasn't allowed to walk my handicapped mother to the back. I informed her they always let me because she can't walk very well and could fall if someone dosen't hold on to her. From then on she had a attitude.
When she asked my mother what her medicine was called she was on and my mother couldn't pronounce them correctly. She proceeded to roll her eyes and shake her head. Very unprofessional to say the least. Definitely won't be returning here after this check up. I recommend going to another place.

Front desk were all very nice! Due to covid they had blocked off every other chair, and required masks which I was thankful for. I had my 2 month old scheduled for an appointment with Dr. Jordan. The staff allowed me to walk around with my daughter outside so she could go to sleep while we waited to be called into the back rather then sit in the waiting room.
Once called in, the tech was kind and dilated my daughters eyes. I explained that I needed to breastfeed her to which she was very understanding. They left me for about 15 mins and had another tech check in to see if we were ready prior to sending the doctor in. Dr. Jordan immediately came in after I had given the OK and he was able to quickly and professionally diagnose the issue we were having with my 2 month old. Very satisfied with the whole process from start to end!

I went to the Raleigh Ophthalmology office on 2709 Blue Ridge Road for my annual eye exam and contact check-up. They billed me $225 up front even though I knew my insurance covered the exam and asked the receptionist to double check. Of course she still insisted on the full $225. However, when I received my insurance paperwork it showed I had been overbilled by $45.24.
I had to call Raleigh Ophthalmology to request the refund because they certainly weren't going to let me know they owed me money back. Then over a year after the appointment they sent me another bill for $11.45! I called several times and only got voicemail. When I finally got through they said the bill was wrong and I didn't owe anything. This is terrible business practice, absolutely inept. I would never go there again because I don't trust them not to try to cheat me with their billing.

I don't know about doctors here but the person, who took my call, was terrible. I wanted to make an appointment for my son, but the person didn't even try to explain the insurance issues I had and just hung up! I am not a native speaker of English and I was able to tell she was irritated with my English while I was giving my information. My son's pediatrician recommended this place but I will never go!

I was really impressed with Dr Chong and his assistants but dealing with the office is brutal. They are so over whelmed at the front desk that it causes a big delay in actually getting in to see your doctor. And just totally forget about calling in and trying reach anyone that can answer a question or provide follow up info on your visit. They will speak over you, act bothered and put you on hold for extended periods.
Their menu options for calls don't work correctly and Its impossible to call in and reach and operator that can get your call to the right person. Expect a huge level of frustration level when dealing with anyone other than the medical staff.

I showed up at 320 for a 330 appointment. I wasnt even checked in until 4pm. They had the wrong reason for my appointment in their system. Then I was told it would be 440 before a doctor might be able to see me. I got a refund and left. Wont be coming back. At least the lady at the front desk was apologetic.

This was my first visit to Raleigh Opthamology. The front desk staff was friendly, but I feel like they should have told me when I signed in that they were more than an hour behind schedule and let me have the option of rescheduling at that point since they were clearly overbooked. I waited for almost an hour and a half to be taken back for an exam. Dr. Jordan and the assistants were all very friendly, and the exam was thorough. However, I was sent back to the waiting room after getting the dilation drops and waited another 35 minutes to be brought back for the actual exam.
I do truly appreciate the thorough exam. I definitely wouldn't want to be pushed through quickly simply to stay on schedule; however, I think they severely overbooked appointments. I was gone from work for too long. I would suggest that they not overbook to such an extreme degree, and if they find themselves running hours behind schedule, they should call non-urgent appointments and ask if they are willing to reschedule in order to alleviate the backlog.

People check you in are great. If you are there for eye exam and contacts.run for the hills. Worst experience. Cancelled the appointment and walked out. I have multiple degrees and was treated like I was in the second grade. Here is a statement for you."the doctors don't know anything about contacts and don't care". That is a direct quote from the contact guy!

I had an appointment at 1pm only to be seen and waiting for 3hrs. It seems as if this office is always overbooked. Very inconsiderate for patients. Also the actual waiting rooms are small and limited seating. Most patients are older and require seating. Some were having to stand for long periods of time. Unacceptable!

Read reviews and almost didn't go to appointment. Don't know who these people saw because I was amazed with the professionalism from front desk to contact man, to eye prescription lady, to dr. No waiting. Friendly. Knowledgeable. An exceptional experience. With a full MD opthomologist, it was less expensive, without insurance, than a mall chain optometrist. Fully impressed.

It's been several years since I've been to this location but I wanted to include my experience with Dr. Jordan. I had taken my 9 year old daughter to several doctors for 9 months trying to figure out what was going on with her. Once her eyes starting bulging out I took her to see Dr. Jordan. One look at her and he immediately said she has a thyroid problem.
He wrote up and order for labs and told me to take her to Rex immediately. Her labs were done on a priority basis and her TSH was 0 which was critical for her. After 9 months of trying to find out what was wrong I now had an answer. No other doctor had considered her thyroid being the problem. My daughter was diagnosed with Graves Disease at the age of 9, something that is typically seen in women over 40.
If not for Dr. Jordan, I don't know if we would have found this out before my daughter had suffered irreparable harm. My daughter is now 24 and doing great. Thank you Dr. Jordan for recognizing a problem ignored by many doctors.
