I have nothing but amazing things to say about Boston IVF. Dr. Pang and his nurses are very respectful and helpful. The ultrasound tech in Stoneham is also amazing. If it wasn't for Dr. Pang and his team I wouldn't be able to do this. They're supportive and understanding. I highly recommend Boston IVF!

The Waltham location receptionist that faces the back wall lacks any kind of positive emotion towards patients who have never been there before. Unfortunately since we still required services we kept quiet for fear of retaliation. The acupuncture business that is in house provided pre implantation and post services for a fee. However, the acupuncturist attempted to take my phone and place it across the room even after I placed my hand on it and said no.
She told me I need to relax and she doesn't allow phones. I told her I am 5 hours from home and that people rely on me as an emergency contact. Still argued which stressed me out - what a great prep! Then she stayed and advertised her business and criticized my local acupuncturist. Waste of money and time. The Portland, Maine location was my local office and they are great - Dr. Lannon and nurse Tiffany were very helpful. The only reason for 4 stars is that Portland brings up the average.

I went to boston ivf hoping for exceptional care after failing other therapies and ultimately ending up at ivf as our only option. I can't say that was what I received. The ancillary staff, communication, and monitoring department were absolutely amazing. The portal was great. However, I do not feel I was really listened to and I felt my concerns were dismissed.
I had three failed transfers and now am back at square one with my third clinic. I am NOW getting the treatments and diagnostic procedures that I was denied prior to losing three precious embryos. There are many many physicians and teams at Boston ivf, so if you feel yours is not a good fit or you are not being listened to, don't hesitate to switch.

As a patient of Boston IVF for the past 15 months, I can say that I could not be more disappointed. I put aside being treated like just a number time and time again but when I ended up being treated with tremendous disrespect following a billing mix up on their end (which cost me $2,000 unnecessarily), I will not give them another cent. Going through a fertility journey is an incredibly emotional experience and for a care team to treat a patient with complete disregard is unacceptable.

I am deeply disappointed in my experience with Boston IVF. I am currently going through the process of egg freezing (Which is not covered by insurance). I had to fight with them to even bill my insurance to see if they would cover anything, which they did not. IVF is a covered procedure, but this pre-requisite of egg retrieval for single people without going through IVF is not.
From the beginning, barely anything was explained to me about the financial process. I was told I could do a "payment plan". But they neglected to explain that the "plan" meant paying in full before even beginning. They did not provide any assistance or information on how to obtain a loan for fertility assistance. I decided to use a Care Credit card I had previously for another procedure, that allows for 1 year interest free.
Only to find out after I paid $6,500 that Boston IVF nor Village Pharmacy works with Care Credit so I am being charged high interest rates, which I was looking to avoid. I have already paid close to $1,000 for all of my testing, so feel I am in too deep now so back out. But Boston IVF did a terrible job on the financial side explaining impact this would have. I haven't even started injections yet and am so frustrated with them. I just hope the clinical aspect of this procedure goes smoothly. So far, not so good.

Avoid this place if at all possible. The doctors seem to be great at what they do, but you won't be able to reach them. They're booked out weeks or months in advance. The "customer service" you get in the meantime is awful. They must be severely understaffed. They way it works is nobody ever answers the phone. You listen to a long recording, then you leave ALL your information on a voicemail and hope for a call back.
They disabled incoming messages on their website, and don't accept emails. For everything but planned treatments, they call you back in a 3-5 business days. This is sometimes too late for what you need, depending on where you are in your cycle. As a result, you lose a treatment cycle (aka, another month of not getting pregnant). Then they tell you stress affects your fertility, and they have a special clinic for that.
For more money. The only stress I have is caused by insane process. There has to be a better way. This is truly awful. There are some very nice people who work there, but 99% of the time I'm pulling my hair out trying to get any form of communication from them.

Horrible staff and you will never see the doctor. Dr Sandy Lee only showed up late for my zoom call and shows useless slides not matching to my condition and not personalized. She didn't answer my questions. Her nurses were rude and unresponsive. They put me through so much stress. Check their yelp page as the google page has fake reviews. The person who does the surgery is not the doctor and nurses do all the work and each time there is a new nurse.
Their contract and billing department are horrible. I recommend CCRM. Save yourself by reading their yelp reviews. They turned into a machine and customer care means nothing to them.

I don't understand these horrible reviews, maybe because they are rude people?!? Makes me wonder how they acted themselves because I had to visit this clinic for blood work, ultrasound and physical many times for egg donation. Let me tell you out OUTSTANDING AND UNDERSTANDING THE STAFF IS! I wish I could give them more stars! Every department was so nice, understandable and concerned about my comfort. Amazing amazing amazing! Keep up the great work y'all. I enjoyed y'all's company through this journey.

