A very professional and caring group of technicians, any anxieties you may have about unfamiliar procedures are quickly put to rest. I found Dr. Mario del Cid a first rate Dr., he explained my problem and procedures to help in very understanding terms. I feel I am in very good hands and confident he will help me. Arleen

My Optometrist referred me to the Retina Group of Florida for an evaluation of vitreous degeneration and retinal hemorrhage. I scheduled the appointment in mid December of 2021 for January 11, 2022. I filled about 13 pages of forms that I was told were necessary for the appointment. In January, 1 week before the appointment, I needed to cancel the appointment as I was ill.
They rescheduled my appointment for 02/01/22 at 8:15 AM. This morning (02/01/22), while I was driving to the appointment, I got a call from the office (Dianne) stating that they were cancelling my appointment, as they are not accepting my insurance any longer. She stated that the insurance change happened as of today, 02/01/22. Insurances do not change in February; it may have changed on the first of January, and the did not bother to notify me (at the time I rescheduled the visit).
This office already knew since January that it was not accepting my insurance, and they called me while I am driving to the appointment to cancel it. This shows the lack of organization from the office and lack of care about their patients.

My parents were on a cruise and my father's retina detached. I contacted the Retina Group of Florida to schedule an emergency appointment. I provided all the insurance information and was told that he was all set. I flew in from OH to get them from the cruise ship to the appointment. After sitting in the waiting room for over 2+ hours we were called to the front desk to be told that they do not accept his insurance and we would be considered self-pay.
How can a retina group in FL not accept Medicare? Why didn't they tell me this when I made the appointment? Why did they have us sit in the waiting room for 2+ hours prior to figuring this out?

I have been a patient of the Retina Group of Florida for several years. My experiences with this group has always been very positive. The staff are welcoming, professional and efficient. The doctor is very personable, knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain his findings with me. I would highly recommend them for any one seeking the care of a retinal specialist.
