I saw Dr. Bellovin a few weeks ago for clearance for surgery. Had an EKG and Echo done. I called a few days later for my results and progress note to be sent to me via fax. I work for my Primary Doctor, so he wants to see any and all notes from whatever doctors I see. I called and was told they can send me my EKG but not my echo because they didn't have it. Fine.
I got my EKG. I have been calling now for days. It has been almost 3 weeks since my visit. Every time I have called today, I got the run around. My office manager called for me too. She was told that I never called for my stuff. She said she'd fax it. An hour later, nothing. I called back and demanded to speak to an office manager. They put me on the phone with the doctor, not even Dr. Bellovin.
He proceeded to tell me he doesn't understand why I even need the Echo, he doesn't "Think" my surgery requires. Yet I personally know it does. I let him know that my boss is also my primary doctor and he wants my notes and my echo results. He put me on hold for about 10 minutes. Than says he found it. Read it to me quickly. Told me I was fine.
And that was it. I told him I still needed it. He said a girl would fax it. Never got it. Just tried to call back and it went to the answering service. Apparently they closed at 2 for Good Friday, but the phones went to the answering service at 1:30 when I called. Very unprofessional of the staff and the doctor.

Dr. Bellovin is a doctor I would recommend to all. His expertise and compassion is evident through each visit. He makes you feel you are his only patient. He truly listens so that he can resolve the medical issues presented to him. Knowing I have such a gifted and talented doctor to go to has given me peace of mind as I continue to get older.

Dr. Bellovin is a very good doctor. He saw my husband and called personally to discuss the results of his tests. If it wasn't for this doctor and his follow up we would not find out that my husband had a prostate cancer. Unfortunately, he does not take our new plan and we had to find another doctor. A few months later after he saw my husband ( my husband wasn't his patient any more ) we received a followup letter for another procedure that Dr. Bellovin recommended at the time of the first visit. It proves the point of the previous reviewer -THIS DOCTOR DOES CARE!

Second appointment today with Dr. Bellovin. I'm 40 and wanted to see a cardiologist due to family history. The first appointment- He was very clear, thorough, and caring. He called me a few days later to review my blood work, and we spoke for a few minutes. He didn't rush the phone call. The second appointment- Stress Test. Again, very thorough, explained everything clearly.
The office isn't sparkling new, but the staff is experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful. Some people think a new fancy office equates better care. But I feel I got top notch care from all his staff members. He's also an internist. And he has a lot of patients waiting for him!

My wife had been suffering from occasional internal pains for the last 15 years or so, and had other health issues. We had gone to a number of doctors in Manhattan where she was prescribed a number of different medications from a series of condescending specialists focused on diet & lifestyle advice that she was already in compliance with. The condition never improved.
After moving to Bayside and having the luck to choose Dr. Bellovin as our doctor, things changed. Thanks to Dr. Bellovin (and Robert the ultrasound tech), we finally got a correct diagnosis: gallstones. The situation has since been addressed, and my wife is finally moving past this difficult chapter in her life. It's easy to find a doctor who looks like an expert-- everyone has the same impressive certificates on the wall. We're very grateful to have finally found someone who truly is an expert diagnostician, and kept thinking through the symptoms until the mystery was solved.