Boston IVF is HORRIBLE! WORST experience and customer service I've ever seen. I should've read prior reviews before choosing BostonIVF and how they treat you like just a number. It's all about the bottom line for them- they don't care about patients. I wanted to know in advance of getting bloodwork how they would bill- I called THREE times and was assured by different staff that my insurance covered everything and I would owe nothing.
I wanted to be sure of what I would owe before deciding to move forward. However, without letting me know, they sent my blood to so many different labs for 22 different tests. My insurance charges $50 copay per visit but because they sent it to different labs, each was charged as a visit and I was charged $50 for each lab Boston IVF billed to. As a goodwill, I wrote a letter to Boston IVF, explaining the situation and asking to waive the last $125 copay charge I had with them (that's after all the other copays I paid and the $1000s my insurance paid).
They called me back today saying they're not waiving it. They cost me over a $1000 in out-of-pocket expense by not informing about sending my bloodwork to so many labs and are still refusing and got so much money out of me and are still refusing to waive a mere $125. Please DO NOT choose Boston IVF- I'm sure you can find much better places that will actually treat you humanely and not try to screw you over. Oh and Dr. Digiralomo is heartless.

They do treat you like a number and want your money. They counted my chemical pregnancy as a success and added it to their statistics. When the nurse called to tell me I had the miscarriage, she could not wait to get off the phone. I had no explanation and wasn't able to speak to the dr for weeks after the miscarriage. My dr had no compassion at all and basically told me to stop trying. Also, when I had the egg retrieval; they accidentally cut me inside and I had to be stitched.
I was bleeding a lot and when I had egg retrieval as a place in Ny, there was not one drop of blood. They just don't care, and the administrative assistant Lindsey is so rude and condescending. It was an awful experience.

Their billing department works like debt collectors and apparently doesn't speak human American English. Because by this time my s/o and I sound like a broken record. They did not comprehend when we said we are paying out of pocket. Yet they are adamant on trying to run the bill with the insurance. They would call me almost at closing time on a Friday so I can't call back when I could.
Every time there's a phone call from them it's different people. We're waiting on our 2nd consultation, and they have already caused so much stress. They should change their name to the facility. BOSTON_ivf_money_collector

Let me just preface this by echoing what other reviewers have said and that is that the physicians at Boston IVF (we saw Dr Pauli) are first-rate and the referrals out to surgeons were also brilliant. I was referred b fabulous midwife and so of course, I trusted her. I genuinely do not believe that the doctors or anyone who refers patients to BostonIVF knows HOW poorly managed it is.
No one is on-top of ANYTHING. The Waltham office is nice, except for the road in which you'll lose a tire on and the Lexington Office is completely sterile. We've missed two cycles so far. and this is why: We started in December 2019 and Covid-19 caused some disruption in our treatment cycle. July 2020: I update my insurance with my new company and submit it to BostonIVF. We're told that our first cycle will be September with a transfer in October/November. August 2020: I'm waiting to hear from BostonIVF about my medications.
They send them to CVS Specialty Pharmacy which is not even contracted with my insurance. I had to find that out myself with the help of CVS Specialty Pharmacy who very kindly called my insurer. I called BostonIVF and they were SURPRISED. It says OptumRX right on my insurance card, how are you SURPRISED? September 2020: They rushed the pre-authorizations and made a number of mistakes with the pharmacy.
All the pre-authorizations were denied and magically came back with my husband's insurance information and not mine. They also left out information, which is why they were denied. I called them again. They resubmitted the claims. I scanned all the letters to them to show them the difference between the approvals and denials. Everything seemed to be approved, but when I called OptumRX to find-out about the prescriptions only to find that there was (1) no record of them and (2) BostonIVF had neglected to submit THREE prescriptions.
At NO POINT did anyone from BostonIVF call without me first calling them, I had to do all of the legwork with insurance, and I spent hours talking to people who had absolutely no idea what they were doing. Infertility is difficult enough without having to spend hours with insurance providers. We paid them $3000 for embryo preservation and they managed to collect that, but other than that, they've done nothing.
They haven't done a blessed thing to make this last, and most stressful and emotional part of the whole episode, any better or easier. I shouldn't have to call you EVERY SINGLE WEEK to ask about my prescriptions and EVERY SINGLE TIME they acted surprised like, "Oh, how odd." Really? So your answer is for me to spend hours on the phone tracking down claims and pre-authorizations.
While I was on-hold today with the pharmacy they told ME to call, even though I'm not the insurance coordinator or paid to do this, I called another smaller clinic 90 minutes from my house in Western Massachusetts to transfer all of my records and care. It was wild: the same person I scheduled with was also the insurance person. Crazy, right? These people at BostonIVF can't even file a claim properly, at this point, I certainly don't trust them to complete my care.

