They sense everything. They manage every impulse - every movement our body makes. Together, the hyper-complex, interconnected Central Nervous System (CNS) and Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) control our internal organs, blood vessels and cardiac muscles. As well as our skin, bones, joints and skeletal muscles. In fact, almost everything we do as humans begins with the vast network of PNS nerves, which continually gather and relay information to the CNS. Instantaneously, the brain - the control center of the CNS - analyzes and interprets the signals and sends out the appropriate responses.

Fort Wayne Neurological Center has one of the largest and most experienced practices in the region. Our staff-skilled in dozens of specialties-works together to ensure quality care and successful recoveries. Dr. Stevens has been a private practicing neurologist and specialist in sleep disorders medicine at the Fort Wayne Neurological Center for the past 30years.
To best fulfill its mission, FWNC and its outstanding medical staff have established nine institutes dedicated to a particular area of neurology and neuromuscular study and treatment. FWNC is the only practice in the area to offer its patients as complete and as advanced a continuum of care. The physicians of the Fort Wayne Neurological Center are specialists who consult on many Neurological and Physical Medicine conditions. As such, a referral is required from your primary care physician or the specialist who was most recently treating you.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) involves an immune-mediated process in which an abnormal response of the body's immune system is directed against the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Within the CNS, the immune system causes inflammation that damages myelin - the fatty substance that surrounds and insulates the nerve fibers - as well as the nerve fibers themselves, and the specialized cells that make myelin. When myelin or nerve fibers are damaged or destroyed in MS, messages within the CNS are altered or stopped completely.
Epilepsy is a chronic disorder, the hallmark of which is recurrent, unprovoked seizures. While Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder, there are still a lot of misunderstanding about this disorder. Mild head injuries, such as a concussion with just a very brief loss of consciousness, do not cause epilepsy.

We were efficiently registered and directed to the waiting area and shortly escorted to an exam room. Both staff members were very personable and cheerful. Dr. Stevens was very efficient and professional but quite approachable and readily answered questions and outlined a plan for further investigation of my husband's difficulty. My husband came away with hope, as did I. The waiting area and staff were careful of our desire for pandemic precautions, since we are older adults.

My visit was excellent! As soon as I walked through the door, the receptionist greeted me and asked if I had any changes. She quickly noted my changes and sent me to the waiting room. I no more than had time to find me a seat, I was called to wait in an exam room for Karen. She was in the room fairly quickly. She was helpful and courteous with all of my needs. She got the job done quickly and thoroughly. The checkout went smoothly, and the next appointment was made.

I love that I am being treated by Dr Vaschon in Fort Wayne at the Neurological Center. I moved here 3 years ago and had a difficult time finding the Doctor that was a good fit for me. Dr Vaschon is one of the rare Doctor that cares and listens to you. He takes time to make sure that your treatment is best fitted to you. I feel I'm getting a best treatment I can get and he is so appreciated. His staff are always kind and caring. Thank you

Dr. Vachon is beyond words amazing to work with. I had to go through the office red tape to "change doctors" because 10 years earlier I had seen one of their other doctors on a non related issue. If you follow their procedures to "switch doctors" it is not a long or difficult process. Dr. Vachon will listen, explain, answer questions and treat your actual problem. He is knowledgeable and respectful. He is a specialist doctor with people skills. They are far and few we are lucky to have him in Ft Wayne.

Dr. Vachon was very thorough and spent a lot of time with my husband. He asked many questions and made us feel like he wanted to resolve the problem. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We did not wait long to see Dr. Vachon. The atmosphere of the office was pleasant and the front desk staff was all smiles. Great experience.
