Services
The South Boston Community Health Center is a full service health care facility that has been serving the South Boston community since 1972. With a staff of over 150, the Health Center provides over 70,000 service visits a year to almost half of South Boston's population. We currently provide these services from a two building, modern facility in the heart of the neighborhood and a satellite site in South Boston's emerging Seaport district. The South Boston Community Health Center is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, governed by a community-based board of directors.

If you have not activated your portal account, please call us at 617-269-7500. I feel that it is a well-oiled machine, with Dr. Brout at South Boston. I just can't say enough good things!
We also have a second facility directly across the street at 386 West Broadway which houses Dental, Eye Care, Billing, Human Resources and our Youth Ambassadors program. Parking is available in the Silver Street parking lot at the rear of our main building at 409 West Broadway. On street parking is available but may be limited.
We make our facilities available at convenient hours so you can access the care you need, right when you need it. I have been a patient of SBCHC for 15 years and in these 15 years the administrative staff has been nothing but unprofessional and rude. Throughout the years I've complained about the front desk staff raising their voice and talking over me in an aggressive manner, documents for referrals never being sent to the offices of the referral needed until after the first appointment, and using profanities in front of patients while mocking the elderly patients previously checking in.

I love my current doctor there but in the past I've been misdiagnosed by other doctors there. In case of emergencies where I need important medical information from them, the phones will ring and ring all day even during business hours. The SBCH definitely needs some reforms and I've never seen a change in all these years so unfortunately I had to change my doctors office. I hope eventually these common complaints will be fixed but do not go here if you appreciate a smooth professional atmosphere of trusting staff.

Dr Kaligian was very thorough during my 1st visit. Excellent bedside manner. plus staff, nurses were helpful, pleasant, and efficient. I am impressed!

Have to give this place a bad review, honestly brought my daughter in for regular vaccines at 4 months old and was told she needed a flu shot at her 6 month appointment which was two months away. Well I got home that night and my daughter was having trouble breathing. I figured she would be better soon and after a week or two called them back to see what she was given, as it turns out they "accidentally"gave her the flu shot at 4 months old and did not feel it was important to call and inform me of their mistake.

This is unacceptable and I had to call back and ask what she was given, they reluctantly informed me she was given the flu shot by mistake. No other actions have been taken by them and I will be switching doctors and contacting a lawyer to see if there is further action I can take.

My kids got the 1st dose of Covid Vaccine Dec 2021. The nurse and admin was unprofessional and lack of clarity. We missed the 2nd dose, and I had to find different places for the kids. I will not visit here anymore.

I have used this clinic for over 10 years and I am very happy with the services for my family and me. Today was my worst experience, but I don't want to hurt the 5-star rating in spite of Dr. Green. Today I had my first visit with the orthopedic specialist Dr. Alysia Green. I arrived at 8:30 for a 9:00am appointment, I was informed that "she wasn't here yet at 8:55.

When she showed up at 9:21, she told me she "only had time to look at one thing and I should [pick the one that hurts the most]. I was supposed to be evaluated for 3 issues and I've gone through all the hoops with other providers, X-Rays. physical therapy, etc. to get to this visit today. Dr. Green also seemed very angry as soon as she entered the room; I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt since it's a Monday morning and she probably hit bad traffic or something. This visit seemed rushed and I don't feel like I received the full attention and will bring it up with SBCHC directly. Cheers, Dr. Doug

We have had a superlative experience with South Boston Community Health Center. Having relocated internationally, I was eager to find a place that could give personalized attention to my family, especially to the healthcare needs of my adolescent son. SBCHC has been the best surprise Boston has had to offer. First, the staff-everyone I've encountered has been welcoming and patient, right from the person at the entrance handing masks, to the staff registering patients in the foyer.

The place is never crowded and we have been in and out for doctor's appointments and lab tests. Reniyah in Family Medicine was especially forthcoming in making and rescheduling appointments, and going out of her way to show us how to access online resources. My son's pediatrician spent over 40 mins on our first appointment taking a detailed medical history and after careful consideration, referring us to a specialist at BMC.

A few weeks ago, when my son came down with a fever, we were able to schedule a COVID test immediately and get the test results within a day. It is with confidence now that I am handing over my healthcare to SBCHC-from preventive health checks like PAP smears and mammograms-to other health issues. This is in preference to other private Boston area hospitals. It's just been such a smooth, stress free, and professional experience at South Boston Community Health Center!

I just wanted to say Thank you for the help your wonderful staff gave me today. They are very kind and caring people! The staff Nancy, and the gentlemen at the door were Awesome people and the transportation man Phil was excellent. I was in a great deal of pain and they were the most kind and helpful people I have ever meet! Thank you, and God bless them.

The "Nursres" here are very unprofessional. I will be changing my clinic ASAP. Looks like they're just hiring anyone now a days.

I've been a patient at SBHC for over 40yrs and I wouldn't go anywhere else for primary care etc. The clinic is old school friendly with professional Care and they go beyond any other health care facility that I've heard of from my friends and family who go closer to their homes. BTW I don't live in South Boston and never had' think This says it All

Got a covid vaccine here. The nurses were extremely friendly and the whole thing was very efficient. I got light headed after getting my shot and they gave me a snack and juice and let me lay down! Very hospitable!

Can't say enough positive things! Scheduled and had a COVID test here and every single person was SO beyond nice. I had no wait to be seen and was in and out in 5 minutes! I left a message for an appointment and someone got back to me to schedule within the hour. I am not one to leave reviews but during this time I can't imagine how overwhelmed and overworked our health care employees are and for them to still handle everything with such grace and professionalism was both impressive and appreciated.

After reading a handful of the reviews I was very hesitant to come in, but I had a great experience. I went right when they opened but didn't have an appointment, and they were able to get me an appointment within the hour. Once I got to the waiting room, I waiting less than 10 minutes to be seen. Everyone was so kind and hospitable, and they were able to offer me a Covid test even though that's not what I was initially coming in for. I had an excellent experience with every single part of their staff!