Did I get pregnant, yes. But every step of the way was painful, impersonal, and my husband was treated as the free sperm donor. Scheduling was a challenge. IVF is a timely matter. If you have a day job forget it. They run so many people through their operation that you best be ready to drop everything when they need to show up or answer the phone.
They call you with instructions for the day and if you can't answer they leave vague messages, and it will take multiple calls to try and get them back if you have any questions. They will even call you and say "we need you at X clinic location tomorrow at X time for an ultrasound, " and hang up. Again if you have a job, be sure to drop everything whenever they leave you a voicemail. Retrieval was a traumatic experience.
They couldn't fgure out how to insert the IV. They made me wait until 4 pm for surgery (I had no schedulings once again). I couldn't have any water since midnight before. My veins had been stabbed daily for the previous 10 days for blood tests. With collapsed veins and no hydration they stuck me 8 times! Each attempt I could feel the vein collapsing with an excruiated sting (the estrogen prescription makes the pain worse).
When I started to cry they told me to "stop crying." Then they say "in reality you could have had water up to 2 hours before, we just don't like to tell people that." Since the transfer I've been trying to get a copy of the results. They said they would email it and haven't. I've been trying for six weeks. I went in today for my first ultrasound to see the fetus.
Due to Covid-19, they won't let my husband come with me. (For reference, all other hospitals and clinics in Boston allow 1 visitor by this time). I asked if I can FaceTime or video and they said no it's a "strict policy." I started crying telling them how hard, impersonal, and lonely this experience has been and how hard it is for me to even get documentation of my own medical records.
They didn't care - they would barely let me even look at the ultrasound screen myself. When the nurse called me with the results she said "they should be able to let you FaceTime your husband; others have been doing that." To be fair, everyone is polite and I really like my doctor (Dr. Ryley). But the operation is unorganized and impersonal, and consistently treated my husband like we was just a sperm donor in the process.

Update: 07/09/2020 We had 2 insurances last year and did not know that the primary insurance should be the one through your work and not through your spouse. Boston IVF billing called us on Jun 10th saying on May 2020 BCBS took back part of the 2019 payments. United Healthcare (agreed to pay if Boston IVF would send them the claims. We had UHC customer service on the phone line asking Boston IVF billing for the claims to be sent to them for payment but the billing person at B.IVF said she will not send until UHC gives them in writing that they will pay the bills (before seeing it).
The billing person said that she does not care that we have 2 insurances that we should personally pay the bills and she will not forward to the insurance co. A month and half later they still did not send any bills or claims, saying that BCBS did not take back the funds just "created an AR". Called BCBS they said they took back the funds May 27th. They are taking their time.and am concerned as my understanding if the claim is over a year old the insurance might refuse to pay.

Let me preface this by stating that this review has to do with their billing and business practices. The medical side is wonderful. Unfortunately, the billing department is SHADY. The billing department is atrocious. Shelly is rude, unprofessional and hangs up on customers looking to pay. Approximately three years ago Boston IVF mailed me the confidential financial records of nearly 50 other clients.
For several months, the billing department, who made the mistake, refused to transfer me to a higher up. Once I navigated their system and spoke to a VP, I was promised free storage. I did not request thos. They sent the bill anyway and I paid. Then, the Bill's stopped coming until July of this year when I was contacted by email. I called.asking for a month by month itemized bill.
I went to Waltham only to realize they had provided the wrong thing. So I called the billing department and the refused to print a month by month bill unless a payment was made. I was yelled at by Shelly and hung up on. Buyer beware- they will help you have a child but they are a NASTY company with little to no CRM experience. I have tried to reach out to the supervisor, Dan the CFO but to no avail. Interestingly, the collections company was able to provide the documentation as BostonIvf had given it to them.

Great doctors and some amazing seasoned employees. Unfortunately the service and quality of front line crew you will deal with day to day has significantly decreased over the last 5 years I have been with BIVF. If I wasn't close to my last cycle with them I would absolutely switch to another clinic. I am disappointed daily in their lack of care for how emotionally, physically and financially draining this process is and how every step and good guidance matters to individual patients.

