At Factoria Eye Clinic, we respect and appreciate the care entrusted to us by our patients. We know how important it is for you to look and see your best. Dr. Caroline Kaufman is originally from Alaska. She has been a practicing Optometrist since 1994 and has owned Factoria Eye Clinic since 2005. She is residency-trained in Cornea and Specialty Contact Lenses.
Dr. Kaufman is a wonderful doctor who takes the time to give thorough, accurate exams. She has a passion for fitting Orthokeratology, as well as Rigid Gas Permeable, Scleral, and hybrid lenses for specific eye diseases or hard-to-fit contact lens prescriptions.

There are a variety of reasons a patient may need a specialty lens. These include irregular corneas due to scarring or keratoconus, changes in corneal shape after LASIK, dry eyes, and even some high prescriptions. Scleral lenses are large diameter rigid gas permeable contact lenses. The material is highly oxygen permeable.
Ok, so I rarely get good enough service to leave these kinds of posts - but Dr. Kaufman and her staff deserve special mention. I was referred to her office by my regular eye Dr. at Optic Gallery in Kent - who also deserve special mention for their care and consideration - they referred me. I have special eye care needs due to a cornea trasplant years ago.
This technology has been transformative for our practice and our patients. This tomographer scans the eye and measures the elevation and thickness of over 100,000 points. Why is this so helpful? There are many reasons. Just as no two fingerprints are alike, no two eye surfaces are alike either. In the past, patients needing orthokeratology lenses, would receive lenses designed with just a few specified curves.
If you wear contact lenses.remove the contact lens.if the eye starts looking less red then the contact lens may need to be cleaned or replaced. If the pain goes away you may need to clean your lens or it may need to be replaced. If the pain does not go away you should schedule an appointment to come in for an office visit.

I learned in 90 minutes more about the health of my eyes including a hereditary disease which affects sight with the rest of my organs, which needed to be addressed, that I should have been informed of by the eye specialists at my major university's hospital's clinic 20 years ago. I heartily recommend using this clinic if you need a new eye clinic. Or if you need a second opinion.

Thank God I discovered this place. Factoria Eye Clinic is the best, hands down, Eye clinic I've been to in the decades that I've been searching for good vision. Dr. Kaufman is a superb professional, relentless in her efforts to get it right, and her entire staff reflects her culture of customer service. You will not be disappointed.

I absolutely love Factoria Eye Clinic. I've been going to see Dr. Kaufman for the past 10 years now and she is fantastic. The staff is amazing -- Shelby, Michelle & Leana are all so wonderful to work with, they're helpful and kind; they go above and beyond in helping find glasses, contacts and quick solutions for any problem I've had. Since COVID, they have implemented amazing safety measures and I felt extremely safe. I'd absolutely recommend Factoria Eye Clinic to anyone!

I'm a fairly new patient, but I can confidently say that LOVE this place! From the moment I stepped into their office, I felt warmly welcomed by the staff and was very comfortable. It was exactly what I needed during a time/event that was incredibly stressful for me. I worked mostly with Dr Kaufman and Shelby while I was there and they were both LOVELY. They were both so kind and eager to help. So grateful that my cornea specialist referred me to them. I will definitely continue to work with them going forward!
