Dr. LeVan is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She is an active member of the Aesthetic Society (also known as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), the world's leading professional organization of ABPS board-certified plastic surgeons. Dr. LeVan was born in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in Skokie, Illinois.She received a B.A. in biology and French from Washington University in St. Louis and studied for one year at Universite de Caen in Caen, France. She attended Rush Medical College in Chicago for her M.D. and completed her 5 year general surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and her 3 year plastic surgery training at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

Most soft tissue fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid which is a substance that also occurs naturally in the body. Common areas of treatment are the cheeks, nasolabial folds, corners of the mouth, marionette lines (grooves extending down from the corners of the mouth), and jaw line. They can also be used to fill in scars from acne or other causes.
CO2 skin resurfacing lasers are used for skin rejuvenation, to provide skin tightening and for softening of skin lines. They can also be used for treatment of depressed scars, such as acne scars, resulting in a more even skin surface. In addition, brown spots or hyperpigmentation can respond well to laser treatment.