-5 stars if possible. I'll write more later if I think of i, but this is the following absolute awful experience list we've had and wanted it documented to warn others first (we've talked to many other couples with similar experiences): Took 10 requests to make a simple appointment for a lab test. The woman who I finally reached was the DIRECT line I was given previously ("kayla" maybe?) and even though I had been calling for weeks with no reply she was rude and nonchalant when I mentioned it politely, and eating loudly during our call.
She also scheduled my appointment for the wrong freaking month even after repeatedly telling her I could absolutely not do anything in february (I was the one with a tight schedule, not them--it was a simple test that I could do at my liesure). when I arrived, they had none of my info. Like, not even my name. They had no idea who I was, despite answering several questions ahead of time.
Then later, I had to have the test repeated ("inconclusive"? Or they lost it more likely), and it was mostly the same garbage. THEN, I had a minor surgical procedure that required tissue being driven directly to them from the hospital for testing. We not only spent 2 months dealing with them and the doctor ensuring EVERYTHING was covered by insurance (due to their slow responses and incompetence), but then, TWO DAYS after the test, we got a thing in the mail saying the tissue test was not covered and would cost $350 and requested that we sign something agreeing to the charge.
Not only did we not sign the form, but we confirmed the test was covered by our insurance. I'm guessing they didn't like their contracted rate with our insurance because then they sent us a bill for $500--for the exact same line item as their $350. Despite dozens of emails and phone calls, they continue to send us a $500 bill and are now threatening "to send to collections" We've been working with the Mass AG and I've consulted a private lawyer.
Our next step will be small claims against both them and the surgical practice at which point we will update here. This place is not remotely organized and I cannot recommend against them further. The support staff are absolutely, terrifyingly incompetent and stupid. The nurses all seem tired and disaffective. You'll never see a doctor there unless you're doing a big money procedure and then it might be sticky. Avoid.
This is a $$-making venture with no regard for basic competence or decency. We've since started working with Dr. Huang and her team and it is night and day shockingly better. Competent and smart people that seem to genuinely care.

Here's an update. I took Boston IVF to small claims court and won. They didn't pay and didn't show up to a payment hearing in court. I sent an email to the leadership team at BIDMC who, amazingly, didn't respond. I then copied that email to the leadership team at Boston IVF and, a full 10 months after this ordeal began, got a call from their CFO with no apology, but with the promise of a check in the mail tomorrow. If this company has screwed you over, be loud. Spread the word. No one deserves Boston IVF.

Not impressed with this factory--and we're a success story with Boston IVF! Despite that, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. We used ART in another state, and were successful. That practice was wonderful--the drs., the nurses, the phlebtomists. Warm, welcoming, careful, considerate. We spent several years with BIVF and were ultimately successful, but they're really horrible.
See a different person every time. Nurses that don't seem to care and have no bedside manner. And frequently running late or pull a bait-and-switch. Oh, you were supposed to see the Dr. today? Sorry! You can see the PA or NP. My grocery deli counter is a friendlier, higher touch experience! You deserve better care. Go elsewhere.

I am so very grateful for Boston IVF. It was a long road to get our now 20-month old daughter, but I would tell anyone that whatever we had to go through was SO VERY WORTH IT! Boston IVF was wonderful to work with and the staff are all so caring and supportive. We can't say enough good things about our experience with them.

After 3 1/2 years of IUIs and in vitro, 3 miscarriages and zero answers, I finally decided to split with my old clinic and try Boston IVF after some research. Even though I never took advantage due to distance, I appreciated that they have the Dolman Center (offering things like acupuncture, yoga, nutritional consults, etc) and obviously get the link between mind and body.
They also offer a number of clinical trials at any given time, so if you're interested, they usually post them on their site. Within the first 20 minutes of my consult with Dr. Thornton (in the Worcester office), she asked, "Do you have any other health problems besides mild PCOS?" I responded, "I don't have that." Turns out I do and my old clinic just never thought it was relevant enough to mention.
I can't tell you how relieved I was to have a Dr. give me such a definitive answer and seem confident that they could address it. After discussing some tweaking she planned to do with my meds for my next cycle, she concluded the appt. by saying, "You will get pregnant and carry to term. I can't promise you how many tries it will take, but it WILL happen." I left feeling like I was on the right track.
My cycle went smoothly and I was monitored far less than at my previous clinic. At first it made me a little nervous because I have always had the tendency to hyperstim, but they truly knew what they were doing. I'm now pregnant, safely past the "danger zone, " with twins. As a side note, monitoring is not available in satellite offices on weekends, so get ready to fight the crowds in Waltham.
My suggestion? Get there EARLY. The staff was great. The receptionist in Worcester, Jean, was a total sweetheart and really on the ball. She'd take care of scheduling, insurance stuff, or in my case, FMLA paperwork incredibly quickly and always seemed eager to go the extra mile. In the Waltham office, the ultrasound techs were always nice and never made you feel rushed even though there were probably a ton of women waiting.
The err. "special" room that male partners use prior to egg retrieval was modern and again, the staff never made my husband feel rushed. We had an awful experience at our previous clinic where they basically told him they were on a tight schedule and he'd have to hurry it up. Poor guy. So in any case, my husband was also a fan of BIVF. The kicker was when I accidentally left my inhaler there the day of egg retrieval and someone actually called and said since she lived in my area (about 45 minutes away), she could drop it off to me on her way home. Who does that?! 3 1/2 years with another clinic with no results. 1 cycle with BIVF and my family is complete. Just saying.
