Services
As in the past, our practice's success continues to be based upon adhering to the Golden Rule and providing every patient the same high standard of eye care we would desire for our families and ourselves. The Eye Center of Fort Wayne is a comprehensive medical and surgical eye clinic that offers complete medical eye examinations by specialists in the field of ophthalmology. This includes the diagnosis, management, and treatment of eye diseases, featuring in-house surgery in our state-of-the-art surgical center.
Several months ago I was speaking with my neighbor here in Fort Wayne, and I mentioned to her that my vision was becoming increasingly difficult, and that I thought I was developing cataracts. I also mentioned that I was not looking forward to "shopping" for an Eye Doctor, although I was sure that my General Practitioner could recommend somebody.
A cataract is a "clouding" of the eye's natural lens, which results in blurred or hazy vision. Treatment for cataracts involves removing the cloudy natural lens and replacing it with either a monofocal, toric or multifocal intraocular lens implant (IOL). More than 20 million adults in the U.S. have developed cataracts, making it the number one cause of poor vision in the United States.
Selected by his peers as one of the "Best Doctors in America" and one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" by the Consumer's Research Council of America. Dr. Parent is a nationally recognized board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Parent first performed LASIK in Brazil in 1995 prior to FDA approval in the United States.

Very disappointed in our experience with Dr. Parent and staff. Not a covid safe I environment at all. My mother is 85 and has dementia. The wait time is not acceptable, they promised they would get us in quickly and we waited over a hour. 1st off he doesn't even do the procedure another Dr. Does it. If anything he is a greeter and very unprofessional.
Instead of reassure us of how her eye was doing he was more concerned with giving her a rain jacket, cup and other promotional gifts with his name on them, and bragging of his number one rating as eye doctor in Indiana. Not once did he say anything of continued eye care, he was most concerned to get her back in for her other money making eye. He should be ashamed and retire and his ratings are falling quick.

Id love to give 5 stars. Staff is all great and doctors are all great. They even worked in husband who had an emergency. I wanted to give 1 star for the horrible long wait. 2 waiting rooms. Long hours. But, since they did such a great job with husband's torn retina and same day surgery, I'm giving 4. When u go there, you cannot take frustration out on staff.

Dr. Parent put in a multifocal lens which he told me I would be able to see both distance and up close. He bragged about being one of the 10 ophthalmologist in the nation who had advanced education in the multifocal lens placement using the laser technique. I was unable to see distance or up close. I got a second opinion from another ophthalmologist in Fort Wayne who told me the lens wasn't centered and referred me to the Midwest Eye Institute in Indianapolis.
I had to go under general anesthesia to have the lens removed that Dr. Parent had put in. The doctor said that the lens was torn near my nose. When I returned the next morning to have the patch removed I was able to see clearly instantly. So I would never recommend Dr. Parent to anybody to have cataract surgery. I

The most unprofessional staff ever. You wait 2-3 hours to see the doctor while there are litterally 10staff members standing around in the back office talking about their personal lives and have the nerve to become upset when they are asked how much longer it will take for the doctor to see the paitent who will request for you to come back in a month to do it all over again with no plan to actually help correct your vision but will still take your money with a smile. Absolute Garbage Service all the way around. You would be better served visiting another location and not wasting your time.

Everytime we come here the wait is extremely long and frustrating! Always three to four hours. Primarily from over booking. On top of that we were quoted $1175 out of pocket for an ocular implant then received another bill for close to $300. The vision is only a small fraction better than what it was and still requires the use of glasses when we were told they would only be needed for driving and reading! We were told we were up next at 4:00pm and its now 5:00pm and no Dr. Our original appointment was scheduled at 2:20pm.
